Most people and I mean the overwhelming majority in prison or jail are there for non violent offenses. Your comment is a bad joke and makes you look like a sheltered 12 year old. Most people incarcerated in the US are our family members, friends, co workers who did something harmless that the country made illegal so they can lock people up for and use for free labor. I was introduced to these chips by a friend who was once in prison. Traveling to NC he found them in a hole in the wall grocery and picked up a few bags. They really are fantastic. The best chip I've ever tasted. Unfortunately they cost entirely too much. So I'll cherish the memory and wait for him to journey to the little hole in the wall store in NC and pick up a few more bags.

Ramen noodles cost $1.00+ in the county jails compared to $0.28 in state prisons.Whole shabangs go for about $1.10 for a 2 ounce bag in the county, compared to $1.20 for a 6-8 once bag in the state prisons...it's very expensive to eat in the county jail....They make a killing off the prison industry, prisoners can't get jobs, that pay more than $0.20 an hour so guess who pays for them, they made more than 1 million...

My church gives asylum to immigrants with a permission to stay in the us for a while and when they cross the border illegally they have to wait from weeks to months to see a judge who will decide if the can stay or they’re getting deported, we hear the craziest stories, but they all agree that federal correctionals have the worst food, cold soup, hard cookies, old meat and that the food from the commissary is really expensive they spend around 100 dollars a week for dollar tree quality so yeah they’re making good money cause they have no options

From what I hear, these are rebranded Zapp’s Voodoo chips which are commercially available to the public. The Whole Shabangs are basically chips branded for prisoners since they don’t want it to taint the brand. Hope this helped anyone
