Here's Gary joining The Who live on stage at Hyde Park in 1996 at The Prince's Trust Concert performing 'I've Had Enough'.Gary was in the role of the Godfather...and who inadvertently struck Daltrey in the eye with a microphone stand during rehearsals, forcing the frontman to wear an eyepatch (fittingly adorned with a mod-inspired target logo) during the show.

I was there at that Gig. . I hate Glitter and he wasn't needed. The reason that Roger was wearing that Eye Patch was because Glitter was swinging a Microphone around in Rehearsal and smacked him in the Eye with it. I would have given him a smack back!

Betcha most big time musicians had at least heard stories about him. And Townsend got into trouble of his own. A famous groupie, the one that Jimmy Page was dating when she was 13 years old, claims she lost her virginity to David Bowie, so you can imagine how old she was when that happened. Then of course there is Jimmy Saville, who never got in trouble during his lifetime. They all have sordid secrets, so I don’t know why all the attention was put on Glitter. I think he really pissed off someone in power, and going after his sexual deviancy was a sure way of getting back at him.

Interesting. Was this Glitter's last performance in front of a huge audience? His star had risen again. It fell quickly once punk started. In either 78 or 79 I saw him free in front of quite a small audience beside the funfair in Roundhay Park, Leeds as part of some Leeds gala event.

He was a big star in the 72 to 75 period but sales declined but in the early 80s he started touring again and his single another rock and roll Christmas hit number 7 in the charts in the 90s he became a glam rock legend but it all went wrong in 1999

No, it wasn't. His final stadium tour, "A night out with the boys, could this be the last time? " was in November-December 1997. By that point he was already on investigation for possesion of CP, but he went ahead with the tour anyway and managed to gather quite some big audiences, despite the fact that he was already on investigation at that point. (but again keep in mind that at that point in time he had not been convicted yet so a big part of the public was still on his side and believed him innocent). Throughout every concert of that tour he would always thank the audiences for their support and for "the way they keep faith". Just from the way he was adressing audiences on his final tour you could tell that part of him probably realized that these would be his last concerts and that these were his final days as "the Leader", before the full extent of his depravity would come to light, leading to his irreversible downfall. Besides some impromptu performances in some clubs and bars in Vietnam and Cambodia, these would be his last ever concerts.

Pete had told his editor ahead of time about looking into how easy it is for perves to find fodder online. There was legit context to it for his project at the time. He has never been afraid to acknowledge the ugly stuff that goes on everyday. The vice squad wanted to nail him so badly because he would have been a REALLY big fish. He would have went down in flames but DID NOT. There was no concrete substance to the charges. Trial by media is a disgusting thing; so are people who swallow those juicy bits of journalism.
