I have 2 trifold folding bikes of 20 inch.
One is a bike made of a light weight aluminum frame with dick brakes for a long ride one day touring, and another is a durable steel frame one with F/R carriers & fenders.
In this episode, I introduce how to customize for a light weight aluminum bike to reduce its weight lesser.
This model differs slightly from the Brompton design in stem shape, braking system, frame material, and folding method.
Aluminum frame is lighter than chromoly steel frames.
It is also equipped with disc brakes for enhanced braking power in wet weather.
I have changed its seat post and handle bar from the aluminum ones to carbon ones , and remove its rear carrier as to make its weight lesser.
As the result, its weight has been reduced from 13kg to 11.6kg.
Now I can use it easier to carry in the train car to move around with folding thanks to its lighter weight.
This bike is suitable for long ride touring with minimum baggage on its front carrier.
It has a long wheelbase, and it is compensate for a stable ride, a lighter frame, and a well-made bicycle that moves forward when I step on it, with rigid feeling.
I think it has better cost performance compared with a expensive titanium frame
I will bring this bike to Japan to travel Japan by trains.
With 20-inch wheels, it is easy to maintain a cruising speed of about 28 km/h or more.
I can cycle faster in cruising speed than original Brompton, because of the increased wheel size and wheel base length.
I can send this bike to anywhere in Japan easily by local delivery service with a low cost, and it will expand the area to visit and make my trip more fun.
