The Brand Split finally ended in 2011. It was a good idea because it gave way to fresh matches and feuds. Guys like CM Punk and John Cena could visit Raw and guys like Randy Orton and Christian could visit Raw so it was all good imo. In this video, I cover the Week WWE Ended The Brand Split. Looking back, Maybe it was a good decision at the time but the way stuff were afterwards, it was probably best for them to keep the brand split. Guys like Bo Dallas could've benefited from it. Also, It's crazy to me that this video idea beat the Kurt Angle/Booker T one. I thought that was a lock but I guess it wasn't. The next video will either be SummerSlam related or it'll probably be a How Great Was.

Daveyboy11 I disagree/SmackDown still seemed like separate entity for much of 2012. It rarely features Raw stars. Until 2013; where SmackDown distinction faded and TLC 2013 was the final death.

0:31 now I know why every pay-per-view from '06 on became co-branded. I liked the idea of exclusive branded pay-per-views. It gave the brand split a more serious feel. I hated it when superstars started to appear on other brands constantly.

Even though 2011 did a WWE Draft I always kinda viewed the original Brand Extension as ending with Wrestlemania 27. After that the World Championship kinda felt devalued compared to the WWE title (it never main-evented a payperview again until unification at TLC 2013) and the rosters were mingling into each other's shows more than ever.

So, im not saying this videos wrong, but it is. They still had assigned raw and sd stars up until aug 2012. Re watch for yourself, anytime cody or rey were on raw their name plate was the sd graphics. The announcers also say things like "friday night smackdowns alberto del rio" For some reason, they kept this loose brand split going until it was officially ended in summer 2012.

To be honest, if WWE is going to end brand-split (I don't it is gonna happen) is a terrible decision. There are many wrestlers from NXT that can be a breakout stars in the future and they should be exclusively owned by either RAW or SMACKDOWN.

2011 was a bad year for the WWE. The Summer of Punk storyline was very hot and I want to see more of him ranting about the shit WWE has made. The PG era has alienated its audience, WrestleMania 27 is one of the worst Mania’s of the last decade (*cough* Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler), and the anonymous RAW General Manager revealed to be Hornswoggle was awful. I sometimes watch RAW when Cena delivers great matches. MITB 2011 was the last best PPV of 2011.

My most favorite time period in the WWE ! My favorite wrestler, CM Punk, was finally getting the main eventer marquee treatment ! I swear, there were rumors that, and WWE was STRONGLY hinting at John Laurinaitis being revealed as the Anonymous RAW General Manager during that time period. MISSED OPPORTUNITY !!!! Not just for establishing Johnny Ace as a strong heel GM, but it could have made the conspiracy storyline even more interesting. It could have explained a lot.

My guess they ended it in 2011 due to lack of stars/roster depth. Because over the course of 2010, Batista and Shawn Michaels left WWE. Also in 2011 Edge retired and then The Undertaker and Triple H went part time. That’s 5 of their biggest stars gone from the company and they where left with John Cena and Randy Orton as their two biggest stars. Then CM Punk that same year became a star himself and other than that they had no big heel or other stars.
