In one of the lyric books (Icky Thump, I believe) Jack speaks of a symbol in music that means, in his words, 'play until the cows come home.' In my opinion, this song has one at the end. And the cows ain't never comin' home.

that "AHHHH" noise is definitely Jack's voice run through some kind of effects, and then it's a bit clearer near the end of the song, but all of you that seem to think it's a guitar making that noise are trippin'.

He is using a Big Muff on the overdrive channel. Plus it sounds like he is using a ton of reverb (I can here some type of rattling like a spring reverb unit) It also sounds like someone just saying UUUUUV, if you listen closely, you can here someone sing (sing?) harmony.

@Yekex you get feedback, if the signal from the microphone/guitar/etc. resonates at the same pitch as the speakers, because the signals pick up each others vibrations, and amplify each other and oscillate, which is what feedback is, oscillation. you get achieve this by using the bridge pickup(more harmonics) and holding the pickups close to the speaker. in jack's case, the guitar he uses here is uncontrollable, it gives feedback almost instantaneously, cuz it's basicly a plastic toy......

I guess its feedback.. The pickups at those old guitars gets feedback right away if you're in the right angle, or with the volume high enough.. At the beginning i guess he's using his digitech whammy to change the octave at the feedback/guitar (Not sure if he's strumming the guitar)

this is a really old comment but he could also be using a hollowbody guitar. when I distort my acoustic and bend down at my amp and then get up I get a simular sound to the start

He is singing/ screaming rather through a leslie speaker which is a speaker that rotaes in the cabinet at whatever speed you choose some digital FX simulate it but it sounds like the real thing to me. usually they use them with Hammond organs... Huh Huh, he said organs. lol

How does he make the "UUUUUUUUUUUUV" sound? Which sounds like the guitar is crying?
@HenryLNelson
@HenryLNelson 3 жыл бұрын
I know this is probably a bit late but it's called guitar feedback is when the amp sound gets picked up by the guitar and it makes a loop and you break the loop by playing a note :)

She really is a talented drummer, I mean, who wouldn't be after playing for more than 10 years of it. But Jack forces her to only play simple drum beats. I don't know if complicated drum beats would work with these songs, but I do know Jack wanted her like that so she could represent how a child experiments with a drum.
