Rick Danko , incredible multi-insttrumentalist, like all the members of THE BAND . When that guy played bass ,he took the song exactly where it needed to go , and then when Ricky sings , his vocal could make a person weep !!! May his bass lines and vocals live forever !!!

I absolutely love the pan flute backtrack!! Made that bass easy to hear and fun to follow along with!! Cheers, excellent job!!

haha...thanks. It was an arpeggiator I found in GarageBand. It perfectly outlines the chords and like you said, it makes the bass easy to hear. Thanks :)

This is such a joy to watch and listen to! My band suggested doing a cover of this song, and upon listening to the song, was a bit intimidated. But I've found this really useful - and even if we don't end up covering the song, I've had a great time watching, listening and learning. Thank you!

@@BassCovers If there may be requests for other Bass Lines by Rick Danko from other songs of the Band ( or his Solo work or Albums with Levon, Paul Butterfield, Blonde Chaplin, etc. ) it'd be a pleasure if you'd take the time to transcribe those, too. Your " presentation " of the bass lines, played live with the notes as well as tabs being shown in real time is great. ( I know there are other music channels on youtube that use this method, too..... but your way of showing tabs as well as bass clef notation in real time is something I haven't seen very often. ( It's been awhile since I played bass on a daily.... or let's say regular basis, since my main instrument are the drums.....but being able to practice one of Rick's great " bouncy 😉⚡" bass lines really made my day and I'd really appreciate it, if you'd transcribe one or another of Rick's bass parts in the future. Stay safe, stay healthy.....and thanks for your efforts you put into your videos.🎶🎵🎸✌🏽

Hi Danny :) Thank you very much for the comment and request. I had a listen and it sounds like a fun song to play :) I'll add it to the "free" list...but that list has gotten pretty long though so I can't say for sure when it will be? Thanks again!

Rick had great intonation on that Ampeg fretless. Being a Canadian you must be very proud of Rick and Garth.
@BassCovers5 жыл бұрын
hey Dennis. I have to be honest. I did not know he was using a fretless on this one...really? :) Yes, there are many fine musicians I'm proud to have been born in the same country as...and those are definitely two of them ;) Thanks for the comment!
@fenjazz45 жыл бұрын
I know he played it live I was at a show in Pittsburg, Pa in 1970 and one in Cleveland in 1969 and Danko used the same Ampeg fretless. I couldn’t same the same for the recording, but as you know these guys were pretty good.

hey Dennis! That's cool you saw them live...very cool! :) How'd they sound? I saw a clip of them doing the Weight from Woodstock. They sound really good! From what I can tell on that video it looks like he's playing a Fender Jazz or maybe a Pbass? At any rate, I have mucho respect for the man and I'm sure he would've sounded great on whatever instrument he used :)

Greg Fairweather do you have a lesson on playing bass at a jam session to rock songs you don’t know but are comfortable with the chord changes? I am a guitar player making my way into bass because we need a bass player at jams
@BassCovers4 жыл бұрын
@@jakebush8941 Hi Jake, I don't have a lesson for that. It's a real good idea though ;) In the meantime, think about roots and 5ths and listen to the drummer/song. If you're more advanced think about triads...this can go a long way ;) Have fun! :)

Hi there; great stuff. I can't find the link to the transcription on that Muzento website...do I need to sign up and enroll in order to get it? I'd happily send you a few dollars for it if it can be downloaded elsewhere. Thanks and please advise...

Hi David. Thank you very much. The easiest way to get this transcription is through my website - www.gregstranscripts.com/home-1 - there is a Search window in the top right. Please note there are two files types. TAB and Notation or Notation alone. Thanks again :)
