I also beat it as a kid, but yeah it took me quite a lot of tries for the final area and the Neptune boss fight, but I actually found them challenging in a fun way. I appreciate them not pulling any punches despite it being a silly Spongebob game.

I had a demo disk of this game. It only had 3 levels: The one with the two hillbillies, one with the krabby patty mobile, and the one with Patrick jumping on ice cubes in the void. I didn’t have a lot of games back then so those levels, and also the other games on that disk are seared into my brain.

The GBA version is pretty good, had it as a kid. It's also pretty hard, I always had issues with the skull level because it was timed and the level with the lights that dry you up, because it was also timed. Took me a bunch of years probably to beat it.

Holy shit, I had the PC point-and-click version and this is the first time I've seen anyone tall about it. I almost thought I dreamed it up. It was one of my favorite games I owned as a kid, tied with my Freddi Fish collection. At one point I remember playing so many times that I had the whole game memorized. I could beat it in under an hour, and I would play JUST to BE PLAYING it

actually due to the fact this game was rushed before the movie was released within a year, some things in the game werent the final version, like the goofy goober section was supposed to be in the movie as a dream section but was cut, David Hasselhoff didnt join the movie til the last moment either, also the cutscenes go from actual still frams from the final movie, to storyboard drawings, to ms paint

I once tried a run where i didn’t upgrade either health bars or moves. It was honestly not too bad until the last arena fights (with the enemies from planktopolis). There’s also a section at the end of planktopolis where three mervs spawn, and this is basically impossible. Without the upgrade karate spin, you can’t deflect their missiles, and you’ll be hit by their missiles because your guitar attack won’t reach them without the lock on upgrade.

When I was a kid, I found a double pack of this and BFBB at Gamestop. I liked both just fine, but this one was weirdly my favorite of the two. I think I even got 100% of the extras at some point, but no way I got all the Goofy Goober Tokens. I couldn't get through the Manly Time Trial stages to save my life. Heck, maybe I should try to find this game for myself again sometime. See how it holds up almost two decades later.

I played the game on my GameCube NONSTOP along with Battle for Bikini Bottom when I had my tonsils removed as a kid. I always had a connection with it, even if the blockage of progressing really bugged me because I just wanted to continue, and the time and ring challenges? Don't even get me started. The platforming levels though, I adored. Upgrading an ability was so rewarding. I unfortunately never finished this game, I only made it to Shell City, Dead Ahead and got stuck, and I don't even think I own it anymore, but both of those SpongeBob games were my happiness when I was in severe pain. The Gameboy version I still have paired with SpongeBob SuperSponge, but ugh I hate the password system. And for that I've never beaten that version, farthest I might have gotten was the third world if I was feeling it.

The Xbox version has most of the same levels and models, but the controls were much more fluent. It's as if the PlayStation version was ported from the Xbox with little fine tuning. Either that or it was improved on Xbox. (Dunno the release timing) The only things I really hated about the game were the driving stages, and the design of the void stages that made you feel like you're about to vomit.

I cant believe you didn't like the driving segments, or getting the tokens. Those were some of my favorite things to do in this game. They add so much replay value. Also, im surprised someone got stuck on the button thing in the level with all the big TVs. I thought it was always obvious. Lol I disagree _heavily_ with some of your points, but like Creature From the Krusty Krab, I absolutely adore this game. Its my second favorite SpongeBob game, and was the first SpongeBob game I ever played.

It's good in fact almost better than the movie, but it's got flaws like photoshop from the movie and the fact that Mendy forces you to get Goofy Goober tokens but it's never explained why we need tokens for power ups, what does Mendy want with the tokens, and it makes her a lot more unlikable.
