Like for me, I was two years old, and I freaked out over a guy in a Barney suit… that’s when I learned how uncomfortable I was around mascots with the big heads. The following competitors are considered among the select few that always messed with our prestigious host of this series for one reason or another. Most of these competitors were successful in their own way, others didn’t last as long as they should’ve, and in the end only one of these freaky competitors would be going to the champion’s rumble. But what was really freaky was a winner we ‘least’ expected to crown. Papa Shango, one of many gimmicks of Charles Wright a.k.a. The Godfather. In this particular case, Mr. Wright was repackaged as a heel in the early nineties as a horror-themed voodoo practitioner with an appearance reminiscent of the Ioa, Baron Samedi (Live and Let Die). Known for his cryptic rituals and an occult, culturally exotic presence, this supernatural character would ‘cast spells’ to cause opponents pain and to make them vomit from afar. Unfortunately, the gimmick was pilloried by fans, deeming it the Worst Gimmick and the Most Embarrassing Wrestler, essentially the Papa Shango gimmick ‘bombed’… hard. And yet, somehow, he toppled down a literal ‘heavy favorite’ at the end of the match to secure a place into the champion’s rumble… maybe there is some magic worth noting about Papa Shango after all. But who was my MVP of this freaky-deaky rumble? Let’s get down to the numbers: Of the thirty superstars featured in this match, only THIRTEEN competitors secured the most eliminations. The highest count of the evening reached ‘7’ eliminations, which is six points higher than the average ‘1’ elimination. I give the Golden MVP Award for ‘coolest’ performance to: The Undertaker I was ‘close’ to giving the award to The Goon’s unexpected stellar performance, but the moment The Undertaker got the works going… it was difficult to argue just how good the man is. The highest elimination count, the longest time spent in the match… there was barely any competition for the Undertaker by this point. True, he didn’t win a place in the rumble. But men like the Undertaker still remain an icon amongst the fans whether they win or lose. With more episodes to go this season, we won’t be seeing the last of him. I give the Dull Participation Medal for ‘lamest’ performance to: Isaac Yankem, DDS To be fair, there were tons of competitors who had pretty sloppy performances in this rumble (Bad News Brown, Adrian Adonis, Giant Gonzalez, just to name a few). However, as per my own little tradition, Isaac was the first man to enter the rumble… and he was the first eliminated. And honestly, did anyone really like this Dentist gimmick? I’d be uncomfortable enough trying to sit through that ‘Dentist’ horror movie without throwing up. It’s a good thing he got rid of this gimmick entirely for the ‘Kane’ character we all know… until Ricky J. starts considering on adding ‘Blue Kane’ into this rumble (Not really hard, just use Kane’s design for his initial debut in the WWE… and just make it blue). With a shocking upset in this episode, Papa Shango’s on his way to possibly his first champion’s rumble (Unless I’m wrong). While his chances of winning the finale are slim to none, this episode goes to show that ‘any’ outcome can happen. Of course, there are other questions worth bringing to attention: Could there be another superstar with a bad gimmick who stands a chance of entering the finale? Are there some creepy fictional characters this series should bring to attention? Are professional wrestlers going to dominate the finale this season? And the biggest question of them all: Who’s next?

I always enjoyed the way it would appear he was about to perform a vicious move on his opponent then he would change it into a completely different yet equally vicious move. A couple of ideas. 1. If a another mix rumble is possible, a male/female partner rumble. Examples, John Wayne/Maureen O'Hara, March Man/Elizabeth, Mork/Mindy, just different partners from wrestling, movies, TV etc. 2. 10 3 person teams, Example the triplets from Slap Shot, 3 Stooges, Demolition with Crush, the 3 Amegos. 3. A generals rumble. Great military leaders from history, no not tge rulers (unless they personally lead their armies) but the military minds. I think any if these will be fun.

There's only one wrestler who ever scared me. Being Canadian like myself, you might know who this wrestler is, Ricky. His name was Sailor White. You may remember him better as Moondog King in the WWF in late 70s or early 80s. He was from Newfoundland like myself. I vaguely remember seeing him in person on local wrestling shows when I was between the ages of 4 to 6 years old. I don't remember anything about the matches even Sailor White's but I remember that He scared the hell out of me.

Bad News Brown was a favorite of mine back in the day, so great to see him on the channel. There is an interview with him here on youtube where he is telling the story of calling out Andre the Giant. A real life bad ass I think, was a security guard for a mall in Canada when he finished wrestling, and an olympic medalist in judo.

I have met Ted DiBiase at the airport. He is the exact same size as my dad. Except that his legs are "bigger". My dad has skinner legs. Also, I met Animal from the Warriors. I was an adult and he made me look like a small child. Even Precious Paul Elluring was a big guy. I had a picture of me and them together. My "ex" is an EX for a reason.
