What is the stuff used to fill the spaces in between the form during alteration? And why is a plastic bag used to cover the head during the sewing process? Thanks

i'm not sure about the fill-in stuff, but iirc the head is kept in a plastic bag to prevent it from drying out fully before the head is worked on, since it needs to go on a bit damp.

How do you know how big the construction has to be?? Is it just trial and error or do you somehow measure the hide before?

There is a series of measurements that are taken right after the skin is fleshed and split and turn. Before salting to send to a tannery.

LunaDrawsSongs Drawings - Most likely. However, they don't kill these animals for the fur. They generally collect if from animals who died humanely in captivity.

@@threeleggedrat9229 Actually the majority of taxidermy is just the hide from animals that are killed on hunts. all you have to do is use the hide and you can still use the rest of the animal for food
