Monsters don't spawn on mushroom islands, if that appeals to you. If you get rid of the mycelium and plant grass, it's a very vibrant shade of green.

Dude, as a very picky person when it comes to base locations, I completely understand you. Sometimes I have to make temporary bases (more like a hole in the ground) so I have a place to rest from all the traveling for a few irl days before I decide to set off again. Also, that place is amazing. Taking three episodes to find it was definitely worth it. Cant wait to see what you will build there. In sure it'll look amazing. :)

Honestly I'm very interested in seeing what will a creative builder do with the limitations of survival (limited movement, resources and risk of dying). Are you planning on a long term survival playthrough or you're not yet certain?

Also, i really love how 1.18 terrain inspires people to build, while i understand the nostalgic feeling people have for older terrain generation, I think the new terrain helps with unleashing creativity.

Not sure if you or anyone else has mentioned this (I'm watching without sound) but when looking for fishing rods in loot chests, Mending is the enchantment you want to look for. Mending heals the tool/armor you're using with XP, and you get XP from fishing, so as long as you use the rod correctly the rod never breaks

3:36 curse of vanishing is basically this: when you die, any item with the curse of vanishing enchantment will literally vanish (like when you die, your inventory will drop, but the fishing rod won't. Unless you manually drop it before you die, you won't have that item anymore.)

Yes the Mushroom biome is very rare, especially that big. Use leather boots to walk on snow

If you don't want mobs to spawn around your builds, you'll have to spam torchs until you have a better way to light up the environment.
