I think that Darkstar was a convenient scapegoat, and that Balon will be killed by a Hotah/Darkstar/Obara conspiracy - they will meet with Darkstar, not to attack him, but to join him and bring him back to Doran to rejoin the dornish alliance

What an amazing final year surprise and gift! I've been expecting this episode for a long time! Dorne is my favorite kingdom/region of Westeros and I'm really excited to know where GRRM will lead Dorne's arc in Winds of Winter! As our fellow Prince Doran Martell says: Justice, revenge, fire and blood!
@dustin6284 жыл бұрын
Yeah I really like Dorne and the families there too. So much mystery going on in the south! The Daynes and their involvement with the tower of joy, their heir being named after Ned Stark even though he supposedly killed The Sword of the Morning, and the Martells and all of their very interesting secrets/plans. Also, im a native of the Phoenix desert so I feel an affinity for the Dornish 🙂

1:30:45 I think Ashara fell in love with Howland Reed, not one of the Stark boys. And the line "she turned to Stark..." well who was sitting with the Starks but Howland Reed.

This could have been such a beautiful part in the show. It really does tell you how much we missed. Yes it didn’t really add too much to the story but as one of the independent kingdoms this story gave us a developing rebellions.

Who told? Tyene. She’s the last one Arianne would suspect. Tyene is the sister she never had, they tell each other everything, they have no secrets between them (or so Arianne thinks). Arianne is blind to how treacherous Tyene really is and that she’d sell out even Arianne. Who is Doran’s friend in KL? Varys. Varys is collecting 2nd tier heirs from other houses for when Aegon Blackfyre arrives, he doesn’t have to do any work on Dorne, the Martells are eager to depose the Lannisters and put a supposed son of Elia’s on the throne. They’re natural allies.
@dustin6284 жыл бұрын
Varys is an interesting idea for Dorans spy. I was thinking it could also be Taena of Myr the wife of Orton Merryweather. She came out of nowhere and worked her way into Cersei's bedchamber real quick!

This podcast is so packed with knowledge of TSOIAF that I cant listen to it while doing something else(like in typical podcast). I have to be focused otherwise I keep missing something and catching myself with "Darkstar did what?!" and need to rewind;)

Yayyy! Love these uploads, and so curious about Dorne and the Martell family. The show did them all so dirty... we should have realized then that D&D had no idea what they were doing or going to do and were in fact terrible writers lol.
@MandeepKaur-pk5tq3 жыл бұрын
I think Gerold Dayne told about the queen maker plot. When Arianne asked Doran, he said “I am the Prince of Dorne, men seek my favour.” I think Dayne told bc he wanted to raise his standing in some way. We already know he’s bitter about Arthur Dayne and he’s apart of a cadet branch of House Dayne... That’s why darkstar was so calm when they were ambushed.

5:45 Yes, I knew yall caught that I knew it ! Obara is going to kill Hotah ! Also in this chapter or the one in dance I forget lol but Hotah also makes a statement about Obara walking to fast as if to say she would walk into a trap and or sword thrust. I can picture those two walking down a long hallway in High Hermitage with Obara in front out pacing Hotah turning a corner before him and as he turns the same corner her spear will be there waiting to go through his throat .

It's seems well beyond unlikely at this point that any of the non-R+L=J theories could be true unless GRRM is so pissed at the three stooges (Cogman being the third) that he pulls the rug out completely. But if the much more likely theories that Dawn=Lightbringer and Jon=Azor Ahai are correct ... Ned+Ashara=Jon would go very well with that. Probably a nicely matched school of red herrings prowling the Narrow Sea. But we can be absolutely certain that House Dayne is going to be massively important and it's hard to believe that Ashara won't as well.

Alright, here’s a crackpot: Petyr Baelish is working with Doran, a little. And factoring him in definitely increases who is a friend. For example, I think the Balon Swann secret came from Osmund Kettleblack. For one, whenever Cersei wants someone dead, she turns to the Kettleblacks. The detail that I think makes this pretty likely is the “Halfman!” thing. If Tyrion is in Dorne, which Cersei did consider, then the Halfman scheme is stupid, one Doran would know the truth of. Specifically, the thing that I thought was the parallel with the Swan dinner. Tyrion thought the Kettleblacks were his, but they flipped in a brazen act. Now they’ll betray Cersei in another Brazen act. Osmumd was trying to keep that day as far away as he can, so he let it slip. As for why Littlefinger, I think it came from when Jon Arryn went to Dorne. Jon Arryn wouldn’t have gone alone. He was the King’s Hand then, and he would need people to go with him. Littlefinger makes sense. He was a part of Jon Arryn’s household, He was a ward of a great lord, born from a lordly house. But not very significant hostage. A good envoy, a poor hostage. And if his ambition started after Robert’s Rebellion then at Sunspear, he could’ve been willing to accept some gold in exchange for secrets. “My brother is not a bloodthirsty man, but neither has he been asleep for sixteen years. Jon Arryn came to Sunspear the year after Robert took the throne, and you can be sure that he was questioned closely. Him, and a hundred more. I did not come for some mummer’s show of an inquiry. I came for justice for Elia and her children, and I will have it.” Oberyn could’ve expected to meet up with Baelish and instead met with Osmund or another agent. And Baelish lets the Dornish know some details about the economics of the Iron Throne.

I can't wrap my head around what's gonna happen in Starfall/High Hermitage area. I originally thought Hotah was done but then there'd be no POV for Doran. I know Swann is a goner. Also not sure how Darkstar will get Dawn... just that he will and join Aegon VI's Kingsguard and rejoin Arienne Martel.

Yet another well written, well narrated and well produced podcast...great to have you back guys...I know your eyes will be rolling but I've got a couple of theories and I'd be interested in your opinions because I don't think you've mentioned these things...I'll put them in the replies so SPOILER ALERT (or maybe TINFOIL ALERT)!
@senorpetirrojo51514 жыл бұрын
(a) After Jamie has lost his hand and is about to leave Harrenhall for Kings Landing there's a long paragraph explaining that he's going to travel incognito. The final sentence of this paragraph states that "He was no one". So it seems to me that very probably there's going to be some sort of faceless Jamie thing going to happen. My tinfoil idea is that Arya will wear his face to strangle Cersei. Any thoughts?
