Twon, I also saw 1979 pop up and I was confused. They are talking about the album titled The Whispers was released 1979. The song Rock Steady (which wasn't on that album) was released in 1987. I had just started high school! Lol

Well, I'm glad you finally got to hear it.. this song came out in the 80s..I forgot the year, but Babyface wrote this for them.. they went up to him and asked to write them a song, and this is one of a few that he wrote for them.. They are a legendary group and deserve their flowers

This song was a lot of fun & went along with the dance, The Rock, which they were doing in this video. The song And the Beat Goes in was probably their biggest hit in’79, but had similar groove. You could do that dance to it also. This one came out later.
