I decided to re watch this episode while I tried Strathisla 12 for the first time... I love that this video had 5 different whisky features and only 2 tasting notes on the title whisky. Although this video did make me run to the cabinet to try my hand at blending with you guys!

Now that you mention blending, i have a bottle of Tamnavulin that is truly undrincable . . . .BUT, I added a bit of BenRiach Peated Casc Strength (batch 1) on a ratio of 1 to 5 and I can say that the result is magnificent!

Inspired by your blending I set about the task of experimentation. I can now tell you by experience that Ardbeg 10 overwhelms Monkey shoulder in the smallest of quantities, and blending them really brings out the burning tire flavors from the smoke. Please, Whisk(e)y brethren, do yourself a favor and experiment with your collection, no matter if its 2 bottles or 100.

Strathisla is harder to get because so much of it is made specifically to add the the Chivas blend. I saw it once in the LCBO, and never again. Lol.

When I went on a tour to the destillery (5 years ago) they said the bottled like 10% as a single malt.

I know I still owe you that Springbank 18 review, but I have to give a HUGE shout out to Glen Scotia/Loch Lomond. First of all, I've been drinking GS for 25-30 years and love the stuff. But about 6 months ago I bought that 15 you just tasted/blended (LOL). It was corked. I returned it to the store and got my money back. Then I contacted the awesome people at Loch Lomond and their US distributor. Guess what, although they knew I got my money back, they made sure a free bottle was shipped to my house. That type of customer service is rare today, and should be noted. Thanks guys, by the way, that was quite the episode.

Yes! We just started getting the GS variations at our local Austin stores. LOL only showed up a few months ago. I've purchased everything they brought it, but haven't had time to truly go through and try/compare. It's going to be great!

Have the chivas 12 and just bought the strathisla 12. Was not overly impressed with the strathisla. Just finished an bottle of old pulteney 12 which was far better.

I purchased a much better independent release of Strathisla 19 year old from Cadenhead's. The only problem is the bottle cost $130! The independents are great ways to try distilleries that are more obscure but a lot of their prices are often higher than official releases.

You basterds are so lucky to have strathisla, my favo is Chivas 12 and really want to try strathisla 12 but not available in the Netherlands. btw if you blend Longmorn, Aberlour and strathisla do we get Chivas 12?

I think you need a teleprompter. Just for Rex's level...

I love the video but I can't stand Chivas Regal 12. It reminds me of Copenhagen Chew and mint toothpaste.

3:18 - I disagree. There is a time and a place for watching awful horror films on Netflix. Especially the low-budget Australian shark films. As if the nature in Australia isn't a horror film of it's own.

Too many whiskies presented together. Binge drinking is right behind the corner and that is not a good thing.
