The zero-g effect was solved ages ago; you turn the scene on its side and use vertical movement for forward and backward. Easy for everyone involved and very convincing due to much of the obvious tells with wirework not being an issue. Any production not doing it like that is just wasting money and effort.

(Has anyone felt like a lot of media lately has a similar look? This hyper clean, almost fake, look?) I just really feel that Hollywood used to be so much better at figuring out how to create a visually appealing aesthetic for each project. Now there's this weird fixation on this bland realism? We need to bring back all sorts of different techniques we used to use in order to create a certain atmosphere and feel to different movies. We need to reconnect with different VFX techniques and practical techniques as well, also this one's very important we need to bring back animation!
@samuraibeluga37492 күн бұрын
theres plenty of visually diverse movies out there, anyone that claim otherwise honestly needs to expand their horizons beyond not only just hollywood productions but also to foreign productions. also animation never went away, just because people want to be elitists about it doesnt mean 3d animation shouldnt count. some of the best animated movies out there are 3d animated. it also ignores the renaissance animation has been going through as of recent years, and the absolute bangers of movies we been having.

Primarily the effect is with Film Converts emulation software that features halation. I add a couple other blur filters in there as well but then with the test I do a bit of a black border around it so the halation has something to bleed over to give it that pronounced halation effect. In the description, I have links to the discounted emulation software! They are actually one of our long term sponsors and are super great!

Nice ad segue 😉 Props. The forest fire was pretty cool but not sure it was worth the risks. I'm glad CGI is replacing the riskiest stunt work considering how many in that line of work still die or suffer catastrophic injuries. Practical makeup effects are still highly appreciated but CGI is getting to the level that brings impossible worlds/dreams to life and I'm here for it.

6:16 The James Bond Record was a "plan B" for that movie. They wanted to flip the Aston with a ramp, but the thing was so planted that it would just return to all four wheels and slide to a stop (after almost taking out a crew member in rehearsals). So they installed the pneumatic canon-system, and decided "if we do it like this, let's go BIG"

@acrosstheboardcinema13 сағат бұрын
No love for Terrifier 3? Whether your thing or not, the whole franchise’s successful run has been built on the use of practical effects, which are alarmingly good and important given the penchant to do everything in post these days. Besides the villain, the story of how these films came to be are built on the talent of the creator-a major proponent of practical- now slowly becoming a horror director to be mentioned with some of the greats. Plus a $2M budgeted film nearing $100M box office shouldn’t be ignored.

I think it's more productions have gotten a lot better at integration between practical and digital and opening more lines of communication between departments during principal filming and pre-production.
