I use the creighton method for now and when my boyfriend and I get married we will start to use Marquette. We are Catholic and do not use hormonal birth control. We also are not currently having intercourse so this works well for me since it allows me to really get to know my body and what is happening. I actually didnt know about these methods until after an NFP class held in the church for RCIA. I now go to a catholic OBGYN and fertility specialist and they are amazing at teaching this stuff and giving you all the options!

I've just started doing fertility awareness for birth control & it's been so interesting! I'm monitoring my LH levels (among other things) - but the most interesting thing I've found is the correlation between my LH spike & getting migraines. I've always suspected that my migraines were related to hormonal changes, but it's so cool to actually see it happening.

So I appreciate you just laying out the facts about the topic so people can make an on an educated decision on their birth control choices.

Because they want the poor to stay poor through unplanned pregnancies. The government and big businesses thrives off of the working class, so by making sure they aren’t educated in ways to make them successful and prosperous, the government and big businesses therefore become successful and prosperous. However, those who are wealthy have time, money, resources, and other friends/family who are educated in this, so they are able to avoid it. It’s a messed up system, but that is just how it is here in the US. Similar to why showing kids how to do their taxes, balance a checkbook, understanding how to buy a house, etc aren’t taught in school. School in the US were formed to make better and obedient workers for big businesses, not to actually educate children on life.

Thank you! I have heard of most of these methods and was getting frustrated because my cycles were perfectly regular from my first one at 11 to my last known one at 20, but, in the last 9 years, I just don't get my periods back between pregnancies! The earliest ovulation was 10 weeks postpartum and the latest was 10 months... I only know because I got pregnant. That was fine until my health decided it was time for a break. Now, trying to know when to abstain at the proper time is impossible! The 2 day method gives me hope that we can work with my body to heal my body!🎉

So glad you covered this topic! I use the Sympto-Thermal method and have run into the issue that many of my doctors see any NFP method as ineffective. Thanks for sharing the facts! And as a side note, another method that tracks cervical mucus is Creighton. Several of my friends use it. The instructors actually teach ways to distinguish semen from CM to up the effectiveness and decrease the number of days you avoid sex.

Great info. I ended up with Twin girls-now 3yrs old- using this calendar method…which worked for 3years prior with my live in girlfriend. But I did not adjust when her period became irregular due to other medications. (Plus I was doing ALL of the tracking. It wasn’t a team effort). We have successfully navigated through and painfully worked out the children’s court battles that resulted in full custody to the father in CA. Family planning sounds like a dream. NFP and FAM (FABM) aren’t interchangeable. NFP includes methods that use no contraceptives/barriers/withdrawal. Abstinence only during the fertile window. FAM or FABM is typically methods where signs are charted, but barriers or withdrawal are used throughout the month or just during the fertile window.
@AmeenaF193 жыл бұрын
In NFP you can also use barriers. It is just a method of learning when you are fertile. How you choose to use this knowledge is up to you. Either you want to get pregnant and you have intercourse on your fertile days frequently, or you do not want to get pregnant and you use either a barrier or you do not have intercourse on your fertile days.
@BlodesForLife3 жыл бұрын
@@AmeenaF19 no, that would be Fertility Awareness Based Methods like TCOYF (FAM or FABM). Natural Family Planning methods (Creighton, Marquette, Billings, CCL, Boston Cross Check, etc) are methods used with no barriers. If barriers are used with those methods then it compromises the efficacy of the methods. It’s an important distinction for those who use NFP to keep a high efficacy rate for those methods.
@abkayla1T2 жыл бұрын
Ive used nfp for a while. Before hormonal bc, i would use the lady comp. Then i went to hormonal bc. But after 4 years i thought id go back to nfp. So ive done around 6 cycles nfp. I can almost pinpoint ovulation. But i have been so lucky to be able to pinpoint my period. That is a life saver. I should also mention, i use nfp for knowing when i have my period, not for birth control. I feel empowered.

Hi there! You mentioned a few times that we should track a few cycles to see what my patterns are. I take the oral birth control pill and want to get off of it. Does the pill regulate my periods? If so, then would you suggest I stop taking the pill in order to track my periods and get a reliable and accurate idea of my patterns? How many months off of the pill should I be before my body will be able to show me an accurate pattern as far as how many days in my cycle, if that makes sense?

I continued to do it after birth and was fine until I tested positive a week after my period and went for a scan, turned out to be 6 weeks.... how tf does that even work (I now have two happy healthy girls. 2y and 4m) Continued to do this method to try not get pregnant.........had a positive test a week after a period....again.... was ectopic at 4 weeks and I lost my fallopian tube. Clearly ovulation is so unpredictable in my cycle after having kids. I noted when I ovulated, checked everything, the whole shabang, CM, cervical position, temp and all. apparently it was never ovulation according to my scans and HCG tests. 😂😅 I'll be ditching this method from now on 😅
