Doctor Jefferson you are an amazing doctor. Not only do you provide your patients with top notch care, you are teaching all of us in an excellent manner. This is what I love so much about you and your channel. You talk to the patients and ask questions not only about their feet but their general health as well because as you have taught us our illnesses can definitely affect our feet. I am wondering how long you have been in practice. The area you are in is lucky to have you!

Glad to see your use of water when you are smoothing out patients feet, So many podiatrists I see using a dry sander, getting skin dust everywhere, and the temp of that drill has to be going up with all that friction. Good job Dr Jefferson!

Hi Dr J This video is much appreciated. As people age so does their skin Most becomes dry and cracked and can cause fissure especially in the heel. People should apply cream to their feet at night to prevent this from happening and if it doesn’t am sure your podiatrist can help you out Much love and respect from across the pond in Uk x

Videos like this caused me to ask my doctor to refer me to a podiatrist. Now I'm seeing one every few months to get my nails trimmed and to get my feet checked. Being diabetic, this is especially important. Fortunately, I haven't had any major problems. But some ingrown toenails and some smaller calluses have been treated. And by having my feet checked regularly, a lot of bigger problems can prevented. I would encourage everyone to get their feet checked by a podiatrist on a regular basis. For a diabetic, that will be once every few months. Maybe for a non-diabetic maybe it's once every six months or once a year. But it's still important.

By law in mist states, podiatrists are to see diabetic patients every 63 dys.
@TerryProthero
@TerryProthero 5 ай бұрын
@@kimciszek-kane397 I don't know what law are talking about. There are no laws concerning how often you see a doctor. It's a question of what your insurance covers. And medicare covers it once every three months for diabetic patients. But a quick look at various online sources says that diabetics at low risk of complications should see a podiatrist once a year and those at higher risk should see a podiatrist once every 2-3 months. The podiatrist makes a judgement call on it at the first appointment after assessing the patient. It has nothing to do with the law. Since my nails need to be trimmed once every three months, I'm at relatively low risk of diabetic complications, and my insurance covers it once every 3 months, that's how often I go. Since medicare, a federal program, covers it every three months, I'm going to assume that is the default time frame for diabetics unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

A great explanation Dr. Jefferson about the terms of the conditions, treatment, and most important, how to keep on top of the condition so that it is properly managed. Footcare is vital as our feet reflect the rest of our body; take care of your feet, you are taking care of your body.

Some people are ashamed, but I believe most cannot afford a podiatrist, or believe it is not covered under their insurance. Also, what is going on with your feet reflects your general health. Bad feet, poor health. Once your feet are taken care of by Dr Jefferson or any podiatrist, you feel much better. That in turn motivates oneself to take care of their body, their ailments, and leads to better overall health!

I wish my feet were still like that. I could walk on any surface without carrying on like a baby, which is what I do now. It gets really hot in Australia 🇦🇺 and walking without shoes is common, but is also agony, when the temperature of the road is so hot you can cook breakfast on it, eggs 🥚 bacon 🥓 tomatoes 🍅 etc. I used to be able to walk on it with no issues, but then I became a hobbit, and now I’m lucky to cross the road, without looking like an idiot and it’s not only roads but just concrete or even the sand at the beach. 😢 So how can I get my feet back to this stage, or close.
