I recall the Arabic dub renaming Lord Wily into "Gahanmi" which from Egyptian accent into English translates into "Hellish".. And I always thought it was a very badass name. Edit: I just remembered the MistMan.exe episode.. It was nothing short of hilarious.

To be fair it was only the dub that was particularly weird and goofy. The Japanese version of show/ manga are complete different and even had another 2 extra seasons from what I remember and were a bit darker like yu gi oh was. Star force was probably my favorite megaman dubbed tho cause it stuck closer to original since it was on toonami jet stream

This era of Megaman is one that influenced me to an incredible degree when i was a young impressionable kid. I used to have a bunch of the toys, i still have the GBA cartridges i watched the show whenever it came on if i could find my childhood notebooks from elementary school i'd probably be able to find sketches of the characters in the pages. Whenever i draw stuff my "Default" guy and girl just end up looking kinda like Lan and Mayl so something here had to end up clicking with me. The Megaman RPG's and Pokemon generations 3 and 4 are just peak childhood nostalgia, so having Sinnoh games and the battle network collection on the Switch really makes me happy.

The games were good, but the third one flopped so hard. With the introduction of the Wizards apparently everyone was able to see Omega-Xis and the feature to trans everywhere you wanted were a big fail if you had the misfortune of playing the games in succession as I did. Omega-Xis went from a FM-ian that didn't care about anything but survival to being only a little bit concerned about Geo in the second one to completely destroying his character in the third one by making him both a goody two shoes and a complete hothead that thinks he needs to prove he is strong for some reason. The trans situation is what I consider the worst thing the could do, in the first two Geo had to find designated spots to transform into Megaman which helps him protect his identity and was something that they stressed a lot throughout the games, but then the third came out and not only after he transforms he's labeled by the police as Megaman which immediately blows his cover, now he can trans anywhere, even in front of NPCs without any consequence, yet no one actually knows his identity besides his brothers and now the police. The decision you had to make on what to item to save isn't important to the story(I never considered choosing other than Luna's) but anyways the weak ending was frankly disappointing and apparently unlike Lan, Geo doesn't end up in a relationship with either Sonia or Luna(Best girl by a long shot).

@@Glaugan I feel it's because the gap between SF 2 and SF 3 was too big lore-wise. A lot of the characters suddenly having good relationships with the previously hostile FM-ians felt abrupt e.g. Tauros suddenly liking Bud, Wolf accompanying Damian, etc. It's implied through Transcode# that every previous FM-ian we've faced now has a good relationship with their human hosts, with some exceptions like Luna and Ophiuchus. It's not a bad plotpoint, but there wasn't much build-up and it only came up whenever it's convenient e.g. Wolf Woods fighting Jack Corvus on the school rooftop. That being said, SF 3 definitely could've done better. At least it got some ending, unlike a certain Legend.

The thing is that actually was a plot twist from the first BN game (and got referenced occasionally in 2 and 3) so it wasn't something they made up for the show. The show was different though from the games so I kind of see why potentially it would've been better if they left that detail out.
@robertreck431
@robertreck431 9 ай бұрын
@@connormclaren3183 In the games, Dr. Hikari (LAN’s Dad) used digitized DNA from Hub (brother’s name) in building MegaMan. This was not only to keep the boy alive however possible, but because he had already been working on building a DNA-based Navi with true free will. The boys being twins, genetically identical, meant that they could have the strong bond Dad envisioned for this new kind of Navi-Operator relationship (though he also introduced a small DNA divergence so the boys wouldn’t share pain in battle). Basically MegaMan is Hub personality-wise, per the game’s stance on genetics and personality, but treats himself as a separate entity for the most part.

Dude!! Which PET color did you get? The Advanced PET that they released in the west, right?? I had ProtoMan’s PET and it always bothered me that MegaMan was the Navi they used in all the PETs 😂 But I ordered a Progress PET from overseas when I was a kid, and despite not being able to read shit because it was all in Japanese, it was still such a joy to actually see ProtoMan’s face, and the little mini game they built in where you explore the net, and the built in tournament mode, it was all so much fun 😍 gosh that was my favorite toy. AND they added a silent mode on the Progress PET, so you could actually take it to school without getting in trouble for all the beeping 😂 And now, as a 28 year old man, I still have reoccurring dreams that I’m playing with that old thing. I just moved, and I got so excited when I found both of my PETs, as well as my little brother’s (who had MegaMan’s Advanced and Progress PET), and ALL the Battle Chips we had collected over the years 🥰 Oh the nostalgia!!!

I'd tune in every morning until they stopped airing it and replaced it with SAO and more mature animes. A year later I finally got a hand on my first phone and went looking up Rockman in Google slowly learning about the lore via images and finally stumbling upon the GBA games which I played on emulator. I was so happy when I saw there's alot of games to play and I had spent my whole summer playing all of it. Man, battle network 6 was like capcom perfecting the formula. The story was great and being able to fuse with other navis was so cool. Not to mention the cybeast forms making you feel like a monster. The reboots for the ds and 3ds kind of scratched that itch, but not in the same way 6 did.

I remember this from when I was a kid! I had Double Team DS (for some reason always preferring Protoman, think the Zero series was popular and appreciated his character design and saw Protoman as similar, also swords). I remember going out of my way in high school to watch the rest of Access all the way to Beast (the MMBN6 adaptation), even somewhat memorizing the OP song for Beast. I kinda wanted to see Lan and Maylu get together, which kinda happened? There was that whole love triangle thing in both the real world and the internet between Lan, Maylu and Jasmine along with their Navis during Stream (the MMBN5 adaptation), but didn't seem to go much further beyond that. There was also a parental arc when Trill came on the scene, and quite frankly I don't remember what became of that, don't remember if there was a big sacrifice or some other way the baby was written out. An incarnation of Iris would show up and just make things awkward on that front in Beast. I would say I was young and stupid, but I'm still an idiot anime shipper. I even went as far as to write my first fanfic on this series (utter cringe). I grew to like the X series later on, but even now, my image of Colonel usually defaults to his EXE incarnation. Thank you for reminding me of another one of my past gems.

I LOVE THIS MEGAMAN. Straight up- next to Digimon, THIS was my obsession in elementary and middle school. I saw the anime and played all the games from beginning to end. I still have all the manga volumes! The anime is much weirder than the games, imo. The anime went off on…Tangents. It’s no replacement for the games. And the dub only made it to Axess. The last 3 seasons weren’t touched. Though some fans will tell you that was for the best because later seasons got *weirder* (iirc Season 4, Beast, a bunch of characters get isekaid.) There was also a movie that was only released in Japan. Sadly, the anime’s last season (Beast+) wasn’t even really an ending. It’s incredibly short and doesn’t wrap up a lot (iirc- it’s been a long time.) It’s worth noting that the dub also suffered from the typical censorship that happened to anime for kids in the 2000s. And some episodes were skipped. But it wasn’t anything detrimental to overarching series. Just comedic, filler episodes that didn’t contribute much. I also remember seeing a subbed episode where there were close up shots of Maylu’s butt (mind you- she’s like 10/11.) If stuff like that was censored for a kids’ network, I don’t think a lot of people nowadays would complain. Anyway, TL;DR- this series means a lot to me. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially the games. And while it’s not complete, I adore the dub of this series too. The voice acting holds up and I would recommend watching it dubbed.

The Star Force series, which was in many ways the innovation that Battle Network lacked, eventually had a system for generating cards (chips) from other games in the series. Each game had over 100 normal chips, 30 mega chips (with some version exclusives) and 5 giga chips (all version exclusives), with only a smaller portion of these being carried from game to game. Having the full library of the entire star force series was great for the deckbuilding aspect, and it would've been a breath of fresh air for later battle network to draw on previous games' libraries, in addition to their own.

OH MY GOODNESS, I was just listening to Megaman music and then you just uploaded this. I remember watching a fair bit of this when I was younger, it's soo cool to see you go through this (even if it isn't completely faithful (nor canon) to the source material from the games). The coolest exclusive thing to this anime has to be the cross fusion (especially in Stream and the Beast Cross fusion looked really cool as well).

That and Axess. But Stream, Beast, Beast Plus and the movie were NEVER dubbed, so all the US got are NT Warrrior and Axess. Fun fact: There was an episode of Axess that ONLY aired in Canada back in the day, and it was considered lost media until now. The episode is "Spoutman's New Hero"

Loved playing classic Megaman (Megaman 6 to be more precise) since I was a kid. I remember enjoy watching Megaman NT Warrior with my youngest sibling on Saturday here in Canada (YTV). I eventually rented the first game on my GBA (Game Boy Advance) and enjoyed it as well, unfortunately I was saving up for college at the time and really couldn't afford new games. Skip ahead to present day, I'm thinking of picking up the Megaman Battle Network collection on Switch (as well as Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp) soon.

Was really excited to see this in my sub feed! The NT warrior era of Megaman is what inspired my tag when I first made it 20 years ago for Neopets 😂 I was mainly interested in the video games, but I also had the TCG and the advanced PET toy. Oddly enough, I never felt really connected to the anime despite watching Kids WB every Saturday. I think your description of how it was rolled out might explain why. Great video!

For the manga, the only harder to get one you're missing is 8 from the looks of things. Most of the ones past that seemed available when I was thinking about replacing mine. (I used to bring them to school in my backpack almost daily) It's VERY cool seeing someone acknowledge these! I sometimes meet people who played the games or saw parts of the show, but it's rare to see someone who read the manga, too!

I have absolutely loved this series since the beginning when I was a teenager! I’m so happy to see it having a little resurgence. I’m so glad you mentioned the TCG, it was actually a solid game and some people still play it to this day! Heck, even the games have a small but thriving esports scene! I still have the manga volumes, I have some DVDs of the anime, and I still have my PET toy with five battle chips! Unfortunately the top window part broke off years ago. Still love it tho! Thank you for covering this small and unique, but very important part of my childhood!

I have to say Jordan, you DEFIDENTLY did your homework on the MMBN series and extensively talked about it in a nostalgically good way and you also did this because the Legacy Collection game came out today when this video came up and did it to get all of the views from the release of it, and I am not mad at that play whatsoever. I grew up with these games and in middle school, I defidently remember playing these games, especially MMBN6 with 1 of my good closest friends and I still treasure that time immensely. I loved the anime also and the different but similar arcs and story-telling that it did and the manga was so well done and emotinally gripping to read and collect. Overall, MMBN is a memorable series that is now getting a second chance to bask in the spotlight and this video of yours will help out with that venture. Also, Chauds name is announced Ch-au-d, not Chud, lol

As an electronics engineer "jack in" might sound funny to others, but it sounds just fine to me, because the Ethernet connector (used to connect to networks) is called an RJ45, which is short for Registered *Jack*-45.

I think my favorite part of the series growing up was seeing how different the characters that carried over from the other Mega Man series' were in the new series. Not to mention a lot of the posters and stuff in the background were from my favorite Mega Man series (Mega Man Legends). To this day, Legends and Battle Network are still the Mega Man games I revisit the most, and I'm glad they finally released the Legacy Collection for Battle Network (would love to see them do Legends at some point).

I'm having one big nostalgia moment while watching this. I remember being so hyped up by the cartoon that my mom rented a copy of Blue Moon for me, which I played at every chance I got. It actually inspired me enough to build a PET out of lego with accompanying chips. That remains as my biggest and only exposure to Megaman as a franchise.

I never really played Battle Network until I bought the first one on a whim on the Wii U e-shop....only a couple months before it closed for good, and I enjoyed it and bought the second. I freaking loved this show as a kid! I remember getting all excited for it every Saturday morning in the early to mid 2000s. Some of the scenes in the show are still stuck in my head to this day. Like the one where Lan was always being late to school but then at the end of the episode, he thinks he's on time and it turns out there was no school that day even waking Megaman up for no reason. Then there was the train episode. That one was insane! And then some villains cut the cords of their NetNavi's but their characters still remained on the field. Also MegaMan getting deleted was a big episode.
