Just goes to show, don't judge a kid having a supposed melt down. Kids go through different physical and mental thoughts being injured. Some are like omg that's so cool, I can see my bone! And others feel the full force of pain and panic. I'm with the full force of pain and panic kid, but he still did so well!

@@traceypotter7669 my first thought was whether or not the child is autistic. As a school RN, I've seen autistic kids react in highly variable ways to pain. Some shut down and completely stop interacting while others have complete meltdowns bc they are so overwhelmed they don't know what to do with themselves.

@@RealLifeRescue That's why moms break down and lose it...the guilt, the fear, the willing their child safe, their child's hopes and dreams, are all carried in a loving mom/mum. We can't accept that we ourselves can't do anything more at that moment, and when we just watch others doing the saving, we just want to jump in and DO SOMETHING, yet we know we are not the experts at that time, and their best chance is with experts. Or worse, when we see our child on direct path to 'oh shit' and can't do anything ourselves, to help. We cry because that's all we CAN do and all our love for our child is contained in those tears falling hard and fast. We ARE in the midst of losing ourselves, because our children are forever part of us.

@@TheJudiBambiPurrsParadox My mother was always the strong and calm type whenever my sister and I got hurt. We didn't learn until well into our adulthoods that after we were okay she would breakdown hard. I never once saw her panic or cry, but she and my dad assured us she did in private afterwards. I'm not a mother so I can't imagine what strength of will she has that she could hold off those feelings as long as she did, given some of our injuries over the years! Moms of either type, crying outright and worried, or strong and worried, are warriors in my opinion!

That little boy with the jellyfish accident broke my heart. I’ve been stung once before and I haven’t gone inside the beach with the water above my knees ever again. Went a whole year with the tentacles mark on my leg and the form of the jellyfish behind my thigh. People would ask me what that was and they would be amazed by my answer. It’s the worst feeling ever, but I was thankful it stung me and not my little brother.

When the dude passed me on steps he turnwd around and said " i said excuse you" while obvoously havimg plenty of spacr to walk up a 4 or 5 foot wide steps im not in middle either. I turnwd around zaid " good for u in heavy accent being upset" he pulled a gun out with a fuxming 36 round stick on it idl whrte tf it was but i didnt even flinch simple said cool everyone in stl has one and he said i dare u to grab yours. And then decided fuck it and shot me with a 45acp from less then 15 ft away luckily my shin stayed intact my fibiya exploded from force going down my shin and thay saved my life as i had dove and rolled and got up on my feet with my gun drawn and put the whole mag of 9mm hollow in him reloaded . Started doing first aid to myself while calling 911 and driving myself with right leg on dash and left foot down to slow the blood lose i couldnt make it tight enough and had 2 blood transufusions. I can't imagine how it feels to be a parent and just have to watch your kid in pain, not being able to do anything, even as someone who is quite the protective friend who hates seeing people hurt, when one of my friends is in pain it breaks my heart to not be able to help, like one time me and my friend went skating and she fell and landed on her arm, her arm went behind her back and i think she dislocated her shoulder or something like that, and all i could do was try to comfort her while she cried and the people working there helped her waiting for the doctors, or, whoever came, this was a long time ago so i don't remember well, but it was horrible. Huge respect to those parents and all of yall too, because you also have to deal with all those people in pain and you do such a good job handling it.

@plumdutchess He was younger than the sea urchin kid and the fact that it was all over his entire leg too. It also became a cycle where he was in pain, everything was overwhelming as a result, he was scared which all added up to make him get so upset, then it just countinued and each thing just kept piling on top of one another. I think considering the circumstances we have no right to judge/criticize the kid for his response or compare his response to another kids.

1:30 for all those who would like to know the best way to get the hook out of the skin is to actually push down and inwards away from the barb that would be on the tip of the hook ( visualize a hook in your head and where it is in the skin, push away from the barb side) then keep witht hat direction of pushing away from barb side and work the hook back out of the skin its a pain in the ass, and many might go the second route of pushing it so the pointy end fo the hook and the barb poke back out of the skin in a new wound snip that off and pull it out the original hole

If you try to pull a fishing hook out the way it came, the barbs get stuck against your skin and rip more out. Doctors will numb the area, cut the end off the hook and push it all the way through out the other side.

you actually push it through first, then cut the end with the barb and pull it out the way it got in. another way is wrapping fishing line around the hook several times, apply pressure on each side and then swiftly pulling it out, though that way *can* get messy real fast if you dont know what youre doing

That sucks. One time in a fishing pier a dude flung his hook into my head and hooked my scalp when I was a little girl lol. He said it was my fault I got hooked, too even though I was just walking with my family. Still think he should of been paying attention to who was behind him before he cast.

Harries, unflappable champion, saves the day again! Hot water denatures the protiens in the sting. Essentially cooking it . Don't know why this isn't the first course of treatment. Not a criticism. Love Bondi lifesavers, always have.❤😊

When we used to go fishing off the land we often had to clear up hooks, line and rubbish from good fishing spots. If you can carry something to use use it and carry it back home. Don't leave any rubbish

I would like to suggest after watching the difficulties in driving rescue vehicles on crowded beach ,you could mark out a vehicle lane only for life savers or rescuers ,using poles and rope or ribbon ,this would allow your vehicle s to react safer and quicker avoiding the public , just food for thought ❤❤❤ respect

We lived right on the beach, when we got stung by jelly fish or blue bottle, she would crush up a few pure aspirin and a few drops of water to make a paste, and put that on it, I'd say after a few minutes it did help!!!

When there is a fish in the leg, you are supposed to poke another hole through the skin and pull it out that way, because pulling it out will cause more damage that just poking another hole because there’s little barbs facing backwards, which will pull out muscle and flesh

oh my god I remember when I broke my arm, the doctor gave me something close to a green whistle and it subsided the pain so much that I thought I was overreacting on the car ride to the hospital- I was literally seconds away from telling my dad it didn't hurt anymore when he said "the painkiller kicked in yet?" and this wave of relief washed over me like "oh thank goodness I'm not faking it it's just the painkiller made it stop hurting-"

I got a fish hook in my neck in the middle of a road trip. We had forgotten to take the hooks off of the fishing poles before putting them behind me in the car. Over a bump it swing off the pole and went into my neck. It was pretty deep but my mom is a nurse so we pulled over into a gas station and she just pulled it out as I’m sitting in our mini van lol! 😂 I have a scar and can still feel it!
