Leafie is one of my favorite animated films ever. Definitely both Wild Robot and Leafie are masterpieces. I, too, thought about Leafie when I saw TWR. Unfortunately, the Leafie is almost impossible to find anywhere in the United States, especially the Korean version. I would love to own a copy some day. It’s such an incredible film. And I personally think the beauty of Leafie IS the understated nature of the film. It’s a delicate film (as well as based on a book, just like TWR is based on a book). The ending packs a punch. Leafie was not supposed to be a blockbuster in terms of action. It’s a film that’s meant to be a film that grabs you in a way that is rarely done in American films, and most animated films in general. I also felt TWR’s weakest aspect was a little too much action at the end, and the villain was a little over the top, but these are very minor critiques of a film that was overall a masterpiece. Thank you for sharing! It’s so nice to see someone else who appreciated both films and saw the parallels as I did. ❤
