i AM A HOBBYIST PROGRAMMER AND I DON'T EARN MONEY FROM THESE SKILLS DUE TO FACT THAT I DON'T HAVE A JOB IN COMPUTING WEB DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT. I HAVE LEARNT WEB DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT SKILLS BUT NOT TAKEN ON MORE COMPLEX TASKS THAT ARE INDUSTRY ORIENTED. Programming is cool, I have been programming on and off for the past 10years.I must admit most of the time the skills that I learn and use in my projects which I finish . I always forget more than I remember. FORGET, REMEMBER, FINISH, NOT FINISH, I TAKE IT EASY DO WHAT I CAN AND ENJOY THE CHALLENGES, THINGS THAT I CAN'T TACKLE I ASK MY SKILL LEVEL AND AVOID. BUT I LEARN EVERYDAY. BUILD COOL APPS, USE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES AND OUTDATED TECHNOLOGY AS LONG AS IT WORKS TO DEVELOP PROJECTS.

Samsung S7 Notebook ... A good example of when you don't test hardware enough

Hey Dave, very good video as always. What does Android OS do to work fairly well with all of those different hadware platforms? It has an abstraction layer between the hardware and the OS? If yes, who should develop this layer?
@DaveXiang
@DaveXiang 7 жыл бұрын
hey, good question. It's important to remember that many many people contribute to Android. In these situations, many of the times the companies producing the phones will be developing this layer. Let's say Samsung chooses from various hardware providers to create their new S10 phone. They also have chosen which software will run on this phone. Since Samsung is not in the business of making their own mobile OS (maybe they were at one point) they will elect to use some subset of Android versions to deploy on the S10. What they have to do now, is to make the appropriate software updates to android to make sure that software runs on this new hardware they are putting together. So you will find many big companies also contribute to Android, it is open source after all. Many customizations happen at the hardware / OS layer. There can also be customizations made for specific phones. Many times an Android phone has something special, maybe a special finger sensor on the top of some phones. Some physical feature like that on the phone itself has to be accommodated for in the software somewhere. Also Google just made Pixel which is the first time I think? where they have more control of what hardware their software is running on. Hope this helps. Sorry didn't format this.

Thank you for the answer, I've been very interested about the interaction between software and hardware, and I think our phones are an interesting case of this interaction, so I like very much to talk about this and understand how it works. Keep bring us some good videos like this.
