First off, major spoiler at 19:55 in case this happens to be your first time watching The Wind Waker. ;) "Second Quest" part of the game assumes you've already seen the game already, given that this is a second play through. So Jabun is going to reveal a certain somebody's identity a little earlier than intended. Also, big thanks to Jon from GoodVibesGaming for lending his voice to bring Jabun to life!

*Link’s Journal: Day 4 Continued* The wind shrine was a small islet just offshore of Dragon Roost, holding nothing but a ceremonial gate and a standing tablet with 3 arrows carved into it. The King of Red Lions said the stick he gave me earlier (I think he called it the Wind Waker?) could “channel the power of the gods,” so I figured I’d see what’d happen if I waved it in the directions carved into the tablet. The moment I did, I suddenly felt the wind slam me in the back and knock me over. I’d only just gotten up when I heard an unfamiliar voice beside me, which belonged to a giant frog sitting on a cloud. From what I can remember (He spoke faster than I could comprehend him): His name was Zefos (I think that’s how it’s spelled?), the wind god mentioned by Valoo; He referred to _me_ as the Wind Waker for some reason, told me the stick waving I just did was a tune that gives me control over the direction of the wind; He warned me about his brother (Syklos?), who’s been creating windstorms around the Great Sea because his shrine got damaged, and then Zefos said that I should scold his brother for him, should we cross paths. I needed to write all of that down, because there’s no way I could possibly remember that 500 knot speaking for more than 10 minutes. *Link’s Journal: Day 5* After resupplying at Windfall Island, I made my way back to Dragon Roost, since my next destination is directly South from there. Along the way, however, I was stopped by a talking fish (I’m not even gonna bother questioning this anymore) who pointed out an apparent lack of detail in my sea chart and managed to draw a detailed outline of Dragon Roost Island in the tiny area it inhabited on my chart. Before it left, the fish also said that its brethren will help fill out my sea chart and give me information on nearby islands as I near them, all in exchange for some standard fishing bait. Making this note for future reference. Could be useful. Since we were a ways off from our destination, I decided to chat up the King of Red Lions so we could update each other on our progress with the upcoming attack on the Forsaken Fortress. Based on my description of the encampment at the summit of Dragon Roost, and his investigation via the talking fish, it looks like Gannon has been sending out scouting parties all across the Great Sea in search of the same pearls we’re after ourselves. What purpose he’d have for the pearls is beyond me, as is the reason the King of Red Lions wants me to gather them in the first place. Whatever. I’m sure he has his own agenda, just like I do. He can go on about ancient spirits and sacred places all he wants, I’m just doing this because it’s my best shot at successfully storming the Forsaken Fortress and getting Aryll back home. After half a day’s sailing, we reached our destination: An island-sized tree that the King of Red Lions called the Forest Haven. He also said it was the home of an earth spirit called the Great Deku Tree, and that I had to speak to the tree and gain its gem, Farore’s Pearl. I’m not sure what use talking to a tree will do, but if that’s what the boat wants me to agree to, then I can just pretend I did while I’m just yanking the pearl for the mission. Given the presence of Ganon’s forces at Dragon Roost, I’ll have to keep my wits about me here. Who knows what he’s sent to this place. Upon fully entering the Forest Haven, I found myself surrounded by trees and water. In the center of the Haven was a particularly large tree that seemed to have a face growing on it. When I got closer to it, it sprouted dozens of creatures that seemed to be made of living slime. Even after knocking them out of the tree, actually getting rid of them was easier said than done. After I got rid of the slime creatures, and after it spoke gibberish for a bit, the tree with a face introduced itself to me as the Deku Tree. Since the Deku Tree could actually speak my language, we were actually able to directly converse about the goings on with Ganon’s army, and he quickly agreed to give me Farore’s Pearl. I just have to wait for his “children,” the wooden people he calls Koroks, to finish an annual ceremony before I can set off. Unfortunately, one of the Koroks managed to get himself trapped in a place called the Forbidden Woods. Naturally, the Deku Tree requested I rescue him (As if I have much of a choice) and had me climb into his canopy to grab a leaf that will, supposedly, allow me to fly over to the Forbidden Woods. The Forbidden Woods has every right to be forbidden. The place is overgrown with insects bigger than me, man-eating plants _and_ Ganon’s own minions. The further I delved into the Woods, the less certain I was that Makar was even alive, the only sign of possible civilization being a single item: A stout stick that was very clearly shaped to a precise angle. Testing out the shaped stick showed the angle’s purpose: When thrown, the stick will return to the user. This helped me cut through some of the vines that blocked my path through the Woods. I managed to find Makar trapped in a plant roughly the size of the creature that attacked Valoo, only this plant made a habit of attaching itself to the ceiling to avoid any competition. I’m thankful to have found the Returning Stick, since I was able to cut down the plant and simultaneously cripple it enough for me to cut it apart with my sword. Somehow, Makar found the idea of getting his “father” angry scarier than being eaten by a giant carnivorous plant. I can’t say I blame the kid, though. The return trip to the Forest Haven was, thankfully, much easier than going into the Forbidden Woods. Despite Makar’s worries, the Deku Tree reassured the wooden boy that he was just worried about his child. Makar then went on to conduct the Koroks’ annual ceremony: A concert performed by the entire population with the purpose of sprouting seeds from the Deku Tree, which they plant all across the Great Sea. After the ceremony was completed, the Deku Tree kept his word and gave me Farore’s Pearl. Once I told the King of Red Lions about the spread of monsters in the Forest Haven, he didn’t hesitate giving me the direction of the last of his pearls: In the possession of a sea spirit named Jabun, who lives nearby to the northwest. Given the apparent escalation of Ganon’s attacks, I have no doubt he’s already sent minions to Jabun’s realm.

I had never realized that the 3 statues that hold the pearls looked like the 3 oracles from the Oracle games. Pretty!

17:09-17:19 I actually discovered this by accident. When I first played this game, which was in the year it first came out, I felt so bad for Grandma that I tried everything to help her. I tried to give her items to wake her up, potions for her to drink but I ended up having Link drink them, everything that you could do (I was only 11 years old at the time). It wasn’t until I pulled out a fairy in a bottle that I discovered what to do. When it swirled around Link, I thought “Great, I just wasted a fairy,” but when the fairy swirled around Grandma, I was like 😮 “I did it!“ and I was so so so happy. Since then, any time I play the game, when I get to this point, I ALWAYS make sure to have a fairy so that I can save Grandma 💜

Jon did so well as Jabun, and I'm seriously loving Megami's Tetra. I mean, I'm loving the whole cast, but those two were definite standouts for me this chapter. I can't wait to hear Gohdan's voice :)

I actually like the new voice of the goddess statues. Here she sounds really ethereal and yet it doesn't hold back thay she can be playful too.

Another great chapter you guys, things turned out great for this segment in the story 😁. I'm really enjoying how you guys are extending the content of this project. Making the chapters feel episodic in a way, as to immerse us into the world of Wind Waker, as well as spend more time with the story. Kind of reminds me of your Twilight Princess project and how the same method was done there, and I just loved it 😁. I really enjoyed how the chorus members sung Jabun's theme, they did a fantastic job making it sound even more otherworldly than the original did. Really liking this direction with the music thus far 😉. I really appreciate you guys choosing to spend time with the residents of Windfall Island as to gage their thoughts on the events taking place there. Further highlighting how expansive this story is with every character seen in it. Brandon Acosta was exquisite as ever as Quill. I especially love how compared to how he did his dialogue last time, he sounds more composed here, but you could still make out the severity in his words, adding to how serious the situation is 🙂. Mako and Gonzo were also great outliers in terms of their steady vocal performances. Especially Gonzo, who I think Cyrus Rodas did a good job giving a bit of sternness to him but still retaining his bashful and harty demeanor. I'm starting to be endeared to Adam New's performance as Niko, he really makes you feel for the guy while also acknowledging how silly he is 😆. I also love how he makes him sound so into his trials, lol. Jon Cartwight as Jabun did a great job making his character sound so grand and ethereal, just like his theme. The effect on his voice works well, and I love how steady and majestic he sounds with it. Hands down again for Elsie Lovelock's performances as the Grandma. As though anyone should be surprised 😏, XD. That scene with her whimpering in her sleep did the trick 🥲. Elsie sounded so believable as an actual old lady being emotional, and it just made me feel even worse for Link and Aryll's Grandma. Fantastic work as usual 😁. But then there's Corinne Sudberg. She honestly did a wonderful performance with Tetra in this chapter 😊. I love how composed she makes her sound when berating her crewmates instead of being hostile or temperamental. I also liked how she sold the line of her trying to refute Mako's suspicions of her intentions, it felt so organic. And then of course, her dialog is while talking through the stone was just great, being as level-headed, sassy, and competitive as ever. Everyone did a fantastic job, especially in the ad-libbing department. It really helps with making this project feel more and more cinematic in a way 😉. A noteworthy example includes the Lucahjin's voicework as The Goddess Statue, the was just great, lol. All in all, I'm just loving the progress being made with this project, specially with the voicework. Keep up the great work you guys, cant wait to see the next chapter. Or maybe even another side story, they're always fun 😆😁.

I never knew about the Coffee House... or else I forgot about it. I have watched Wind Waker LPs less often than other Zelda games. The interactions in there are the sweetest, and the rejection from the bomb shop was funny, even if Link was going to get in there no matter what. Hee hee, Gonzo cares about Link and tries to cover it up, just like Tetra; his voice is so cute in this second quest dub (Reminds me a bit of the actor(s) ZU cast for Groose.) And it's always nice to hear from Ms. Lovelock as Link and Aryll's grandma, and Megami33 (Nurse Worse and Princess Mumma for me, always.) as the spunky Tetra. Hello Jabun, thanks for Nayru's Pearl. Now, onward to the Kingdom of Hyrule beneath the ocean where the Goddess statues (voice by lucahjin! Ah yeah!) form a trigram.
