The sceens that suldam and damane was incredible. That was what I imagine while I was reading the book also Madeleine Madden played soo well.

Yeah she is an insane actress. They've nailed her character so far

This episode hit hard. I don't think I've heard you swear that much before! It was a LOT to take in and deal with.

Haha I need to break some better vocabulary out next time. This was the most plot/event per second of any episode so far imo

I wonder if Rand asked to see Egwene because he knew Lanfear would get jealous, then he could manipulate her to compete for his affection, but he didn't expect Egwene to be collared which made him lose his marbles and end up promising to do anything so long as Lanfear told him where Egwene was

Because if he expected her to be safe in the WT, why wouldn't he suppress his longing to see her when his wannabe lover is offering him that offer. He could have asked to see Tam or his real parents, but he chose Egwene, the most inappropriate person to ask his wannabe lover to show him. And of course Lanfear knew what he was thinking, but she still did it without showing her jealousy to his face, because she wanted to convince him he could trust her and she can change for him.

i'd like that because it would start setting up Rand as a "player" in the world, and not just a silly farm boy. His character is going to need to do a TON of growth when it comes to being a schemer in the next season or two.@@athomenotavailable

Egwene’s scenes for me were like an exact replica of what I pictured in my head- down to the kennels. Hopefully they can keep this momentum going.

In the book she was not in Kennels she was actually in the nice room ... the show exaggerated this and made it more disturbing ... In the book Egwene is not dragged by leash, nor does she burn the tree ... there was no need to drag her by leash, Suldam could order her to walk via leash and she would not be able to refuse ... so no, it was not a replica of the book at all ... but the feel was the same as in the book... and action, on the other hand, was probably even better executed than in book and much more disturbing... this episode is what adaptations are meant to be like, using the source material, even though changing it keeping the feel and improving on it ...

@@Berndr instead of contextualising what I wrote you might read it instead. I said that “for me” it was a replica of what “I” pictured. At no stage did I state that this is exactly the way in happened in the book.

The reason Egwene's scenes were so good (horrific) is that they are the most book-true in the series so far. Seemed more brutal because it was condensed into about twenty minutes instead of spread over chapters and reminiscences over books. Other scenes are logistic or filler. The reason this is the best episode so far is that some characters are where they should be and the rest are collecting so that they can get there for Ep7&8. I'm enjoying the TV series. S2 is a major improvement on S1 and E6 is clearly the best of the lot. 3D Liandrin is playing with my head. I just hope the writers can pull the major plotlines back to what Jordan and Sanderson wrote. Condensing the slog to a couple of episodes frees up about a fifth of runtime. Give the rest justice.

couldn't have said it better myself! they are so close to bringing it back but I'm nervous about them having only two episodes left (which would be on amazon for making it 8 eps)

I enjoyed your review as a book reader, agreed with most of your insights. I wanted to add that the cool thing for me about the scene with the collaring of the Yellow sister was that the way she used the Source as a weapon. With Greens they use fireballs, blasts of air, they disrupt the earth. But the way the Yellow sister used it was by targeting body parts. I think this was intentional on the part of the director. I think that they showed Egwene going into the flesh of the tree and burning it from inside as a direct correlation to how the Yellow sister went into the bodies of those she was fighting and destroyed them from the inside. She crushed their bodies like aluminum cans. The difference is the sort of weaves she knows as a healer would translate to how she used weaves as weapons, something that would come more naturally to a healer, instead of blasts of hair or fire. I was impressed by that. In fact, it is one of the most impressive scenes around channeling.

did her weaves kind of remind you of our nerves in the spine too? as she's making her into a slinky it almost looks like the weaves are the individual nerves in the suldams spine.

Madeleine Madden's scenes, while competently done, just don't have any emotional impact for me. Zoe (Nynaeve) and Kate (Liandrin) on the other hand have hit me hard (or amazed) on multiple occasions through both seasons. Any and all Nynaeve and Lan interactions in S1 are gold for me. (so S1E4 is still the best for me personally) Kate has given some wonderfully emotional performances this season (on top of delicious compelling ones last). Her son reveal in E2 really hit me in the feels.

my only issue was pacing, it seems to me in each episode they choose the main theme in this one was Domane and they let that theme breathe whilst all rest get supersonic speed treatment with bad pacing, for Example Mat and Rand needed much more time after so much separation , we did not get Perin at all in this episode and so on ... I understand this is due to having only 8 episodes per season ... but for the show that has so many characters 8 episodes per season is simply not enough too much content gets cut off ...

I agree. Only having 8 episodes causing pace issues or dropping of important things will absolutely be a focus of mine when I consider the season as a whole. It's really unfortunate that this is ultimately an Amazon cash grab

I thought Lan probably assessed that Alanna and her warders are definitely not DFs, and he was fed up with Moiraine being so secretive, so he just went fvck it, I'm done with keeping secrets

You must not forget that Lanfear in the show is merged with Semirhage who is known for her sadistic nature that's why the dominatrix look works in the show and the little sadistic things she does ...

I agree with you this was the best episode of a woeful adaptation of the WoT books. Your right about the Lan scenes. I think the show has done him a mighty disservice. There is no question about Lan's loyalty among the warders. He's basically the best of them. Fought against the shadow since birth. The whole reveal of the Dragon is handled so poorly it's just another notch of the bungling they have done with this so called adaptation. The only redeeming thing about this episode was the scenes with Egwene. They felt like it was from the WoT universe. Everything else is like tap water compared to the spring water of the books.

If they continued for another season with episodes of this quality, do you think it could change your opinion? And yes I agree, Lan of all people should hold enough weight to at least not need to tell them its specifically the Dragon. As for the other part of the comment I also agree their approach in s01 with the "which kid is the dragon" idea was an absolute bungle, and the cold open of episode 1 will always remain silly to me.
@Deuwl

Agreed. There's already cool mystery boxes like who are darkfriends? Ba'alzamon etc. I hope it gets better. If they can do Egwene scene right perhaps they can do other things. I won't hold my breath lol. Lan saying they are after the dragon reborn is so so stupid. That's a 20 year quest. Have you noticed that apart from arguably Ishamael, I can't find a strong silent type male character in the cast. Lan they basicallly changed but have you noticed this? I'm looking at the male cast and I'm struggling to find a competent character that might be likable. Even Perrin who kinda bonds with the wolf and frees the girl which is a good action, was aggressive towards Elyas when I feel like the book Perrin would corner Elyas and ask him what was happening to him not say something like 'Whatever your doing to me STOP!' LOL@@Kevinbaconator_ RJ's world has strong male and female chars but the show seems to only have competent female chars
