Players give Behringer a hard time for these budget pedals but when Warm or JHS releases copies (clones?) of some of the same gear, for two or 3 times the price or more, that seems to be OK. The Behringer and budget TC pedals over the years always stand up great against pricey boutique pedals and they do indeed sound great. I can’t wait to try these out.

@@TheGuitarGeek People speak out of both sides of their mouth on this. On another video with a similar theme, people were arguing that companies *must* pay a licensing fee if they copy another product too closely. That was in respect to PRS making an expensive Strat clone.... "oh, they pay a fee for it". Yeah, so then I suspect so does Behringer, or Harley-Benton, or any other legitimate low-cost brand. I doubt PRS lets H-B make an SE clone for years and years with no agreement, just like I doubt Fender lets PRS make a Strat clone for years with no agreement. So don't bitch about one and not the other. We're talking about designs that are 50 or 60 years old, and many are dead simple. *No one* is stupid enough to buy a Behringer product for $ and think they got a "real deal" that costs $$$$$. I'm just so sick of this argument.

I only ever had a Behringer Phase shifter, the build quality was tragic but it really delivered on sound. It was a shame because had they spent literally pennies on better components and doubled the price, they would have still been very competitive in the market and delivered a product which people would have flocked to, it really was a great sounding pedal. Behringer obviously have excellent accountants, they just aren't musicians...the accountants, .... they are the ones who aren't neccessarily musicians.

Switching between full analog circuits when you dial the knob. I have dialed in 60 watt tube combo amp versions of Fender Twin Reverb, Voxx AC30, and Marshall Plexi in front of me next to my pedalboard with a footswitcher to change between them. All because analog modeling and a custom-voiced 12 inch speaker that has super high headroom. Perfect pedal platform ironically.

I think I paid around $800 for it in the late 70's. Unfortunately I ended up selling it a few years later during a time when I needed the money. That was a great amp that served we well. It was a very soulful sounding loud as hell beast of an amp. I wish that I had kept it....Then I bought a Boogie MK4 upon its initial release, that was $1,400 back then. That is one amp I still have and will never sell. My son will inherit that one. It's amazing to have lived through the era when tube amps went through so many iterations and changes. And the prices have really skyrocketed for new tube amps, especially from Mesa, Marshall, Fender and Orange.

This Gibson studio session reminds me a lot to my honey burst tribute. Slim neck, 57 pickups, modern electronics, modern neck heel. And yes, this makes a lot of sense cause you get a guitar easy and modern to play up to the highest fret with the classic Gibson midrange sound. Not everyone wants to play a baseball bat for that sound 🙂- for me it's my goto fiddlearoundandtrystuff guitar which can do more sounds as my classic LPs. Every time Gibson changes stuff they get a huge bash cause they change stuff. And at the same time everybody bashes cause they never change stuff ... guitar players are weird sometimes ... Price ... these seem to be built better as the older Studios (I needed fret files for all of my cheaper Gibsons) - but 400 more for different pots ... Make the Studio 1500 and this 100 bucks more. But it seems like it needs to hurt when buying a Gibson, it's part of the experience.

Unnatural hatred for affordable gear... that's all I can figure. Pure snobbery. Within about an hour recently, I watched a video by JHS extolling the virtues of the absolute simplicity of a classic pedal design (it only uses two transisters!!!) that they sell for $180, another video by JHS scolding KZbinrs for daring to question their pricing model (why so expensive? Because!!), and then a video by That Pedal Show scoffing at the idea of them reviewing a Behringer Fuzzbender during their "Tonebender Clone" shootout. Why? One can only guess.
@OroborosEternalLifeАй бұрын
For some it's snobbery. Others, it's copying modern designs and circuits of other companies already on the market (often 1 to 1 with no changes) and undercutting them for not much less (Arturia and many one-man eurorack designs). For me it's Uli Behringer's actions. The lies, pettiness, and hatred that man has dished out is abhorrent. Benn Jordan did a great video on Uli's actions.

@@davidkulmaczewski4911 Nothing virtuous about it. I just gave reasonings beyond snobbery (which happens with both expensive and cheap gear) that are valid points. Also, I just read your comment above and Josh from JHS literally laid out all the costs that go into the business as an American company. Uli literally has a whole factory in China that makes things with lower quality materials in bigger quantities with lower employee wages and benefits. They’re two completely different levels of production. So prices are different for those reasons and more, not “just because”.

@@OroborosEternalLife I never understood the concept of denying oneself a desired product because one doesn't like the person making it or selling it. I'd love to see the ultimate results of widespread adoption of this strategy on human progress. An awful lot of geniuses were also shitty people; shunning them and their contributions seems short sighted. I hope you don't own any Apple products. Part of the JHS guy's product cost for his failed pedal line was making sure he had a proper custom-mixed shade of pink, LOL. Also, his videos open up with pictures of someone hand soldering parts into pedal chassis, not Chinese robots putting a few 'high quality' SMD chips onto tiny boards, which is what was inside those pink boxes.

NOW??? I got a Behringer bass rig (1/2 stack) 15 years ago. I played it in front of crowds from 4 people to 8,000 people, in front of nationals and too many other musicians to count. The ONLY person to talk shit was a brand queen whosecDaddy bought him a $2500 bass and $3500 amp. Behringer copies their designs, but I NEVER had an issue with my gear.

Wish you could hear those with my tone of voice.... The parts for all pedals ARE cheap, the enclosures ARE very cheap to make, the labour for assembling them IS cheap! And with time going on these will get even cheaper(unless you deny what a CNC machine can do). Now, the idea for a product is the priceless one. But how many new ideas are there in 2024 and for that matter, the last 35+ years? Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. Of course it's gonna be cheap! It must/should/have to be! Don't mock Behringer for it - instead mock all the other manufacturers that charge premium money for the same shit!! AND MOST OF THEM BUY THEIR PARTS FROM BEHRINGER 😅

Ive tried thst Mesa Boogie. It's fucking loud but a few grand out of my reach. So I may rent one to mess around with. That or play one until Guitar Center kicks me out.

18:00 Bonus point challenge accepted. Body part: toenail clippings Guitar: Gibson Studio Seems a fair exchange to me. Pity you dont like the thin neck with your huuuge hands, but you could sign it and sell it to Donald tinyhands for $11k so he knows what an american guitar looks like.

Before I sols my 90's studio lp the only thing I would have changed was having xoil splits. But then I split the band so no point keeping it.

over the 30 years ive played ive owned one Gibson, the flat black gothic explorer and if i had paid anywhere close to market price even at the time, i would say fuck gibson too.

While they do have glued set necks there are actually already screws in Gibson guitars. Pickguard, tuners, control plate etc, all screwed.

I think the Studio Session is fine, but kind of a misnomer. It's basically a stripped back version of the recent run of LP Classics for a bit less money.

Well ... regarding the Mesa IIc ... me will just wait4Beringer But don't forget: the original Boogie was like >~4000ish most of the time

Also, not sure why you're so down on Gibson. Did you have a bad experience?

What rock have you been living under? Gibson consistently shoots themselves in the foot with rising prices, decreasing quality, and constant courtroom bumbling over nonsense copyright claims.

@@drdoom8793I’ve been living under the rock of rock n’ roll :) They sound and play great to me. Go ahead and buy a nice Harley Benton then. Happy holidays.

Behringer had a QC problem in China years ago, causing their sales to slump and developing a bad reputation for poor quality. When Uri Behringer was shown proof of this, he was enraged and flew to the factory. The factory managers straightened out the mess and greatly improved the product. Yes, they are a budget line, but I have no complaints.
