He won because he played better after thousands of hours training, reading, practicing, playing. There is no rating in chess for character traits. Being good or bad is irrelevant. Carlsen, as an example that totally proves the point, has been dominating for a decade without being humble or good mannered. @@RAEN74 Yes. As we've seen throughout this tournament, but also for many years now, the vast majority of games end in draws. The reason i believe why illegal move are illegal are to prevent problems like the two player being in check at the same time ( as suggested by levy at 8:20) Cause according to the rule white would have to move out of check ( not accounting for the fact that he can capture the enemy king) Therefore following the rules of chess as set, black could play the fork, white king would have to move, then black would have to move it’s own king.

@GothamChess has a real talent of transforming these matches into blockbuster action movie scenes. The narrative and the pace of the speech JUST HITS THE SPOT OMG. It’s no less than watching other e-Sports tournament games where there are also commentators to spice things up. So good job and thank you!

Towards the end of the last game it crossed 50k. I was there and Hikaru acknowledged it. After the game it dropped to high 30s.

In the words of Anish, Magnus Carlsen is lucky because he never needs to play Magnus Carlsen

Maan your comment is very unfair. He beat very tough opponents. Even Mag can't win every match :-) Although that game with Berlin suggest he was convinced he will beat Wesley in blitz, which is understandable bc he generally has a bigger edge in blitz :-)

What's even crazier than this computer line, is that peter leko found it on live stream and discussed it with kramnik, who was blown away. What a beast, Leko💪

This type of content was missing for so long in this platform. I always was a fan of chess but never could find the top level matches anywhere, just as notations in random pages. Now I can see what's going on in the chess world, thanks for the content

Not true, top chess players can peak at 35, look at Levon Aronian for instance

The king capture thing that you said is what I play with my family over the board Levy. If somebody doesn’t realise they’re in check, and they don’t protect the king, we just knock the king over haha. It’s a much better rule, adds a new tactic for hidden attacks in a position.
