Well it's better than dumping it in the pacific ocean like they used too. Not sure i like WIPP's preparedness to allow the 'cave' to collapse and crush the containment into the the salt superstructure. Entombment is more like a collective 'forgetaboutit'.

That waste will reach non-harmful levels of radiation in approximately 10,000 years, and experts predict WIPP will be geologically stable to store waste for well over a million. Also, the only way to get rid of waste is to forget about it and let it decay.
