Red Dead Redemption 2 needs no introduction. The Rockstar behemoth is probably the most anticipated game of this and previous generations. There's a lot of great songs out there about how fun it is to ride a horse but the theme of the final days of the west really interested me historically, so this is a lament for the golden age of the Old West.
A massive thank you to the wonderful SquigglyDigg for bringing this song to life with her vocal brilliance. I've wanted to work with her for the longest time so I'm very excited to have her on board for this one!

A lot of southern accents are European accents slowed down and slightly changed over time: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3_UimmcqdZ6p5I So it's not that uncommon for British people to be able to do southern accents pretty well (though I've heard some atrocious southern accents from Brits!). My dad was absolutely flummoxed to hear Andrew Lincoln from the walking dead in an interview bc "I thought he was a Georgia boah!" (Yes, we're southern lol)

As a history nerd, one line stands out the most for me: “How you gonna build a house with the foundation erased”. Even just 50 years after the turn of the century people had already mostly forgotten about the American West. Those who lived in it had all mostly died off and many people who grew up in it hated it. The west was either unknown or romanticized beyond all accuracy. The origin of the modern US, almost forgotten.

One of the things I like the most about your songs, or at least this song, in particular, is that you forgo the "easy" (for lack of a better term) road of just summarizing the plot or characters of the game into a rap but instead you try and tackle the games themes or some sort of deeper meaning which is something you don't see with some other nerdcore rappers. If you're not doing that then you're putting yourself into the game literally (2-point, Spider man) and singing from a persepctive which I think is incredibly impressive

I think it's accurate to say that in most cases, the songs capture the *feeling* of the game in question- it's something that Dan Bull's pretty good at as well, overall, and it's absolutely fantastic to see more of this in video game rapping. I'm sure others have mentioned this too, but you do amazing character work. I think the one thing that separates you from other nerdcore artists is that you tackle your songs from the perspective of a character or the theme of the game. I really loved how you brought The Chairman of the Board to life, especially with the diss rap (Sorry Dan, but that was brutal). Then you absolutely blew my mind with Shelter From The Storm- hearing the story from the perspective of the survivors made it feel way more than just a song about a game. You keep getting better and better with each new song, and you bring a lot more to the table than you are given credit for. Congratulations on the 100k! Here's to the next milestone!

It's goes without saying how outstanding your work is, but recently I've just felt your music seems to encapsulate your brand or path at the time. It's very symbolic and hyperbolic, but imagining these songs in a highlight reel of your KZbin career, and fitting the time with each song makes me even more invested. "Okie dokie" was a demonstration of everything you can do, a funky tune about a game that was the perfect platform for it. "It's a joy" had a professional feel to it, more of a standardised chorus. Suited brilliantly with the first collaboration with Dan Bull, it felt like you had a rock in place, it highlighted the hot streak you were on, and started the 'how is he so damn consistent' feel. "Doctor! Doctor!" Was fun and goofy. You're making it to 100k with ease at this point, and you can dance your way to it with a funky tune. "Pictures of Spiderman" established the scope you have reached. A hard hitting powerful tune with a powerful character rapping. All the pictures, all the collaborations. The final statement and landmark before you glide over the finish line that is 100k. Then this beautiful song. Soft and meaningful. Feels like a thank you, and the horse theme feels like we're heading to the new race. 100k is just the beginning for you, and nothing can stop you. And if anyone deserved the huge rise it's you. I first came across this channel with "milk milk lemonade" and stayed because of that and "matter of facts". I was shocked to see you were basically just getting started with the rapping stuff. And I've gone from nitpicking the side of King dices head to a huge fan. I fist bump and celebrate when you get the recognition you deserve, "okie dokie" was an awesome moment and I feel like you're taking everyone on this journey with you. It's so quick but there's no traffic. Keep at it, you are unbelievable!

I...I...this was amazing. This rap is strangely akin to your Frostpunk rap, in which I refer to how both are based on the game but bring something new to it. They both capture that emotion the game promotes; this promoting the helplessness that must be felt at the final days of the west, the Frostpunk rap promoting that solace created as humanity must continue to survive through whatever ways possible, regardless of morals. I mean, all of your songs do something like this, showing an interesting side as well as still showing what the game is about. So not only are these songs great simply because of the lyrics and music, but also because of the added layers of wordplay and pathological appeal. Man, that was a really long tangent of overanalysis in order for me to express that I really enjoyed listening to this song.

As for being close to ‘shelter from the storm’ I 100% agree. They are both from the prospective of a character in the story but I think there is a similarity in the tone. Shelter from the storm was a grim determination. This is grim resignation. Both are without a doubt tied for my absolute favorite songs from the stupendium.

I'm not a linguist, but I've been around. "The west" typically refers to either the US as a whole or "The Western Frontier" before the 1900s. @@andreirichmondsalvaleon135 lol no judgment one of my other fav music channels here is aviators, his older stuff has a lot of that genre as well. I don't judge subjects or origins in music or vids but the content it is good or not. For isntance as a genre I rather dislike rap but I greatly enjoy stupendium's stuff. Jt is good too but he doesn't branch his 'flavor' too much still like quite a his vids quite a bit; like Detroit, and little nightmares for example

Beautiful. A song about the fall of the way of life for the people of the west and the story of a single man seeking glory who would rather die then see his way of life go away and a man who would rather be a criminal then lose what his ancestors built. But not only that but a story about the invetiability of the death of the wild west and how this man will die alongside it. Absolutely beautiful. Oh and not to mention the creation of machines that destroy the world and take away work from men and how machines are also destroying the American Dream.

Here's a fact: Doc Holliday, famous for his role in the shootout near the O.K. Corral, moved out west because he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, and he thought the climate might improve his health. Not long after the shooting, adventuring, and alternately hunting outlaws and fleeing the law, he died of tuberculosis. Kinda reminded me of Mr. Morgan, reading about that.

This song and vid "Beautifully" paints a vivid picture of those folks who lived and died when- Well.... When the West was TRULY "One".... ------------------------------------------------- Folks who lived in the West of the USA wanted nothing more than wide open spaces and to enjoy the sceneries of nature. And I might just be a Hispanic Puerto Rican person who never lived during those time's. But- I can sympathize and feel their pain.... Wanting purpose in life, and to not be swept away by the modernization that the Federal Government of the USA (inevitably) brought about- And Sure, They brought in massive comfort and easier ways to live life..... But they nearly killed the willpower and spirit of those folks by their "At any means necessary..." way of conducting themselves.... ------------------------------------ Either I'm wrong.... Or I'm too swept away by the Simplicity and Beauty of this vid. And it is a Beautiful vid to listen to indeed.....
