I'm glad that travel ball wasn't a big thing when I was growing up. It was little league and/or school baseball. I played little league starting at age 19, through my freshman year of high school. Starting as a sophomore, I made the school team and became the starting catcher for the next 3 years. I wouldn't trade those experiences for the demands of travel ball (baseball or softball) that I see kids going through now.

Agree 100%. As a dad who's oldest got signed to play college baseball, we would have done the travel ball thing totally different. More money spent on development, camps, clinics, prospect camps. Coaches do not care about the name on the front of the jersey. Can you play baseball..that is what they care about. I don't recommend doing showcases. They are a money grab as well. And if you don't do well at a showcase, those numbers stick. And you have to go back over and over to get the numbers up. Avoid showcases....just do camps, clinics, and prospect camps.

Curious how that strategy works out. It's counter to what I hear, but being counter can be a good way to get noticed. It certainly is a better way to get balance in life.

It is going to be interesting to see how it works out for sure. It’s outside the NORM.

The red flag is that they switched teams way too many times...As a coach you can feel who is going leave...It obvious.. we take that into consideration when that kid is at our tryout...
