This is madness. And what's really disturbing is that my sister voted for Trump, my two 30 and 32 yr old nieces voted for Trump, my brother-in-law voted for Trump and all of their friends voted for Trump. And it's really scary because these people are not your typical crazy face painter idiot MAGAs you see at Trump rallies. They're intelligent. My sister's been a preschool teacher for 35 years. My brother-in-law is a project manager at a big construction company. One niece went to Iowa State and graduated with an engineering degree. My other niece graduated with a degree from Eau Claire. My brother-in-law was a two-term mayor of our town that we all grew up in and are still living here. As I'm writing this chat, my mouth is open because I'm just so discouraged and distraught and sad that intelligent, supposedly normal people were able to be totally conned by Donny and all his minions. I haven't spoken to her since the election. And as Trump's cabinet choices come into view, I grow angrier at them. I'm not sure how Thanksgiving is going to play out. My parents are 81 and 87. I'll likely go for them. But if they weren't alive, I assume this would be indefinitely the end of our connection, unless of course they wake up and flee the Trump Train back to sanity. My mom and dad have always pretty much voted Republican and they're on the left and are also disheartened and disappointed that my sister and her family and friends are on the right. But my mom says - don't let Trump win. Don't let him break up our family. But it's really hard to engage with people that you know voted for him and support him. I'm either going to need some heavy medication to get through this (joking) or some major counseling 😢😢😢.
