There was no greater musical experience than watching Levon Helm, with the Midnight Ramble Band, at "The Barn" in Woodstock!

who could known that 36 years after the band last performed, levon would still be singing this song with the same great smile on his face?

He was one of the most incredible singers that played an accompanied instrument. His timing & vernacular was off the chains. His delivery was in the league with Sinatra. But Frank only sang. Levon played skins & strings. Went through living hell & while going through it, has the time to help 1000's of kids. A whole lot of people's lives have been touched by that gentle soul. He was so full of love. And his music was mighty damn good, too. Shalom, big hearted guy.

Rest in Peace Levon , I pray that your spirit met with my son in the world beyond. You remind me of him. He's the spirit who died of a gunshot to his throat. I bet he's forgiven the coward whodid that to him. I know you two musicians would be complete comfortable welcoming souls .I just to think that he was there to greet you with his soft spoken introduction and handshake -friend to friend.

His bandleader Larry Campbell on Levon: "He's the one guy who can do any form of honest American Music w/ Authority. Southern Gospel like he grew up in the church, blues like he was born on the Delta, rock & roll like he was there at the beginning. He's The Delta of American Music."
