My feelings changed as the story moved on. I went from thoroughly disliking Mr. Howard to feeling sorry for him, to having actual affection for him. From the moment that woman on the bus started talking, my heart started breaking and the tears started to flow. I was surprised by the fact that the girl didnt start writing until she was retired and that her story was about the time she shared with Bob and that this film is based on that story. It all went full circle and in all her life, she never forgot him .

Vincent always does a great job regardless of who he plays. His depth of emotions stirs us so we may open our eyes, heart & mind to value what's before us. I felt every emotion one can feel when watching movies like this. It was directed & produced perfectly. Thank you for posting this amazing/reality style movie. It's sad he took his life & left this world w/out completing his writings & prose. Just because someone has a different outlook on life, & what they believe it should be, doesn't mean it isn't real. Life takes us on an amazing journey as different people come into our life no matter how long it is. I cried off & on throughout this movie. It touched my heart & made me thankful for who I am & how much being in love w/the right person makes a difference. I'm happier than I've ever been since a very special, amazing man came into my life. We're deeply in love. We have a spiritual connection a lot of couples do not have. Very beautifully perceived and written comment. I can relate to finding the love of your life and like in this movie recognizing, accepting, and loving the unique differences and quirkiness in each other. I was in a very traumatic, loveless marriage for twenty five years and when it was over I was absolutely not looking for anyone and wanted to just finish raising my fifteen year old twin daughters. When out of nowhere this bigger than life West Texas rancher who looked and sounded exactly like John Wayne came into our lives and embraced us all with more love and protection than I had ever realized. He was a total alpha male who had been cattle ranching, riding, roping, building, fixing anything, hunting, a total man’s man that could do anything and yet has the most gentle, generous, sweet soul and loved literature, and is also a very good poet. He wrote and recited wonderful poetry. My whole family has been blessed with this incredible person and although I did not actually bear a child with him we raised one of my twin daughter’s baby girl when my daughter became pregnant at 16. My husband and my hero, even though I’m many years younger than he, has seen me through one advanced stage 4 cancer and never left my side and took incredible care of not only me but our three year old adopted granddaughter at the time, and now eight years later after being cured of the first cancer I am once again battling my second stage 4 cancer, this time I have to stay five hours away from my beloved husband because we live in a very remote area of west Texas and I’m undergoing more treatment and the separation is the hardest part of it all. Someday soon I dream of being able to go back home so we can once again be together again. Thank you for sharing your sensitive and very perceptive insights. Many blessings to you !

As the movie was coming to a close, I wanted to know the ending before it played out on my screen. I think the movie followed the biography pretty well. Naturally one has to cram as much into a nearly 2 hour script as a writer can, but the screenwriter managed to succeed in telling the story of the relationship between Bob and Novalyne. I wish I could have met her. She's a person I would have enjoyed knowing. I've known many authors in my lifetime, but Robert E. Howard inspired my brothers as boys and still do to this day. A profound film, about two wondrous Souls bound beyond earthly connection - excellent actors, both perfect in their own right. What an honour to catch a glimpse of the true story and feel a tiny bit of their stunning bond.

At first, I thought it was boring but then it became one of my favorite stories. The ending made me cry a lot. I love how Howard shows honor and love for his mother. He may sound rude sometimes but if you delve in to the situation he's in, you'll gonna be amaze of his character.

6+18-23 I have wanted to see this movie for years, and I'm so glad I watched it tonight. What an incredible story! A beautiful story about a very complex young man who lived life on his own terms. In spite of his difficulties in life and his flaws, deep down he had a beautiful spirit. Novalyne is/ was (?) clearly an amazing person to have seen beyond the rough edges, and appreciate and love Bob for who he was. This movie really touched my heart, and I only wish Hollywood would produce more quality films like this. Many thanks to the person who posted this!

@@Kittyheavenwith21catsIt's obvious he was mentally troubled, but in his core, he was a kind man who couldn't take the loss of his mother. Novalyne was able to see past his troubled mind and loved him. You're acting like Novalyne's friend in the beginning of the movie.

This one hasn't left my top 10 movies list for a LONG while. Most romantic line in movie history - delivered with perfection. "You got it (a gun) with you?" "No, I don't have it with me." "Well, good. Because I'd hate to try to kiss you... and get shot."

Beautiful love story! What else can I say that was not said in the movie. One has to experience it in order to try and understand why did it have to end this way. Love is the treasure at the end of the rainbow that all of us seek and few ever find.

At the end of the movie, on the bus, for the first time a sunRISE is mentioned to Novalyne Price (Renée) , not all the sunSETS that many scenes had shown and words about them had been uttered. The storyline was so deep, so out of the ordinary that quite early during the movie I felt that A REAL WRITER must have been involved in pouring out all those emotions on us, the viewers. The end of the movie reveals the truth. I'm so glad to have seen it. It was the kind of a sad joy. / Superb acting, especially that of Mr. D'Onofrio.

First movie i believe ive ever watched that puts the viewer thru every human emotion possible. I believe Bob must have been bi polar manic depressive ,or suffered with some other mental illness. He def wasnt normal according to societys standards, but he def wasnt boring. Most great writers in the past were never considered normal anyway. Great tragedy/lovestory/comedy/drama and awesome cast.

I was thinking the same thing. There were so many emotions, so many obstacles, both internal, and external. Like you, I couldn’t help feeling that Bob was once called manic/depressive now called bi-polar. Many great thinkers, writers, poets, artists are very sensitive to the point of depression. A great true story made into a very interesting, deep, emotional movie!
@yodservant Жыл бұрын
Howard reminds me of North Carolina writer Thomas Wolfe in some ways re his behavior....manic and depressive, hyper and socially awkward/frustrated. Clearly both geniuses, and both died very young, Wolfe was just 37 from pneumonia I believe. Also Nathanael West who died in 1940 in a car accident in California near the Mexican border.... interestingly they all died around the same time. West is most famous for Day of the Locust and Miss Lonelyhearts.

My first time seeing this movie but not the first time seeing Mr D’Ornofrio or Miss Renee Zellweger act and I have to say that they never disappoint. I really believed that they were the characters that they played until I learned that the story was not fiction but real. I like others who made comments found out at the end of this movie. Wow! This is a very good movie, one that I don't forget even years later. The story itself is unforgettable. What a visionary writer gone too soon. I do believe if Price had not left he would have strength to live on. She promised to write once she settled in but she didn't. Two women he loved and were emotionally attached to were gone. He might have looked tough and barbarous but he was very insecure like a little child.
