I'd caution that preference should be given to teams that had a unifying team theme--at least a team name, preferably associated costumes or gimmicks--or else the whole thing just devolves into 30 random wrestlers, since essentially every wrestler has been on some kind of ad hoc tag team at some point.

That was a good teamup between Rick Steiner and Stevie Ray. May have mentioned this before, but the Rockers started out in the AWA as the Midnight Rockers. Road Warriors, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are also AWA alumni.

When I was a youngster the Rockers were my favorite tag team too. They were so innovative at the time, always performing new and interesting moves. Now that I'm older my favorite tag team are the Steiner's. Two of the strongest and most legitimate athletes to ever do it, very entertaining in the ring too.

And you can pinpoint the exact moment that the rockers who where on raise to be a successful tag team and spoiler it was when Marty Jennetty was thrown through the glass of the barber shop. It's when they beat the Heart Foundation for the tag team titles but since the top rope broke Vince said when can't show that match so that match was erased along with there push.

Not sure if you can find them in the creation zone but I remember in the 80's and 90's watching Memphis wrestling with Jerry Lawler, Superstar Bill Dundee, Dutch Mantel, The Fabulous ones, and The Moondogs just to name a few. Great one! You could easily do some more classic Tag team rumbles. It upsets me that people don't give Marty Jennetty the love he deserves. When a tag team breaks up the member of that team that has success and the other doesn't have success there know has the Marty Jennetty of that team. Jennetty held and IC title. He won tag team title with 123 kid. I believe the label should have win fit better with Jim the anvil Neidhart who has bret Hart was winning titles Jim never won any titles on his own,

Many teams would ultimately fail in their endeavors, one half of their teams would barely get a chance to shine, and collectively how they performed would not only determine the team going to the finale but the team who ultimately proved to have the best performance. All of which would lead to a huge finish for one team, a finish that automatically fills slots 5 and 6 which could make this season significantly shorter than the last. And whether we feature this format again during the season will ultimately depend on the lasting impression this match left upon the fans. But for now, we celebrate the triumph of the winning team: The Road Warriors, Animal and the winning contender who made it possible, Hawk. Whether you know them as The Legion of Doom or the Road Warriors, according to many tag team rankings there is no other team who represents the pure escapism of pro wrestling than these guys. For them, the rules of combat didn’t matter as these warpaint wearing warriors changed the tenor of wrestling for years to come. This wasn’t the first time we’ve seen Hawk win a rumble in this series, but it’s a pivotal moment because despite his partner having a lackluster performance together the Legion are going to the champion’s rumble. Granted, winning this match as a team was one thing but, in a finale, where it’s every man for themselves, which of these Road Warriors is going to desire to be the champion more? Who were my MVPs of this Tag Team rumble? Let’s get down to the numbers: Of the fifteen teams of a total of thirty competitors involved in this match FIFTEEN competitors secured the most eliminations (Practically half the roster). The highest count reached ‘4’ eliminations, which is three points higher than the average ‘1’ elimination. The nominees for the Golden MVP Award for ‘coolest’ performance are: Road Warrior Hawk Scott Steiner Both competitors secured the most eliminations individually, but obviously Hawk would emerge as the victor. However, what made Steiner an essential nominee was the fact he did last the ‘longest’ overall during the match despite the fact he couldn’t win for his team. Individually, the MVP of the match must be Scott Steiner whose performance at least got his team ‘second’ in terms of overall performance. However, the MVP for the ‘best’ team of the night goes to: The Outsiders While they didn’t secure the most eliminations as a team (Again that honor going to the Steiners), based on their combined performance as a team, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall proved to be the dominant force as these big men pushed their competition to the limit. Of course, they would undeniably receive the award ‘anyway’ because since they are the runner-up tag team no other team really had a chance to keep up. True, this is a match that ended with Scott Hall failing to enter a champion’s rumble… again. But the season’s still young and there’s plenty of chances to do so. The nominees for the Dull Participation Medal for ‘lamest’ performance are: Jerry Sags British Bulldog Ax Individually, these three did not have the most impressive showing nor the contribution needed to push their team to the champion’s rumble. But the biggest difference among the three was how ‘one’ man’s performance ultimately led to the lowest satisfying team. Which under the circumstances, not only does Ax receive the medal for his individual performance but the tag team receiving the Dull Participation Medal are none other than: Demolition Looking back, two guys in bondage gear making it onto a list about wrestling would be ridiculous if the idea was to be intimidated by these men. However, they did establish one of the greatest traditions in the business: Ripping off the gimmick that made you famous. Ax and Smash took the Mad Max’s aesthetic and built a great career… which was the Road Warriors’ idea first (Yeah, I know exactly how it feels to be ripped off). Because of their unsatisfying performance in this match, and collectively only securing one elimination, it pains me to say that they weren’t the ‘best’ tag team in this match. It’s not to say these guys are ‘bad’ by any means, I still find them killer (Especially their theme song) … but I know they could do better than this. With two slots filled, the Road Warriors have truly set the pressure for the remaining finalists to secure the slots while they are still open. As we continue with this season, several questions start to pile up: If we are to feature yet another tag team rumble this season, can we expect more teams ranked among the Top 50? Could we see teams that maybe weren’t considered the ‘best’ but still notable in their own way? Or if we don’t reduce ourselves to just professional wrestling teams, are there any ‘fictional’ duos up for consideration? And the biggest question of them all: Who’s next?
