Hearing about the NHS from a British friend is why I'm fiercely protective of our American health system, even though it definitely needs improvement. But last year I needed a quick doctor appointment and prescription for something which -- if treated quickly -- would be minor; but if delayed, wouldn't require hospitalization, because I've had it before. It was over a holiday weekend, and I was still able to get an appointment the very next day, and thus avoided having to be hospitalized. And my insurerance covered it, and they also saved money this way, because they only had to pay for the appointment and the prescription, no hospital needed. And I was back to normal health more quickly, too.

The point Carl comes up with regarding the Orwell quote about lefties feeling better being caught stealing from the poor is extremely accurate. If you look at current left-wing policy and the effect it has on the working classes, the poorest in society, it is very literally stealing money from their pocket and preventing them ever being able to escape their position in life - social mobility always goes down massively when the welfare state expands.

I'm an Egyptian living in Egypt, i had a good education and went to an international British school. I went to university in canada and it took me a while and a lot of effort and unlearning then relearning to become accustomed to life in canada and with Canadians. I agree completely with Carl, culture shifting needs to be expected from newcomers and heavy vetting its not a free for all and there is a legal process that is being undercut. Why not ask for quality newcomers? Why allow an over representatiom of men being most illegals to mess with the home demographics. This is not organic and is not good for cultural relations both inside and outside. This wont end well and it makes me anxious

My parents tell stories of their parents making great effort to integrate in the past from changing their names to trying to speak only English at home. As well forgetting any allegiance to their previous country. What's amazing in the modern Era it seems that sort of integrating behavior is not promoted by the government and even that community. The combination of the sheer volumes of people with low standards by the government ans the welfare state created this weird ghettoized canada we now live in

One way to frame the immigration situation is: "why are the elite importing a foreign servant class". I've used this line to normies and even ones who are pro immigration stop and think and tend to see my point.
@OnlineEnglish-wl5rp
@OnlineEnglish-wl5rp 4 ай бұрын
It's not really about a servant class since the economic elite don't have much to do with them. The bank of England and the Treasury use mass immigration to set unemployment at about 7%. An oversupply of labour is the key to keeping working people on their toes and prevent wages from rising. It also keeps expanding the debt bubble and increases the consumer base. Since the 50s pretty much every trick has been tried to expand the supply of labour from feminism to deindustrialisation to mass immigration / refugees. It's really that simple - the bigger the supply, the lower the price. And the massively reduced power of organised labour also means that virtually all the productivity gains have gone to owners of capital also

Good points raised here. Small personal observation of Swindon recently having grown up there. I walked through the town centre on Boxing day with my family and found the centre aside from the boarded up, rundown shops the demographic seen there were almost exclusively young middle eastern men who appeared to be doing nothing in particular. it felt alien. The bizarre thing is that while Swindon has never been a thrilling place to live it was never particularly poor. Solid, blue collar town that was by English standards friendly. It has a long history of accepting migrants (i speak particularly of Polish migrants that came after world war 2) . Earlier generations of migrants were hard working, polite and productive and integrated into the town. This isn't the case now and it shows. The neighbours in the centre that were once clean and now a mess you see visible signs of petty criminality. A glance at the crime statistics for the area reveals that there are trending problems in the town. Sadly this isn't unique to Swindon alone. Multiculturalism zealots need to own up and accept that this doctrine is a failure. Remarks in relation to Dubai are correct. People in the UAE genuinely do fear law and more importantly deportation. Also worth remembering here that people are unable to become true UAE citizens and there is no democracy and with that ethnic groups are not able to influence the politics in the region. The UAE do routinely suspend visas from specific countries. Interesting conversation. Many thanks.

My questions is, so declining birth rates in the West is an issue, yea we all get that so (controlled and smartly selected) immigration is always needed to maintain economies & maintain positive GDPs (which looks good for whatever political party is in, therefore they use these stats to try and get reelected). What benefit is it to any country to allow unchecked immigration of people who have zero intention of working, or becoming a contributor to the host country's economy?????????????? In fact large % of these people hate the host country! We are seeing this suicidal uncheck immigration happening all over the West, UK, Europe, US even Australia has ridiculous immigration rates meanwhile there is a out of control housing and rental crisis down under, yet the Government continues, against the will of the taxpayer to bring in these unsustainable numbers of people. Why? What is going on with all of this? There is something far sinister happening to the West.

@OnlineEnglish-wl5rp True. Fortunately, in the West everyone is free to acquire capital and leverage it to obtain more. Massive leaps upward on the socio-economic ladder require brilliance, risk, extreme dedication, luck, or maybe some combination of those. That said, there is no one born in the West that does not have the ability to ascend a rung or rwo on the scale through work and good decision making. Freedom has its costs, and no one is ever truly free. No man is an island. As for the history of land owners getting to vote, that's simply the idea that only those who support the system should be allowed to steer the direction it moves. In the early days, land owners were the ones paying the taxes, therefore they earned the vote. It is more complicated, yes, but that was the principle. Bastiat wrote about what happens when those that only drain the system are allowed to vote themselves more benefits. We're now seeing just how right he was.

Multiculturalism has been a roaring success, done exactly as planned. Instead of integration and assimilation we have parallel societies which have conserved and maintained their culture and ideology. That is Multiculturalism as intended. It never meant assimilation and integration, that would be inter/intra-culturalism, thats what we used to do before Blair and Brown did their Multiculturalism experiment that we never asked for and didn't want. It is worth noting that when people point at Braverman etc and say 'look Multiculturalism is working' they are pointing at those who have ASSIMILATED and adopted our ways and cultural views, Braverman and Patel arent the products of Multiculturalism but integration. It amazes me how few are able to make this distinction. Our leaders and elites are not sharp, intellectual people, they are sycophantic brown-nosing yes-men. Or to put it differently: Multiculturalism is a novel political experiment which by nature creates parallel societies as it doesn't expect assimilation and integration, and demands that the culture of the host nation is destroyed and subverted lest we cause offence. Much of the speech restrictions are a result of Multiculturalism, a way to shut us up from saying what we see and think. Multiculturalism and diversity is not strength but a challenge at best. Multiculturalism is asymmetric in nature and the indigenous population are expected to do all the work of change to help new people feel comfortable. All other cultures must be preserved apart from the native ones. This is why cultural Marxists work so hard to destroy our history and invent myths about others, the idea is that native people won't even know what their culture is so they won't lament its passing. The 2 major drivers of civil war are religious/ethnic diversity and unstable governments. We were never asked and we can see where this is going.

With regards to Dubai, the issue is still multiculturalism Zuby. The doctrine of multiculturalism states that no culture can be dominant or be considered better than any other - even the native culture. This is the thing that many people get wrong. Pluralism on the other hand, allows for multiple cultures, but with a dominant one, under which everyone follows the same rules and values. Dubai works because it follows pluralism, not multiculturalism. The west is failing because it is (under progressive liberalism), following multiculturalism and indeed going even further. In the last few decades, we have shifted from treating everyone equally under the law (native and immigrant alike), which is what you said happens in Dubai, to not only not attempting to integrate newcomers to the native culture, but actually treating them differently because their values and cultural norms are considered equally valid and to compensate for both real and imagined historical oppression. Having said that, this was a fantastic discussion and I wish it could have gone on much longer.

i agree with Zuby on most things but i think he is wrong about how some people see black culture in america as more violent, because it is. they are less than 15% of the population but they commit over 51% of the homicides and 52% of the robberies according to FBI Data Table 43. its not racist to understand threat risks. logically someone would be in more risk of danger walking through some sketchy poor neighborhood in St Louis than they would in some poor Amish trailer park in Pennsylvania or Kentucky or wherever. culture matters and its not just an economic issue, because there are so many dirt poor cultures that are very peaceful.

Precisely, it is the antithesis of multiculturalism. Zuby's description of Abu Dhabi being "multicultural" doesn't hold water because the local culture is one of strict adherence to local law, customs and norms. Outsiders, despite being practitioners of different cultures, understand this and act in accordance to Abu Dhabi's ethos. If it were to allow the practice of different cultures and their respective "norms", then I wager it would be a very different place altogether.

Multiculturalism as in multiple cultures at the same place at the same time doesn’t work! One culture that sets and actually enforces the rules with people of different cultures living there does.

haven't heard Carl talk for a few years now after 2020 came and I cut way back on culture and political media. He's gotten a lot better in some of his blind spots, and he was always articulate. Very impressed with his analysis and commentary in this whole thing.

41:42 There were so many Germans in colonial America that German was very seriously considered in the discussion of what should be the "national language" - though if I recall correctly the US government never officially declared a "national language." It just kind of de facto became English.

Ethnic Nationalism is not polite but it is true. You can acknowledge that a specific ethnic group is the primary container for “the values” but that doesn’t mean others cannot participate or reside in limited numbers on an agreed basis of mutual respect.

Dubai works so well because of solid Law and Order policies. Very few people dare to commit a crime because they know the consequences will be Swift and severe. This has been lost in the west. Dubai is also free of politics it is a Serene and lovely place to be.

You also know what helps a multicultural society flourish? Second class citizenship. There are the first class citizens. The ethnic people of the land, they are the stewards of the land and as such are above all other people in standing. They are allowed to vote. They benefit from the government structure. They get defended by the law from the other citizens. The second class citizens are the workers. They are hired by the stewards to perform tasks for them. They are there with a purpose. To earn large sums of money that they use to care for their family or better their standing in their home country. At no point are they ever acknowledged as more than workers. They are there temporarily until they can no longer work and will be made to go home unless they have the money to stay. Dubai works because there are the people of Dubai, and then there are all the other people.

Dubai 'works' because the Muslims are on top. Western 'multicultural' countries because they're full of mass-imported Muslims who are not on top, and whose mission it is to force the infidel into submission. No other group causes any sh1t.

Why would anyone respect a culture fully and actively complicit in its own demise, one which teaches its own children not only to hate what they have but to feel guilt and shame for their forefathers who built it, who fought and died defending it? What is there to respect?

I think the biggest problem the west faces beyond debt, immigration and the breakdown of the family, is the utter break up the judicial and legal system. As Zuby so correctly posed: the Middle East has extreme strict rules when it comes to crime. They have their laws and their ways and are more than willing to enforce them to the point of, in some cases, death. Now, one might not agree with those rules and those enforcements, but as either a native or an immigrant one is subjected to those standards and will be held accountable upon those standards. The west has either forgotten that or has be willing to erode, which in my opinion, is the break down of the back bone of society.

Enoch Powell argued years ago that liberal democratic traditions would be impossible to sustain in a context of ethnic communal diversity. If you want law, order and cultural cohesion then you either need homogeneity and democracy or diversity and imperialism.

Like the cockneys I too feel like I’m being exiled but not from London. From my own country. The Palestinian protests showed this. Regardless of your view on the foreign conflict the massive support for something happening half way across the world shows that Britain has been absorbed by immigrants. I have a family with 2 young children. My wife doesn’t want to move country. So what else can we do? My children will grow up not knowing our heritage, in my own country.

Japan is being forced down the same dangerous path. The area my wife grew up in, When I first visited it about 15 year ago was entirely Japanese, A lot of old people, Very safe and very nice. Now its an Islamic ghetto with high crime, stabbings, rapes, gangs, hit and runs. For some insane reason people voted for a communist mayor and he starting bringing in Kurdish PKK (Communist terror group) members and they've been pushing for more and more of the relatives to flood in. Locals are miserable but the media only does puff pieces on "Vibrant diversity"

When Zuby was explaining Dubai it reminded me of San Francisco in the 70s and 80s. There was respect for the culture. People that lived there, in all walks of life, knew something special was going on. There certainly wasn't low crime. But everyone felt like they had as good a shot as the next guy. That's because they really did. The only thing necessary to get ahead then was a clear vision and hard work.

I like the test of friendship concept- coming into a country in good faith, assimilating & contributing vs those that come in bad faith to take advantage & refuse to adapt to the country's culture. The UK needs to adopt some kind assessment for everyone not born on British soil to demonstrate how they're contributing to society as a pre- requisite to remain as a GUEST here

I am so glad Carl has stopped some of his former behaviours like that horrible joke - and he now speaks against violence against MPs. Good. We have to celebrate everything it is to be British. Our songs, our dances, our stories, our laws, music, inventions, religions. Our great minds - Brunel, Freeborn John, Haydn. We have so much to celebrate. We need to do it and do it publicly and more often. We need festivals every month. There is one based around Daphne du Maurier. But there are no readings of her work. We need to love what we love and share it. Read Dickens together publicly, read Du Maurier at her festival, sing Gaelic and Gaels and Welsh and Cornish etc songs. We need to love our nation and show our love for her.

I really appreciate this conversation. Specifically the tone. I’m “on the Left”. I felt there was a bit of straw manning of the progressive perspectives, values, and ideals. I’d almost go back and time stamp examples and make counterpoints, but don’t have time for that! Really appreciate the chat fellas and glad to see that Carl Benjamin isn’t the devil my lefty brainwashers tell me he is. And I also, completely cherish the sentiment and stance for the preservation of cultures: Cockneys, too!
