The Who A Quick One While He's Away Side By Side

A couple of bootlegs claim to offer 3 versions of this song The Who filmed for the 1968 film "The Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus" mentioned in the book "Anyway Anyhow Anywhere The Complete Chronicle of The Who" like the CD "The Who Remembers The High Numbers" and the "Railway To Circus The Mod Years 1964 -1968" 2 CDs and 1 DVD release audio only on the CDs but the DVD included in the latter set shows it to be the same song recording with different camera angles included in the Rock N Roll Circus film as well as 1979's "The Kids Are Alright" film. That would mean the 3 alleged versions on these 2 bootleg CDs aren't different audio versions but the same released in those 2 films. The DVD shows the first one to be the complete film clip from the 1968 "Rock N Roll Circus" film, the second is the partial film clip from the original 1979 "TKAA" film and the third is the complete version released in the 2003 Special Edition DVD version of "The Kids Are Alright" film. If indeed they recorded 3 different audio that the "AAA" book suggests, it seems the other two versions are still not available to the public, official release or bootleg.

That was very unfortunate for everyone and apparently what MJ thought. It was a great performance but so were the Stones and Jethro Tull. The whole idea was brilliant and it was a moment of phenomenal rock history frozen in time for far too long….

The Kids are Alright version to me is way better, becsuse it focuses on all of them more equally, while the other puts a lot of emphasis on Pete and Roger only. I love them both but John and Keith are very much important!

This is up there with my all time favorite live performances; so refined yet so primitive... they are on Fire! Too bad the camera quality isn't good enough to see how fast Keith's sticks are moving, but then again you probably couldn't see them anyway!

I just finished doing this but with the Rushmore scene. Love your version. Would have been cool if 4 separate cameras followed each.

Awesome! Do you know where the audio is sourced from? I can’t help but notice that the vocals are way up in the mix, and Keith’s cymbal falling over when he tosses the floor drum is mixed out.
