This video is perfect on so many levels, simply because The Weeknd is a Millennial and I feel like historically there’s always been a generational gap between young and old folks but for some reason, Millennials tend to seem more misunderstood and foreign so to see these gentleman not only listening to The Weeknd but also attempting to appreciate his work as an art form, it’s comforting. Thank you both for doing this. Also, I would compare this song’s message to that of New Order’s True Faith.

The song is based on his life where he used to use drugs often (maybe he still does or doesn’t) but then when the sirens come on he’s singing about a time when he got arrested and ended up in a cop car and most likely his lowest point (after fame) that he feels he’s lost his faith. I dont know how cant these matured people not understand such a simple interpretation of depression. He (weeknd) loved someone whom he lost, which led him to getting addicted to drug so much that he overdosed and found himself in an ambulance at the end. Especially since 8% on a smartphone phone battery and slow or no wi-fi is the end of the world to the kids these days. I sound like and old man and I'm only in my 40's. 😂😂😂 Old guy on the left might've benefited from having the lyrics up on a tablet/phone to look at but not before pressing play. The whole album that this song is from "After Hours" tells a story of heartbreak as well as diving into the oddities of Hollywood and how its affecting him - as well as him trying to escape that culture/lifestyle. This song is basically a look into something that legit happened to The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) in Vegas I believe in 2015, when he was under the influence, punched a police officer, and was arrested. It's a shame, because in real life he's actually a very sweet, caring, loving, and thankful man. His songs depict a character so deeply dark, but the man behind The Weeknd is a great guy. Figured I'd give a clearer background to this song :) Loved the video!! Can't wait to see more!

Interesting thing I noticed about older generation including my dad is that they are very observant about the lyrics of a song and the story that is being conveyed vs my generation (millenial/gen z) we prioritize the overall sound of the music and care less for lyrics.
