Incredible rumors circulate among Soviet soldiers about a mysterious German tank that suddenly appears and disappears on the battlefield, destroying everything in its path. This is the White Tiger, the devil no one can handle. After one of such battles, a badly burnt tank driver is found in a disabled Soviet tank. Surviving such monstrous burns is impossible, but the tank driver is quickly on the mend. Doctors are perplexed and throw up their hands, assuring that it’s a miracle.
Still, this man does not remember who he is, where he comes from, but he knows one thing - the mystical German tank does exist. He believes that the war has given him back his life to rid the world of the killer tank, the White Tiger. What’s that? A fantasy? A mirage? Third Reich’s secret weapon? Or did he discover the ultimate secret of the war?
Directed by: Karen Shakhnazarov

I have been watching foreign war films from America and I am impressed, all Hollywood gives us these days is live action remakes, a bunch of superhero movies or Star Wars films and series, it's good to see great war movies these days no matter if they are coming from countries other than mine. Thank you comrades.

The ending was chilling...and spot on..."He's waiting...and he will crawl out. He must be destroyed". Then Hitler, "War is the original human state".

I wish they'd have kept the first ending, and deleted the "hitler" ending. Both endings allude to the same story, but the Hitler one seemed Gauche, nearly took more from Naidyonov's 'driving into the sunset ether' ending. That's my personal opinion though, if you thought the hitler ending added to the film I won't dis that opinion.

One of the best movies that i have watched. It surely depicted a deep sense of belonging in its simplicity which is very hard to find in Hollywood movies. A sense that you are actually part of war instead of being simply entertained by it. The sound effects were spectacular to say the least. Minute details such as the shell shocked soldier depicts the horrors and reality of war. Way to go guys. my rating 10/10 greetings from INDIA

I loved it too. It was asking viewer very poignant questions. Like- do you think you would be able to spot an evil again even if it won´t be dressed as an usual suspect? Who does profit from the wars? Wasn´t it really British/French plan from the beginning to allow Germany to go East in order to clash with Soviet union (hence their activity in phony war). Remember the Grande Armée? French were actually minority in Napoleon´s army, that invaded Russia. Grande Armee was actually pretty paneuropean.

There's so much hidden meaning in that dinner scene, I'm still trying to process the tip of the Iceberg of what it is. Your country is in ruin and your military is 12 hours away from having to surrender. Yet, we eat a fine meal. Freideburg (who will commit suicide 2 weeks later), asks Keitel if he's ever been to "Sclemmer's" Yet he had to ask him twice as if Keitel wasn't even in the room. (Keitel would later be hanged in a year and a half). Stumpff, found the irony and laughed at Keitels comment about the Strawberries and cream. (Stumpff would actually survive and die an old man).

It is important to perceive movie properly. This movie - a movie allegory. A survivor of the tank crew member with 90% body burns - is the personification of the Russian spirit, which was neither morally nor physically broken. And he revived. White Tiger - is the personification of evil. No wonder the main character of the movie at the end of the movie said that the white tiger (evil) must be destroyed. Otherwise it will come back again. And after 20 years or 50 years later. In my opinion it is this is the main message of this movie.

in west this is forbidden, but reality was hitler was supported by west, he was doing western bid when destroying millions of russians, so fascist was really whole West, ..they used hitler as today US empire uses ISIS to destroy Syria, IRan.. proxy wars.. to destroy opponent, if not possible then to at least weaken it strategically while being protected from real repercussion from the victim..Hitler got played, got played good, poor Russians had to die in the millions to save themselves from genocide.. and now..today?..shit, we are in SAME position.. again West is mobilizing against Russian ppl.. and this time IT WILL BE DIFFERENT.. RF said many times, if war erupts again no spot will be left unchecked in west by Russian armed forces..
@SpenserRoger
@SpenserRoger 4 жыл бұрын
@@keepwalking6041 oh dude relax, you sound ideologically possessed and the swallow-er of propaganda. Hitler was not supported by the west, nor was he doing the bidding of the west. Some independent people, and businesses did trade with German companies and provided goods. For example: Henry Ford personally supporting Hitler because of shared antisemitism, and IBM sold tabulation machines to the German government, etc. There were other companies that did business with the Third Reich, however this was limited because of Hitler's policy of "Autarky" and later on because of laws preventing many forms of trade with countries at war(even western allies). The west's interests were diametrically opposed to the rise of the right wing in Germany and Hitler because of not only reparation payments still owed for ww1 and loan payments still owed for loans given when german banks and economy collapsed, but also because Hitler demanded the return of terroritory and colonial possessions succeeded after the loss of ww1. Hitler stopped all payments, and it wasn't until 1995 that the final payments were made. Germany rising again with the third reich also directly threatened French, Anglo, U.S and other countries power... I mean the problem between Germany and France was such a historical issue that a country was actually created in between them just to separate them, lol. Never mind that Germany invaded that country, France, Greece, and many others but also attacked Britain and other western nations, declared war on the U.S. Never mind it was the USSR that made a secret pact with Germany to divide Poland amongst themselves, the invasion that sparked off the whole war in the first place. Like lmao "it was western and german interests that aligned..." when it was the USSR that actually made a deal with Hitler to basically exterminate an entire country. Nevermind it was the U.S and Allied nations thatinvested huge political capital in creating things like lend-lease to send billions in everything possible to the USSR...tanks,planes,oil,food,radios,clothing, etc. Nevermind that it was USSR influence agents, spy's, and soviet "captured" American and Japenese government officials who were the main reason Japan attacked Pearl Habor, instead of attacking the USSR at the same time Germany was attacking the USSR. This caused the U.S to not only enter the war on a second front and area bomb Germany during the day time, allowing the USSR to defeat Germany...but it also caused the U.S to expend unspeakable sums in blood and treasure defeating the USSR's main rival in the east: Japan. (Japan btw had only a few years before ww2 defeated the soviets in a major engagement that was kept mostly unreported in the USSR and even the west...and Japan would have defeated the USSR if they had gone North instead of South, especially with the German invasion. Nevermind that after the dissolution of the USSR, NATO tried numerous times to get the Russian Federation to join....and instead Russia refused and tried to blame NATO for Russia's aggression and numerous and ongoing violations of international law and order. The west was perfectly cool with the Soviets and Stalin. It was the USSR and Stalin who created the Cold war by declaring war on "worldwide capitalism", seizing all those border states and rolling tanks in to suppress their people and free speech, building the berlin wall, shutting off access and trade with west Berlin, creating a bureau of poisons and assasination, influence agents and spies, and creating a 20 000 person strong "black propaganda" service putting out false and negative stories against the west. One of the reasons AIDS got so bad is the USSR pushed a false story and paid off doctors and journalists all over the world to create the false story that the U.S created the AIDS virus and released in purpose. Who knows how many Africans died when their governments refused food and medical aid because of that story alone. Who knows how many African's died, and people from around the world too...from the USSR supporting insane dictators and coups, all of which who published their own communist manifesto books, adopted soviet socialist policies and caused their countries to collapse and remain impoverished for decades. The U.S created ISIS? Gimmie a break. Conspiracy nonsense. The Russian Federation needs a revolution and the removal of the gangsterist Putin. The people there suffer under his insane corruption. It's only through the lies and deceit and the claim that the west wants to destroy russia and is their enemies that Putin can hold onto absolute power and rationalize his hegemony and corruption. He rules out of fear and you've fallen for it hook, line, and sinker.

@@SpenserRoger you have such many statements wrong my dude. Only in a paralel universe would Japan try to invade the USSR, especially after the fucking slapdown that Japan suffered on Khalkhin Gol. That battle showed Japan not only that the ussr was not to be fucked with, at least with a country like they had, but also showed that it wasn't 1904 anymore. And yes, lend-lease helped the soviet union, but that wasn't what won the war, so don't go around saying that the US won the war because lend-lease. The world already knows that the Soviet Union won WW2, don't make a fool out of yourself. And by the way, the soviets made possible the normandy landing that you mfs take as so heroic, not the other way around.

This ranks among the list of underrated, excellent war movies. It certainly is one of my favorites to the extent that I purchased the DVD. The Russians, still under the influence of their past Soviet, atheistic history, have cut a fine line in 'White Tiger' when it comes to legend, myth, and the supernatural. You realize it is the Soviet Red Army major, who ties everything in this movie together. Without him there would be no special T-34/85 (enhanced) crew. Junior Lieutenant Naidnyov wouldn't be there. He would still be in the mental ward of any large, rear area Soviet hospital. The major ends up being some odd patron supporter of Naidnyov and the two make for an even stranger team. You end up feeling some sympathy for the major. It is his own, scary gut feeling intuition that somehow this likely insane junior lieutenant Ivan Naidnyov is speaking the truth, in his own shamanistic way; just as the ancient peoples around the world often believed that insane or psychologically disturbed people were somehow in 'communion' or preternatural communication with the spirits and the gods. Despite his own communist socialistic education that insists no such preternatural phenomena exists in this corporeal world, his intuition, more, sixth sense, keeps ringing alarm bells in his head. It nearly gets him into trouble with his superiors. Luckily, the war's end is finally coming into sight as the Germans retreat back onto their home territory. The major is ordered to take ten days leave to rest, relax, and regain some sense of psychological equilibrium as this whole, "White Tiger" affair has indeed been a stressful, troubling one that is far above the normal perceptions of men. The end of the war in Europe a month later sees the major having been promoted to lieutenant colonel, and visiting still ranked, junior lieutenant Naidynov in a German field with his tank and crew, undergoing routine maintenance and some repairs. Naidynov creepily reassures the stoic but inwardly troubled lieutenant colonel that the 'White Tiger' is still out there, awaiting the next war.

Deep movie. The ending was profound. One can indeed argue that humans keep returning to our natural state. We live in relatively peaceful times but we stockpile weapons that can destroy the world ten times over and we have protocols that will make it happen once a certain line is crossed. We are like a drunk who is trying to stop drinking but he won't throw away the whiskey. He says he keeps it for a warning to himself not to drink but he knows he eventually is going to drink it.

The point at the end of the movie, which is bit hard to understand (because history books are not quite correct and have some truths taken out and left hidden) was to point out the real reason as to why WWII was started in the first place: It was Germany being used to fight the Russians as the Capitalists and Monarchs army, of rest of the Europe as they were (and to this day still are) afraid expansion of Socialism / Communism and that their people would rebel against them like the the Russian people did against their Monarchs. Nothing has changed to this day, all the wars since WWII are all rich man's wars, all with some fake reason, but real reason is to overthrow leadership that does not want to play along with Capitalists rules, in particular America (post WWII America is being used in role of Germany in WWII) The west bankers pretty much funded the Germany to build up the strongest army for this exact reason. It was the west didn't do anything to stop the war (they actually wanted it, but didn't think Germany would fight them also), same thing happened with Japan. WWII was pretty much Capitalists defending their business interests... and now you think how many millions of people died because if it... as much as you think Hitler was bad, the people that funded his army are even worse, and these people (their descendants) still live and rule the western world with their central banks with fractional lending, rotten economical system... and they have pretty much all of western politicians in their hand, that much is starting to be very obvious to everyone.

Erghm, well, okay, that's one interpretation. Mine is simply that the message of the film is that one becomes what one hates... or at least focuses on for so long, which in this case means to be fairly darn crazy: war crazy. Just as Hitler saw/rationalized war as being an integral part of life, Ivan Noname lost his identity other than that of being hunter of the White Tiger, being reborn of fire with the singular purpose of seeking it out and fighting to the death, such that even the official end of the war didn't matter to him (ie. he was quite crazy too). The subtext is that Russia herself became somewhat crazed with the challenge of ultimately stopping Germany and fascism, to the point that so many millions of people died fighting. It's commonly spouted in English language history books that the USA's entry into the war brought it to an end. More likely it was just good timing when they saw that it was a good safe bet to finally jump in on the winning side and claim all the glory. Everyone outside the US knows it was actually British naval and air superiority from the west, and Russian over-supply of cannon fodder/troops from the east that won the war.
@-ED-
@-ED- 7 жыл бұрын
Julian Warmington Maybe your interpretation of the end of the movie is right, I don't know... some things you say do make sense. Never the less, what you say is my interpretation about what Hitler said, is actually something that actually happened, only education history books do not talk about this. They only talk Hitler did a miracle, they don't mention how (that western bankers borrowed him money and knew even if he couldn't pay them back it was good investment if he could defeat the Russians - communists / socialists). They don't talk that Ford was working with Nazi industry, building and supplying the German army with truck engines... maybe other things, I don't know, but that he worked with the Germany industry and profited from it, is fact. Other thing I also never knew or read in education history is that Ford even sued American government for destroying his factories which were in Germany, when American planes bombed them... and he won. Remarkable huh? Anyway, history is written by the winner... that is very clear, and to me has a much stronger and deeper meaning now. Good to hear your thoughts on this also. Cheers.

Julian Warmington yeah those spitfires could fly from England to Berlin. That's how they achieved that air superiority. And the incredibly inaccurate night bombing by the British as well. P-51. War wouldn't have been won without allies as a whole Hitler's biggest blunder was Russian front spread his self to thin.
@-ED-
@-ED- 7 жыл бұрын
Caleb Willis Not true at all that it was thanks to west that Germany was defeated. This is what they want you to believe. It was battle of Stalingrad in 1942 that lasted around a whole tear, that was a turning point in WWII and where Germans were defeated, and ever since have been pushed back till they were defeated completely. German armies were defeated in Russia, by the Russians, and not by the west. Russians started pushing the Germans back long before Britain and America even entered the war in Europe. Britain was still under bombardment by the German Luftwaffe... and Americans were nowhere but just fighting the Japanese in the Pacific. One thing I must also say as this was left out of WWII history books by the west. Germany was actually being provided with money (loans) by the US and British bankers (British Queen bankers also) and US industrialists (for example Ford) that have helped HItler build up the country after its being devastated in WWI. Germany did not even pay for war damages it was first asked to pay and then "forgiven" by the west powers. If you don't believe me just ask yourself how was it possible that Germany after WWI which was in complete economical chaos, and people were starving and whole country was experiencing absurd amounts of inflation making German currency lose all of its value.. and then out of nothing and in such a short time, presumably without anyone's help, because the strongest power in Europe? Well it couldn't happen, there are no miracles in real world and most certainly Germany sudden sky rocketing success and might of its military was no miracle. Pretty much all of western European nations, all of which were Capitalist and/or Monarchies were so afraid that they will lose their power and grip over their own people, if they were to rise up with same ideology as Russians did. This is what they feared the most, as it would mean an end to their Capitalist system and end to remaining European monarchies. This is the real reason why west actually supported HItler and build up of strongest army... so that they would fight and kill the communist Russia. They could care less about tens of millions of lives that will inevitably be lost... which is exactly what happened. Most casualties were on the Russian front... most German troops were in the Russian front. Lot of European countries didn't really even fight the German's and sort of stayed under so called "occupation", France is perfect example of this... people in France enjoyed their lives and only small pockets of French resistance were trying to sabotage the German's where they could, but the French Monarchs and Government did not. Dutch were the same, Belgium was the same... you should get the idea. Then there were also countries that were also fighting WITH the so called "bad" Germany. Spain, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland, Norway... (maybe I missed some, Yugoslavian Monarchs also flee and left the Yugoslavian people to fend for themselves, which is how normal people, peasants and people of all regions in Yugoslavia created Partisan communist movement with Tito as its leader). People don't know history well at all, and also people are so susceptible to media narrative (brainwashing) all this time... to create a picture how Germans were the bad people only, they were the enemy of the world, how West defeated Germany, and made later on Russians as enemy of the west, yet again, because the Capitalist west did not succeed in destroying people's uprising against their oppressors and exploiters (Monarchs and Capitalists). This is what we have to this day. Most people in the west still have no clue west actually created Hitler into strong enemy in the first place... and people are still under this fake idea that western government are truly democratic (well I need to be fair and say that there are actually democratic nations in Europe even though they have Capitalist economical system but this is because working people in those nations have kept strong worker's unions and communist and socialist parties did not disappear like they did in America).
