Regarding the video, some explanations are, the people sitting in the audience are his critics, hence they are kind of deaf/dumb to his success, the part where he throws the trophy is where he disses the grammy's, because he didn't get the album of the year, which he definitely deserved. The only girl without the mask, could be Selena Gomez or his former girlfriend, and their love hate relationship. There are definitely Jim Carry (from the Movie 'the mask') and The Joker vibes to this video. Definitely taken inspiration from them.

very well said as I wanted to explain that train of thought as well. If I can add to it, I believe the tempo and music is insprired from some of the sinth wave music from the 80's is maybe where he is getting these feelings from. If you grew up with Miami Vice you could get that vibe too. Non the less, it's a song you can feel for yourself when this song portrays is what an artists wants you to feel too

I think with the gun it was metaphorical...Like, "I messed you up by leaving, why don't you mess me up, I deserve it,"... Hence why she wanted to mess him up and shoot him out of frustration, but she just screamed instead... Then he was like, "I DESERVE THE PUNISHMENT FOR BREAKING YOUR HEART, SO WHY DON'T I JUST SHOOT/DESTROY MYSELF IF YOU WON'T BECAUSE I WAS HORRIBLE TO BREAK YOUR HEART!"... He said, "MESS ME UP FOR WHAT I DID TO YOU BY WALKING AWAY AND NOT CONSIDERING YOUR FEELINGS, I DESERVE IT!"... I get that because I've heard the whole album and he basically talks about how he was blind to her pain and she just pretended like she had no pain from his actions and put on a brave face about her pain and hid her pain behind a mask... He was like, "I know I was blind to your pain and just did my own thing and was selfish and played around on you, while you just tried to pretend you were OK and and not in pain and I understand."
