"The Whistling Geordie" GREAT tour behind 3 Great Locos.

It was really great to go on this Pathfinder Tour to Newcastle as most of the tours I have booked on this year have been cancelled.
Locos for the day to and from Newcastle were 37676 37668 (40145 D345) & 57010.
Tour started at Burton on Trent.

Bryan I hope I'm wrong but i can't ever see them class 86 being used again on our railway. It was 1984 the last time I had haulage behind a class 40 on the mainline. Cheers Mike.

An excellent tour with proper rolling stock and sensible stewarding. The old girl was clocked doing 95 on the ECML "racetrack" coming back...

That's right it was going well along the ECML, then it lost time crossing the country and the signalman must have gone to the toilet as we were only going 40 mph between Crewe and Stafford with nothing in front of us. Which put us 30 mins late into BNS. Cheers for watching my video Jim.

Great video of the tour Mike. Glad you enjoyed it. Great opening shot through the tunnel and also going over the Tyne. I kept away from the masses at Crewe, I was on platform 5.

Mike I really loved this video you done. It was a proper adventure going to a part of the world I love in the North East. It had a real feel from the past. Even seeing the younger generation out and about and stepping in to the cab for a look added to the whole excitement of the day you must have had. First class video as always from you. Ben we had a excellent day with great sounds from the locos lots to eat and drink, plus catching up with lots of chat between the four of us. It was a long day leaving home at 05.30 to film another rail tour, but didn't get back home till 00.10 but it was worth it as the weather was good. ATB and thanks for your kind comment, Mike.

What an excellent railtour Mike, when i found out you were on this trip i just new the video would be a fantastic watch. The class 40 was something else wasn't she ? i'll say one thing, the Manchester skyline is changing beyond recognition. Nice to see the kids getting a chance to cab the loco at Newcastle, and you were quick enough to avoid being bowled by the pendo at New Street. Great footage Mike, thanks for sharing. ATB Colin.

No there was a change of plan during the week that it would stop on to Burton on Trent, where I believe it still is.
