the wip graveyard [ epic the musical animatics ]

Also. um. While undergoing the horrors that is animation finals, I turned to tma the same way a medieval peasant turns to jesus christ, and now i am going through it (2) so uhm. The brainrot is strong
my uploads will be. very sporadic. and also. nonexistent! (joking)
But I am a bit more active on my social medias because I don't really animate as much now
Apologies for the scribbles that are my storyboards, they don't really make sense to anyone but me. But I was asked what my process was like before so here's a glimpse of that haha.
I'm thinking of not making my animatic this polished next time it would save me a lot of grief lol

I'VE JUST REALIZED OH MY GOD. in "warrior of the mind", odysseus looks in water at his reflection to talk to athena. in ruthlessness, odysseus looks through poseidon's water and sees his reflection, which is then tainted similarly to his reflection with athena.

Those seconds of Ruthlessness were freaking AMAZING, Poseidon looks so genuinely threatening, intimidating, imposing, he is powerful and he knows it, he could kill them all so easily but he's playing with them all first, I freaking love it. It's also so visually pleasant, I LOVE the design, and the smile appearing from the water is so great, so creative.

Wolfy, I can understand what you're saying about your change of style and needing to "see" the scene to be able to animate it and still needing to do that before the motivation runs out. I suffer a lot from creative block. But I also need to say how your animations made Epic come to life for me. Seriously, I don't want to put pressure on you or seem like I'm demanding, but your animations transported me into the myth. Your videos made me cry and smile along with Odysseus, they made me feel every emotion, and honestly, it was even because of them that I'm hooked on the musical today. And well, I know that this is much more than just the style of animation and drawing. This is thanks to your vision, your interpretation of the scenes and imagination that fill the animation with so much expressiveness. No matter how much your style changes, I'm sure you won't miss this detail. Well, all this just to say that even if you remade all the animations I would watch it again, even if it was a stick figure. And sorry for any spelling mistakes, I'm using the translator, I'm Brazilian and I don't speak English very well.

I love all of this. As someone who is aspiring toward a career in storyboarding, it's so fascinating to see the process behind the finished animatics! Especially the My Goodbye remake, I love seeing all the little notes and choices that went into it. And the changes you would have made in a second attempt. If EPIC ever gets picked up for an animated film (small chance, I know, but a girl can dream), I sure hope you're on the storyboard team - your boards do such an amazing job of bringing each song and each character to life!

Hi there! I am a student whose major project to finish their course is an animation. I've been looking at your work as a huge fountain of inspiration! I love seeing your unfinished WIPs (abandoned or not), as they sort of "demystify" the process of animation by seeing all the shapes, squiggles and lines that formed the scaffolding throughout the making of the craft! Seeing the WIPs makes me much more confident to trust my process and tackle down my assignment instead of procrastinating like I've been doing for so long. I know as an artist it's kinda sad to loose the energy in a project, and to see how much energy and effort put into a piece only for it to feel like sunk-cost. But also as an artist I love the fact that you still showed this to us, because even sketches and art studies are placed in museums. To see your process, and clearly follow the narrative and tell the emotions with just the guidelines of the head shows sooo much artistic talent and helps those that might study your work (I know there is definitely people that love how you do expressions, including me) understand how you get to the spectacular animation level your at. I know I'm excited to see your process from start to finish, for every upload you do, and if some end up in the graveyard it's still cool to see what you were envisioning as you heard the songs!

I really liked the emptiness of the original 'My Goodbye.' There was such a focus on Athena and Odysseus because there was absolutely nothing else to take your eyes off of them or distract. It almost felt like Athena pulled Odysseus into an empty space on purpose. Just a god and a man duking out their emotions and pain. :3c
