Your videos are awesome! I windsurf in Hood River with dreams of getting to Kanaha and one day Ho'okipa. I was wondering if you could do a wave etiquette video? Or a spot guide? Want to minimize the kookiness before I make the pilgrimage.

Thank you! I’ll keep that idea in mind the next time we have a busy day on the water.

Really enjoyed the real time experience, such a contrast to an edit every 5s. Much more informative and engaging as a consequence. What camera are you using?

Thank you! I’m using the GoPro Hero 10 camera.

Hi Glenn, great "sail with me" video as always! Was wondering, you prefer quad or thruster OR both depending...
@koav10 ай бұрын
Cheers, thank you! I am still on the fence as to which I like better. I really do like them both. I am leaning towards a Thruster for stronger winds and bigger choppy wave conditions and the Quad in light to moderate winds and smoother waves.

What kind of windguru forecast would these conditions be equivalent to? Like 2 star, ~15 knot winds, 2 meter waves?
@koav10 ай бұрын
I would say the wind was from 15 knots to 28 knots in the gusts. For the wave size I think 2 meters would be pretty accurate.

I have a question about hawaii (i'm from france).... When you do windsurf in kanaha, there is wind and you can jump, but in hookipa, you only surf and the wind is not very strong. I would like see you jump in hookipa xD !

At Ho`okipa there is usually a wind shadow on the inside of the breaking waves caused by the surrounding landscape. We do get the rare day when the wind fills in and the focus is on jumping but my main focus is riding waves and then getting back upwind for another one.

This would be a good day for me.smaller I’ve never sailed at HO’Okipa it’s a bucket list item, I’m worried about the rocks getting out and back safely … any hints on this
@koav7 ай бұрын
@Michael Vine Firstly, we are all worried about the rocks… that fear never disappears no matter how many times you’ve sailed Ho`okipa. I would recommend trying Ho`okipa on a smaller day (head high or smaller) and in windy conditions. Hookipa is famous for the light and gusty winds on the inside which makes for a very challenging dance in front of the rocks. Summer time can offer the best conditions for your first session (May through to the end of August).
