It's like they fired all the writers in season 1 and then hired some people who actually love the source material. No it doesn't follow the plotlines exactly, but it's far better writing and matches the spirit of the books much more closely.

I haven't read the books but my best guess is she doesn't want to overshadow/upstage her friend. You could see on Egwene face she didn't like it when she said it was their power but Nynaeve was 10X stronger.

Book reader here... It has nothing to do with that. As Alanna says, Nynaeve has a block. She quite literally can't channel unless she is furious. Her friends have to spend quite a bit of time making her angry whenever her channelling services are required. The moment she finally learns to channel without having to get angry first is quite a momentous scene.

Actually, in the books Nynaeve isn't that much stronger than Egwene. Yes, she is stronger, but not 10x. Egwene is like the third or second Strongest Aes Sedai (She is stronger than Cadsuane and a little weaker than Elayne). In Robert's Jordan magical system(Where 1 is the strongest that someone can be in the power, like the Dragon Reborn and 60 is the weakest, where they can't even weaving right) Egwene is at 9 in the one power, while Nynaeve is 5. Moiraine (wich was one of the strongest Aes Sedai before Nynaeve, Egwene and Elayne) is 13 and Alanna is even weaker. The Aes Sedai who was Strong before Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne arrival, where like 14-20 in the scale. Every Aes Sedai in the book recognizes Egwene's powers, and with time, they even starts to obey her.

I'm sorry but no, it can't be. They have already broken the magic system, proven they only know how to write drama with fake out death scenes and completely disregarded the source material. I like this scene better then anything I saw in the first season. But there is no recovering from that false start.

@@HB-zt1ed I mean who knows it might be so awesome people like you rant and rave about it enough to get me to watch it. But I'm really not holding my breath. I defended this show right up until the last two episodes of the first season. Then I was just done. I'm a feminist , I love that POC and LGBTQ+ folks are getting more representation. That's not why I disliked this show. The writing in places was atrocious, the costumes and special effects ranged from awesome to wtf. But in the end it was the obvious disrespect for the source material that made me give up on it. Yes things have to be cut the a TV adaptation and smell things added to smooth over the parts cut. But that's doesn't mean you disregard the source material. Or flat out change the story just because you think you can do better. That's the difference between an adaptation and fan fiction. I'm just really disappointed these particular writers/show runners have done such a poor job.

Ive read all the books three times. The casting in the series has over all been brilliant but Zoe Robins absolutely nails Nyneave. She is the stand out. I hope Matts character follows the books as its most entertaining.

Matt's character in season one was a bit of a disappointment, though I can see what they tried to do. He doesn't really get any character building until the third book as it stands. Hopefully he comes good in season 2. Zoe Robins as Nynaeve is a masterstroke though. She absolutely nails it!

Book 1 was just meant to be a tribute to LOTR - it grew from there. People are expecting things in the show from book 14 and forgetting how little of the world/magic we knew in the earlier books.

This scene is very good, Alanna Priyanka is a star, great actress she is powerful she knows it, she does. not use her power against others, she is fair, she was outsmarted though painful to watch, but Nyvanna is portrait perfectly, learning from Alanna and playing the Ads Sadais trick, but being perfectly honest like a great woman of the people, not a puppet master which all Ages Saidais do without even thinking about it. Egwenne is human to have a star shine so bright and be your friend and only a little older then you is hard to stomach, especially told so frank in everyone's presence dis passing, any notions of equality in the one power. If this does not make all the cannon purists happy they are just irritable or just having fun criticizing. 🥰🥰🥰😄

I'm pretty sure the producers replaced Myrelle's character with Alanna. As readers, it doesn't fit, but for the show it's a smart way to simplify the plot. I'm super cool with it.

In the books she asked if it was necessary for novice training to be so hard, but shut up when told her own would be worse. And Nynaeve never ever stops trying. That's the POINT. She CANNOT surrender, CANNOT give up and that's why she has trouble channeling, because she has to surrender to the One Power in order to use it. This whole show is just garbage writing, from top to bottom, and it is a very very bad adaptation of the books. Those two things don't necessarily go together. You can have bad writing and a good adaptation, or good writing and a bad adaptation, but this one never was good either way.

If you don’t like the show, I don’t understand why you would want to look for content about it and make negative comments. Why not just avoid the show for a quiet life, and realise somethings are just not for you and let people who do it enjoy it both new fans and book readers (which I am one). As a book reader, I like that I have the book story forever which no one can change but that I get to be surprised with new content like a new turning of the wheel.
