This is a movie that ALL people should watch, learn, and carry on their ways as Hazel did. We all take of pants off the same way, we all bleed red and we should all love each other as though everyone is our brother and sister. There are no blacks, no whites, no other color, just human beings that our loving Lord has made us to be.

Thank-You for sharing that; I deeply appreciate Your ongoing-determination to be as fair as possible, despite the negative-backlash presenting both-sides fairly generated! I’m very-happy to be able to express My Thanks to You. …So often We simply feel disconnected from the source, helpless to interact with Newspeople, Journalists; the Industry feels like a big and faceless corporation, caring most about money/power/fame/status. I’m praying that there ARE still Others who feel, and act, as You did; My Friend. …Those voices may be small, but each is mighty - in the Bigger-Context! ❤

This movie should be shown in every school. It is only when children are taught truth and love at an early age will they learn true love.Apathy for all lives is the way to find peace and harmony. Courage is what older adults need to teach and show if our world is to change. A very sad movie that brought many tears. All those who study journalism should know that the truth must be told. Magnificent movie! My parents raised me to be "color blind" and it was the school system in Portland Oregon that taught me racism, by calling me a no good honky! My first close friend was black, and I did not know it was a problem for a white girl to have a black friend. He did not know I was white either. His parents taught HIM to be color blind. Our parents became friends during the year 1968, when racism was high in Portland Oregon. Dad told me his close friend was black, and he was murdered in Biloxi Mississippi in 1959 by the KKK. His body was found just outside the military base located there. The military officials told him his friend was murdered because he was black. In retaliation all the men on the base were forbidden to go into town to spend their money when on leave. My Dad who was indeed white--was shocked over the murder. My mother as a child, toured the south with her parents picking crops. She witnessed for herself segregation. She told me about "colored hospitals," and "colored only fountains" and such. She would rebel and as a white use those facilities--in protest. It scared her parents because they feared reprisals from white folks. My parents taught me that Jesus loves all people--and I went to college and learned that there is ONLY one race of people per DNA--we are all the same! We are only different shades of brown. There are no white, or black people! WE are all just different shades of brown! It is about time everyone accepts that, and quit the bickering and fighting and racism and grow up. Over the years I have taken heat and been discriminated against for standing up for the rights of all--and I am glad I did! I am also glad God blessed me with a skin disease that for more than 20 years artificially darkened my skin 10 shades darker than normal. I experienced life as a colored person as a young teen into my young adulthood. I got a really good taste of discrimination in employment, social circles, and even in the medical field and in housing too. Today, I am disabled, but fight for the rights of others as an advocate from my hospital bed, with my computer lap top! I have been doing this for over 19 years! Thanks for this movie, I was very inspired, and it lifted my spirits to continue to fight! I will never give up fighting for equal treatment and equal rights for all, until I am in my grave! God Bless, Michelle from Gresham Oregon

Sensational movie. I started to cry when the cars arrived at the funeral. Unfortunately, it usually takes too long for most people to accept the truth, but still better late than never. There is a teaching in the Jewish Talmud: "If one has the ability to protest against [and try to prevent] the sins of members of his household [or his city, or the entire world] and fails to do so, he will be held accountable [by God] for the sins of the members of his household [or his city, or the entire world]." It teaches further that if protesting threatens his well-being, he need not do so, but if he does, his heavenly reward will be great. The message is: If a million people stand by in silence as an injustice is committed against their fellow human being, they are all held accountable morally, for if even one of them raised his voice in protest and tried to incite moral outrage among his fellow humans, he may have changed up to a million hearts. How many minds and hearts did individuals like Emile Zola or Abe Lincoln change?

I first experienced racism when I was about 5 or 6. We were at our yearly camp mouth oh Klamath River. I met my first girlfriend there her skin was black I'm colored white. We are all human color no matter. We played with the Indian children the were red skinned. We all got along fine. The next year was started the same except a few days later mamma called me in to our small camper. Crabs in the kettle on the stove. Momma told me I couldn't play with Sara anymore. Grandma was with us this year and she doesn't cotten to black folks ya see Grandma was from Kansas. What's that got to do with anything I thought while tears ran down. Momma said this time we need to respect Grandmas wishes as she traveled along way by bus to visit us. So I snuck out and went to Sara we put a blanket out laid down and watched the clouds drift. We were holding each other and crying when I told her. We are all made in the image of God. Her dad came out said well I'm Indian too. They weren't staying as long and packing up to go. Sara and I made a PAC that we would never forget each other. I know in my heart she remembers us and our frienship. Racisms doesn't end here for me and learning of but I vowed I wouldn't be apart of. To this day I stand for God and Jesus and freedom. I think of my friend and other friends teachers all through my life. God bless all ( love this movie)

Yes, I believe we have and amongst good people we are at least going in the right direction. This material world is not a fit place for living for any good gentleman or lady. This is the fact, but we embrace the illusion that we can be happy and comfortable here, even when happiness here is s mere respite from misery. That's because this world has very strict laws of nature that apply to every living being. Money will not buy freedom from death. Education, beauty or fame will not garner immunity from old age, or disease or birth again in the cycle of samsara. Strength is limited to circumstances. Let's live in the Spiritual world after this one, and as far as possible live in spirit while we are here. Then we are preparing ourselves and others for success.

He should have been impeached for his disgusting beliefs and those of his party. Further back in history, The Lincoln-Douglas debates clearly reflect the two choices many voters were talking about at that time. It hurts my heart that things really haven't changed much, especially in Mississippi. This lady has my respect. She was a true ally. There aren't many like her who are willing to do the right thing no matter what. I wish people would realize that we really aren't any different. I have the same hopes and dreams for my child as everyone else has for theirs. Just three nights ago a Black man was assaulted by a group of White men in my neighborhood park. He was critically injured after being beaten with a baseball bat. 30 years ago the same thing happened to my little brother in the very same park. He was only 10 years old. My brother served on the front lines in Iraq. He was a medic and was awarded a purple heart. The highest honor a soldier can get while still alive. He's a good man. A good son, brother, uncle, and father. But he is still treated like a second class citizen in this country. The same country he fought to protect and almost lost his life for is the same country that tells him that he is less than those who certainly never would have put on that uniform and fought. Why are we so much less than everyone else? All we want is to he able to live in peace. To have the same opportunities as everyone else. The same people who stand beside us publicly are stabbing us in the back when no one is looking. My son turned 15 years old today and I am afraid for him. I feel bad that I chose to bring him into this world. Because I foolishly believed that times were changing. My son is a good boy. He's never caused any trouble. And two years ago he was roughed up and handcuffed by a police officer because he and a group of other boys were in the park after curfew. I have never explained curfew to my son because I never thought that I had to. That night he was sleeping over at a friend's house for a birthday party. They were in the park with the boy's dad's permission. And my son believef that as long as he had permission to go it was okay. He has never been out that late before or since. I'm old school and my son knows when the street lights come on he has to be in the house. There was a total of 6 boys. They were on the merry go round when the police showed up. They weren't being loud or anything. 5 of the boys were white. My son was not. Yet my son was the only one who was bleeding and in handcuffs. My son's friend asked the officer why he was handcuffed and the officer told him that it was because he didn't know my son and didn't know if my son was going to try and hurt him. My son didn't have anything that could he used as a weapon unless it was a shoelace. And none of those boys had ever met that officer. So why was mine singled out? He hadn't even started puberty yet. My son's innocence was stolen that night. It was the night that he learned that he was different, and not in a good way. It needs to stop. My son is no less deserving of the American dream than anyone else. Even if racism doesn't affect you directly you have to think about those that it does. Please vote and vote wisely in November. We have an openly racist president and that has to change.

I feel your pain. There is all kind of prejudice in the world. It has always been the Republicans that have voted to help stop prejudice for the black people, not the Democrats. President Trump has helped black colleges, help prison reform, black unemployment was WAY down before the virus. More black people were starting up businesses. He had about 200 or 300 black youth that were leaders in their schools to the white house. These kids were so excited to be there and for their future. Donald Trump in the past decades has helped many black people start businesses of their own. He has never been a racist. That is just what the main street people want you to think. They are democrats that do not care for anyone but them selves. Please do research and find the truth. Many black people are moving to the right. The Black Lives Matter organization do not care either They give their funding to the Democrats. Democrats want a socialist and a communist country. They want to remove millions of us, Look up UN AGENDA 21 . Use Bling not GOOGLE.

I vote for whomever I believe is the lesser of two evils regardless of what party they belong to. And maybe he's helped some black people but I haven't been on the receiving end of it personally so I cannot say the same. My personal situation is so bad now that I have to be a little selfish and think of myself for once. I'm recovering from a brain tumor in the middle of a pandemic trying to raise my child alone. I am currently in the process of packing up the things in my home that we need to survive and selling the big stuff. And putting everything else into storage because I can't pay my rent. I'm keeping my car because I may have to live in it. So I'm sorry but I can't be as optimistic as you. All my savings and my 401k is long gone. It paid for our living expenses and medical costs while I had to fight social security because they don't think that a brain tumor is a disabling condition. I need help and no one is willing or able. Good to see movies like this! When speaking of and condemning past racist systems, such as slavery, colonialism, and the Jim Crow era, it is important to remember the white men and women who opposed injustice, even at expense to their lives. It was not easy for them to fight against the tide, and I, as a woman of colour, honour their sacrifice. May I be so brave if ever likewise called to stand for what is right.

In these comments, people mention bravery and courage a lot, but that's really not what it is. When one's convictions are stronger than any fear, there's no contest about what to do, and there's no need or call for courage. When convictions are stronger than any fear, when one cannot do anything but stand for truth, they stand.
@veronicasanacion

It takes courage to stand by our convictions. I grew up in a country ruled by a US-CIA supported dictartorship. We saw human evil and State- terrorism destroy love and peace in order to maintain the economic and political power in the hands of some groups. Still, millions took to the streets once fear wasn´t a reason to live anymore.

@@cacatr4495 It is still courageous, because most people are cowards even today. Many of your own co workers wont stand up for you when you speak up against what is wrong in the workplace. @cacatr4495
@cacatr4495 2 жыл бұрын
@@WindDancer435 But courage is courage because of cowardice, which is the strong sense of fear. Reread my earlier comment in this thread. *When* conviction of Truth is stronger than fear, then cowardice isn't an issue. Courage is only courage when one is strongly sensing fear. When that fear is put asunder, then only Truth and strength of soul rises without need of "courage." There is only courage where there is fear. Again, reread that earlier reply. You are correct when you write of many people being cowards; that is because they don't know how to deal with fear. Courage can operate in the face or midst of fear, but if one's convictions are stronger than any fear, then there's no need for courage. Truth is stronger than fear. If many people don't know the truth, then will they ever have convictions stronger than fear? No. The best they'll ever have, then, is courage. This means that courage is a #2 to Truth-conviction. People treat courage as if it's a hero, as if it's #1, but it's not. It's a poor substitute for conviction of the truth, and it doesn't have half the strength.

Like fighting for children to be allowed to get on a bus with plenty of room instead of one child per seat. While other children stood in the cold about 20 more minutes waiting for the next bus. That was a big thing that day. But what Hazel and people like her have done in their lives for others are monumental events in our history. People shouldn't depend on the media for their notions of the truth or how people feel toward each other. A great deal of what people see on the screen is manufactured, not truth. I agree with Art Johnson. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in many cities, we moved a lot when I was a child. I lived in Compton during the Compton riots. I also played with many people of color and was taught that color made no difference. I have also believed in that and still do to this day. When I got divorced from my ex-husband I moved to Kansas City 1978 and lived with my in-law and one night we were out dancing at a bar and I dance with an African American on the dance and then came back to where I was sitting. The owner of the bar told me that if I did that again I would be immediately disbarred from the bar. I was just so shocked that things have not changed. I worked at a nurse's registry and they always sent me to Marting Luther King hospital to work there. Which is an all African American hospital! I was the only token white person that worked there and I never felt any racism of any kind we all got along beautifully. I was also told where to live because there was an unwritten law that no Whites could live below Independence Avenue. No African American could be in that area after dark. I hated how people treated African Americans I finally moved back in 1982 to my beloved Los Angeles, California. I met an African American gentlemen and we fell in love and lived together for 15 years. So we became Salt and Pepper cops were always pulling us over to check for drugs, of course, we did not have none. Women of color can be cruel too with a mixed couple, and some are very kind and we got along with them. During the 1992 riots, people of color except for myself and my long time friend had to sit and watch the ones burning down buildings, robbing stores, and Malls. I have seen it all. I took care of my neighbors who were all African Americans during the riots they needed food to feed their children because they were waiting on their checks. So I gave them hamburgers. bread, soup, and anything that I had that I could share I did. Once it cooled down a bit because I had been threatened by some of the looters because I was I was White. I took a few of my neighbors to the nearest grocery store that had not been burned down or closed so they could get food to provide for their families because I was leaving to go stay at my sister's house until this all blew over. My boyfriend that I lived with had sisters who were the meanest women who just sit and judge people at a cafe, anywhere they went even if I was with them. I could not believe what I heard so I stopped going around them. Racism was still going on when I left and I moved to St. Louis to be near my grandchildren and Wow Missouri still has not changed. African Americans are still afraid to come into my area of town. Too many rednecks. Lord, I wish we could just all get along. This movie bought me to tears and made me remember all those years of hatefulness between caucasian and people of color. That means all people of color not only African Americans. God Bless everyone. We are all people and bleed the same color. Amen.

Semone G How right you are, Semone. The evil brainwash of then is as now ....that was their normal. For us, normal is sleeping well at night while babies are wrenched from their mother's uterus...some for their body parts, some for experiments, some to be eaten. We spend billions on junk made in China by slave labor. We scare the crap out of school children teaching them the world will end in 10 years because of plastic straws and free market capitalism. Did you know Pres. Woodrow Wilson re-segregated civil service? Like she said in this movie, we are all to blame for not speaking out. Ezekiel 9...we must speak out against the abominations of our day. So glad you are. And, yes, we are expected to judge....we are to hate what the Almighty hates and love what He loves. How can we know what this is? We read His WORD...it's in there...and judge according to HIS commands.

Nancy Monaghan We need to judge the « actions and attitudes of people as well as our own...but not the person...that our Lord reserved for himself...this include beautifying people as well as sending them to hell! BUT we can and must condemn the route that people take for wide is the road to hell! God bless.

The cook's faith, the main character's bravery, the contractor's integrity... It's not a black or white thing. It's a good / bad thing. How can people be so hateful and evil??? But blessed to see that the Lord is still in the business of leading and strengthening people to be good. Praying that we all seek to be like Jesus🙏

Excellent movie and the best and now we have more prejudiced than ever in our history. When will all stop!!!! The creation of poverty of inner cities, lack of skills and job wages and a minimum wage were never meant to be living wage. Only after school wage and help with going to college. Yesterday, things were cheaper and our dollar stretch more and now food prices and rents are very high. Wages have not gone up and only rent, food, and basic living has skyrocketed and creation of homeless in our great country.

alexandrasophia24 The 10 largest impoverished cities in the United States are controlled by Democrats. Over 30 million illegals in this country contribute to keeping wages low and depletes availability of jobs and services for legitimate citizens. (Mostly paid by taxes from our dwindling middle class.) Public Health facilities for healthcare is available for everyone based on income or lack of it......however, most Americans are unaware of this....and serve mostly Latinos. This, as Al Gore would say, is "an inconvenient truth." Don't you think some of these things create many of the conditions you mentioned?

NOT BECAUSE THEY FELT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA, BUT BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. Fantastic movie, fantastic script. The past is not ALWAYS Glorious & pretty.This was not all that long ago. My Mother who grew up in Pennsylvania, remembers white crosses burning on lawns as a child.. It's a shame, PPL don't remember these VITAL HISTORICAL lessons !!!. ✝️🙏🛐

What a beautiful movie! and so very true! I don't know why there are people in the world that are so racist, not only racist but the nastiness goes with it too! and brutality! we are all human beings! whether we are black or white or of different culture! we all deserve to be treated with respect, we bleed the same, we have the same coloured blood running in our veins, we cry the same! so why are there people that cannot accept this!
