Hey KevinBaconator_ this looks sick. I am worried about whether or not ill have to spread the legs farther apart. Im planning on using 3 34 inch flat ultra wides. Do you think i would need to do that or any other kind of adjustment?
@Kevinbaconator_
@Kevinbaconator_ 2 ай бұрын
it would probably need to be a little wider. I can't say how much without the brackets, monitor, arms and such. My suggestion would be to make it like 1' wider, set it up at the angle you'd like & install monitors, and see how much extra gap you have in the frame. Measure that gap and remove it from width. it really shouldn't take that much extra time. You can always cut the wood shorter, but you can't make it longer.
@Notcomplete69

Thanks for advice, i went ahead and built it, adding about 8 inches to the width. It came out great, i only have the one monitor at the moment but i have enough space to fit in the wood for the other two monitors. I am curious though, i noticed on your channel that you built a wooden cockpit. I built mine the same day i built this. Do you use a DD drive wheel on your set up? And if so os there any flex on the wooden cockpit?@@Kevinbaconator_

They're in there loose. The weight of the monitor wedges them in though, so it doesn't move. Then when you want to adjust, you lift up on the monitor to take the weight off and the arms move easily, for adjustment of angles and length

Hey Kev, thanks for the video and the design. Maybe I missed it, but how did you fix the arms into the cross beams and decide on and confirm the angle of them? I've seen most people recommend using 60deg for the angle. Just interested how you placed them identically, so they were even on each side.
@Kevinbaconator_
@Kevinbaconator_ 6 ай бұрын
They aren't fixed. The arms are held in by friction. The gap They slide in is maybe an 1/8" larger than the arms are, so without any weight, you can slide them in no problem. Once you add the monitor weight, the arms want to tip forward a little, so they wedge themselves in the opening and don't move. So as Long as you lift up on the monitors (this takes the weight off the arms), you can adjust the angle and position of them at any time.

Kinda confused as to what this is. Because the first few minutes were a reaction as if that's a snippet of what we were going to see. But as I scrub through it's like you're explaining what the scene is, instead of reacting to it. Guess it's more of a review?
@ener11454
@ener11454 9 ай бұрын
Ishamael isn't likely using his full power at the start of the fight. When he starts trying harder huge holes are ripped in Egwene's shield and she is barely holding him off. Then Perrin joins in with the shield Gaidal Cain gave him and they seem to be holding him off pretty easily. The shield is still sitting on the top of the tower after the heroes of the horn fade out so I think maybe this shield will end up being something more than just a shield. I think they have revealed enough darkfriends that maybe show watchers are getting a bit of darkfriend overload. I think that is why one of the changes you didn't like happened. They also maybe don't want show watchers to know the punch line of that story line yet because it changes the meaning of what a darkfriend is and is not. Also I don't think Moiraine made that dragon. She sends out 4 normal looking weaves and then the huge ball of fire comes out and absorbs them. I think there will be more to that scene. I also think her speech and attacking the boats will be a nod to the Dragon breaking all oaths, basically the oaths don't fully apply when he is part of things. I think Rafe is the weakest writer and I do agree it showed some in this episode.
@ener11454
@ener11454 9 ай бұрын
Ishamael isn't whittling, he is shaving bits off of some sort of bark or stalk into the tea. Mat does mention him whittling so there is a reason people assume that is what he is doing. I think the whole Moiraine lost her powers and Lan figures out what is going on (which he is doing in earlier episodes too) was just a way to keep these actors busy. They don't do much in this part of the book but they were necessary in season 1 and key going forward. They can't just not give them screen time as actors leave shows when you do that to them. So they needed something for them to do and came up with this mediocre story arc for them.

Sigh. Did any of these writers even read the books? Clearly not based on their choices. They have deviated so far from the core plots of the characters as to make them barely recognizable in some cases. Complete inconsistencies with their own magic rules they set up that are not in the books. They broke the canon and lore day one and don't care how far they go from it. Everytime its Rand's moment, its given to Egwene. How stupid was the plot they never pay off of Nyneave and Elyane, getting ready to break in to save Egwene, thats from the books, ok cool, they they drop it and make Nynaeve useless when she is the super healer. She can't channel? Why not? In the show they establish fear or anger will get her going and in the middle of the battle, danger all around, her friend is in agony, can't heal her, then Rand is dying, nope can't heal him either. The contradictions in this series make me think the writers really have no idea what they are doing. This finale is just as bad as season one for different reasons.

Your 100 percent spot on and I'll add to your statement. First now that Ishamael has broken all the seals not only are the rest of the forsaken free, he has released the Darkone from his prison so at this point is it game over for the Light? Second how can Moiraine use the one power as a weapon against the Sul'dam on the boats, they are not shadow span and they are not directly putting her or Lan in danger, the three oaths will not allow it. And Matt can tie a knot like you wouldn't believe, not going to try to explain that BS, common sense is not these writers forte.

The collar scene was brilliant in a couple of ways. First because it really shows Egwene already thinking like an aes sedai. The collar works by reading intent. She can put it on Renna because she doesn't intend it to do harm. Second note how she picks Renna up. She should not be able to do that. Except she isn't picking Renna up to harm her, she is hanging a garment. It's about frame of mind. Brilliant.
@Saphthings

@@Saphthings I am uncertain about that part so don't put it forward. It's unclear.
@Saphthings
@Saphthings 9 ай бұрын
@@alananimus9145 Yep, it's all unclear. For example, putting the necklace on her, I saw it as all the rules were "a damane cannot hurt her sul'dam". At that point she's realized and fully felt that Renna is not a Sul'dam, she is a damane, so instead of "a dog cannot bite its master", it became "a dog can bite a dog" in her mind. She's free to put the collar on her because she's just putting a collar on a dog just like her. But Renna cannot accept it, she is wearing an a'dam and it works, so Egwene IS her Sul'dam to her. Because Egwene is free of the lie she can act, but because Renna can't accept the truth she can't. Loved the episode.
@andrewdemarco3512
@andrewdemarco3512 8 ай бұрын
I read somewhere that she had a theory that they could channel, and her putting the collar on Renna was her way of testing that theory, so she didn't ahve the intent fo harm in that moment, jsut to test a theory. That makes sense to me

Channeling distances are a personal limitation that you impose on yourself. Once you lock it into your head thats all you can do. I have to assume Moiraine doing all thaf buildup was partly to gain power but also to work herself into shooting that far.

Mat is never explicitly referred to as a hero of the horn in the books but the heroes do recognize him from his past lives so it's not much of a stretch to call him a hero of the horn. It works for me. All in all I loved this episode! Ishi getting stabbed didn't feel like giving up it felt like Rand powering through his defences with the help of his friends. I like the way they worked together to beat him. Egwene didn't really fight him just held him off long enough for Rand to get back his equalibrium.

I'm in about the same boat as you are. I really enjoyed the Finale and this season in general. This season is at least 2 notches above season 1. Ok first off, I had the first 2 books tossed to me by a friend and then I had to wait about a month before book 3 was released so yeah since 1991 and I have reread the series at least 10 times as well as audio books listens. Anywho, with that out of the way I will say I have no issue with changes that stay in the spirit of the character, keep their reasons and destination on track. Ok some things I also found weird but with possible explainations... *Moiraine's power levels...I have a funny feeling she still has that an'greal from season 1 *Moiraine's ability to channel at long distance...in the books it was explained that a channelers inability to channel to their line of sight was a self imposed mental restriction no different really than some channelers being unable to channel without using their hands. *Egwene being able to channel while still collared...possibly the collars cancel each other and the more dominant channeler has the control? All I could think of. Basically I liked the scene and result so much, I am willing to roll with it lol *Perrin using the shield to help Egwene...it's not a regular shield, it's Uno and it was still on the tower top in plain view after the heroes left. Let's see if it's a thing next season. *Moggy able to stand up to Lanfear...this one is obvious, she set a trap/web for her. I think most book readers understood this but if you pay close attention to the lighting during that scene you will see that Moggy had the whole room wired so to speak and she didn't dare turn her back as she left. *Rand killing Lord Turok with those weaves...Rand constantly used weaves through out the books that he had idea how he did it, they just came to him and felt right so I'm perfectly fine with that particular scene. If anything, as you mentioned, how he beat Turok in the books was out of place and it would've been even worse if they tried to do it in the show. Now for things that I can't roll with... *I agree there shouldn't have been any way short of burning herself out, that Egwene should've been able to hold off Ishy for any where close to as long as she did. The way and length it played out that's literally Nyneave level and we were told straight out early in the season during the water cleansing thing in the kitchen that Nyn is 10x Egwene's strength. *Elayne being able to heal Rand...I know they wanted to make his and her first meeting mean something but that was not something she should've been even close to being able to do. Ok now some comments...I hear you on the Dragon weave thing, it felt a little cheesy...until I thought about the book version and realised very quickly if they tried to do it the same, it would've been many times more cheesy on screen so I will throw a pass on that one lol As far as Mat's memories go, I called it that they would use the sounding of the Horn to trigger, at the very least, his initial memories and I made that call immediately after the Tea scene that I never thought for one second was anything other than another Ishy trick. Sometimes one has to remind people that Mat had 2 instances where he gained memories not his own, not just one and that Mat was 100% fluent in the Old Tongue without even realizing it before he ever stepped through either Doorway 😉 Anywho, sorry for the book but your reaction and thoughts good and bad have been the closest to my own so far so I had to throw a lot out there. Good stuff man!

read the whole thing and it's nice to have people leaving level headed responses on how they feel about things. I've definitely come around to the dragon in the sky, and Moiraine still having the sa'angreal on her would make tons of sense so I hope that's true. Rand's wound I'm guessing will not be "healed" properly but was still quite the feet for elayne to try and heal it. Hope we get reactions from other sisters trying to heal it....Unfortunately rand's wound isn't any more special than Loial's in s01, which was healed. Great feedback, Thank you!

@@Kevinbaconator_ Well the way I look at it is the show is not just for us readers, it's for new non-readers too. Also, it needs to be or try to be good tv. The Egwene getting out of the a'dam scene is a perfect example of possible wonky mechanics but the result and the emotional release made for some great TV. All I know so far is every non-reader reaction I have watched so far has been them freaking out for most of the episode so that's a good sign. As far as reasonable feedback...yeah, it's an issue. Far too many readers that can't handle even the slightest changes and go apesh!t. The same thing happened to Sanderson writing the last 3 books.
