Congratulations guy's. Dr Who in The Williamson's tunnels, they will be world famous now. I am certain you never imagined something like this could ever happen the first time you went down that hole in the ground. The tunnels would be the perfect set for a Tea Party at some point in the future !

I wonder if those tunnels were used as air raid shelters in WW2?

They were investigated as a possibility for air raid shelters but found to be quite unsuitable. They weren't strong enough to withstand bombing and could have been a death trap, burying people alive.
