Quite frankly, he realizing that or not probably wouldn't matter for the match. Every Eldrazi that appears against him seems to have the nut draw and the best Kozilek's Command of the world
Phil is such a good guy. Every time I see him geek out about helping people I can’t help but root for him. I’ve been enjoying this content for over a year and I just look forward to him every day.

Well, I'm happy the deck I sent in at least put up a winning record. Sad that wight is too slow, I really liked that card during spoiler season, but it is what it is. Still wild to me that you only saw flare of malice against Nadu.
@ThrabenUniversity3 ай бұрын
I do not understand how that happened from a mathematical standpoint. The chance of drawing a card in your opening hand when you play 3 copies of it is 31.5%. Given the number of mulligans and natural draws over the course of 4 rounds, it's just absurd that we never saw a single one.

For wight i love the "landfall create a creature" idea like necrobloom, field of the dead, and among others in legacy its only field thats playable so in the future try that idea out
@juke8542 ай бұрын
I think the 18th land should be a Dryad Arbor. It helps cast Hogaak a lot. Think about these scenarios for example. You have empty board and in the graveyard is Gaak and one bloodghast and bunch of other cards. You draw a fetch land, fetch Arbor, bring back ghast and then cast Hogaak. Or there is Hogaak and Vengevine in bin. You draw a Satyr Wayfinder and cast it. Find a fetch (or Dryad). Then fetch Dryad, cast Hogaak, bring back Vengevine. Or if you have one creature in play already, every fetch will get you to cast Hogaak. And once adding Dryad Arbor helps cast Hogaak a lot, I would then maybe add fourth one in the deck.
@odoylerules14353 ай бұрын
I thought of a cool combo with hogak and a new card. So you can play birthing ritual in your deck and sac hogak every turn and then play big creatures to birth into. Might be bad, might be good just an idea. Also, birthing ritual with bloodghast and gravevrawler is just pure value also. As you can sac them to birthing ritual every turn almost.

Phill. I know the legacy meta is kind of broken right now. The modern cats deck you played not long ago was a lot of fun to see. Are you planning on releasing more modern or non legacy content until we get it fixed, or does it depend on what people donate?

I do think this deck is better than it looked here, the mana base is just very flawed with wanting two colored mana so often on turn two and having the three wastelands in there.

55:59 Nadu needs to go for being too durdly like KCI or eggs. And while I dont think you have to ban it on power level alone, the fact that it is widely played helps make the ban case.
@claytonleal79472 ай бұрын
I think if wight lands came in untapped it would be a strong strong card. as is i think we are waiting on another land to be printed that cracks it wide open. having instant speed bojuka bog access is awesome so i think if we get 1-2 more etb lands that would be perfect. Sejiri Steppe and mortuary mire are the only other etb lands that have any relevance and i think its pretty clear both are just subpar but 1 more set with spell effects as an etb trigger on lands then i could see wight suddenly being a buildaround kinda card

Round 1, Game 1 might be the perfect example that Legacy has too many Sol lands available. Maybe we need to start looking at a ban of Eye of Ugin?
@ThrabenUniversity2 ай бұрын
Nah, I don't think the Eldrazi deck has anything that is bannable at this time. It has some absurd starts, but I think it's a very solid, but not overpowered deck if people actually have maindeck/sideboard slots to respect it.

How do you feel about Prized amalgam as another recursive creature and potential pitch card? It does push you into sultai if you want the chance to hard cast it, but it also comes back by itself if you manage to use reanimate, bloodghast, grave crawler, or cast a Gaak from the yard. But at that point I have to ask why you'd be playing this instead of a direct UB or UBG Dredge deck. And that's the end result for me, I would rather be questioning if Grist or Flare could/should be slotting into existing Dredge or dedicated self-mill decks. As for Wight, it feels REALLY strange to me to be playing a deck with a land tutor and not having some number of win conditions or utility built into the land base. All the deck has for Wight to grab is one surveil, some color fixing, and 3x wastelands that were already questionable because of how few lands the deck is otherwise playing and how color-specific the cards it wants to play already are. (the deck has 65 colored mana pips in the main deck compared to only 38 colorless, and that includes the 3x5 colorless of Hogaak you get to "cheat")
@ThrabenUniversity2 ай бұрын
It seems fine, but not overly exciting. I'd rather just cut Wight and play a more traditional Gaak list though rather than lean into its synergies.

Is anyone starting to feel nervous about Glaring Fleshraker? In a post-Grief world, Eldrazi may be too strong
@data_abort3 ай бұрын
Flash raker can't be the problem to me because it's too fair. We would have to see about Eldrazi. Even if the combo is Koz-kommand for large X and Raker, that seems an eminently fair way to win by legacy standards. There is always Eye if you want to weaken Eldrazi. It was too good for Modern.
@ThrabenUniversity2 ай бұрын
I *think* traditional options (more removal, Blood Moon, etc) can keep eldrazi in check if the metagame isn't fighting tooth and nail vs UB shells.
@Mastblood3 ай бұрын
The more i watch wright of the reliquary be played the more I'm convinced that its just not a legacy playable card. The cost of sacking a creature is too much and the land coming in tapped is Brutal. Trying to build around it and putting bad cards into your deck like bloodghast and gravecrawler just isnt a competitive stratagy.
