Tuba should play low with the contra clarinet and contra bassoon

Agreed. We can play that with 4th valve and pedal tone. (Technically it can even go an octave lower than that, but it’s impractical and we don’t talk about that)

well clarinet can also play as high as the piccolo did, but it's rare hence why they didn't do it with the tuba.

@@joshuaburrell3387 the tuba is the same octave as those contra instruments though but it is true the contra clarinet and bassoon utilize the subcontra range more often

From my (limited) experience, piccolo should be able to go like 3 octaves higher than that. My ears have not recovered yet (im joking ofc)

shouldn't doesn't mean anything. I also play tenor trombone and I shouldn't be able to play a false tone without a trigger sense I don't have one but I have gained the ability to play them and have needed them. It's not about if I should be able to it's if the opportunity where I have to play a G or higher shows up I have that ability to Just like I have done with improving my lower and higher range on trombone. Am I going to need to have the kind of range I have on these instruments? Probably not but is it better to be ready or unprepared?

@@MarGamingYT I don’t mean you shouldn’t in the sense that it should be impossible. I mean that’s not a useful range of the instrument with any degree of dexterity or musicality, and should never be used in a performance or written into a composition.

You could have had trombones going down another octave. Even without bass trombones, tenors with a trigger can go down that far. If it was a bass trombones you can go another octave down

@meltedgingerbreadmusic81 in a typical band score the alto sax is not going to an altissimo g either. People that write for bari sax tend to forget, it is a saxophone as well. It is just as capable as tenor and alto. You need to check out Robert W. Smith's work and look at the saxophones. In higher level pieces, he has them all playing the same thing more or less.
@meltedgingerbreadmusic81
@meltedgingerbreadmusic81 6 күн бұрын
@@jetsettech8804 Thanks for the tip, however I made alto go that high because while I haven’t ever seen it go to altissimo G in a piece I’ve encountered, I have seen it go to the D just below it so I just rounded up. For all of these instruments I rounded up to the nearest octave for the sake of neatness and simplicity.
