5:53 The Greek was not untouchable, he was an asset. Agent Koutris was not corrupt, the feds thought him more valuable on the street than behind bars. Fitz explicitly tells us this in the last episode of season 2. The Greek was allowed to operate so the feds could collect intelligence under the banner of counter-terrorism. 14:14 Pretty sure Mouzone says Dante didn't crack easily. Why would he lie for Dante's honor? This doesn't change the likelihood that he either wasn't beat up enough for Omar's liking, or he's disappointed he talked period. 26:15 the joint broke him? The scene where Cutty quits says Avon thinks otherwise.
@drigonfirefoxАй бұрын
Dante did give him up is the point. If it wasnt muzone he could have very easily died. Brandon understood this. Baliey died knowing he wasnt the main target he couldve tried selling him out. The only people to snitch is bubs who omar understands because of his addiction, and dante. Dante snitching was proof that he wasnt cut out. I mean shit even the crack fiends omar employs dont rat on him. He is litterally less reliable than a single mother with a heroin addiction and baliey who also was into somthing.

The second season is one of THE best seasons of The Wire- every season breaks down different aspects/layers of corruption/crime. Yeah, you have the corner boys, you have the bosses of those corner boys, but who’s the supplier, the distribution? How does that work? They show all that, including the law enforcement involved, and the unions involvement.. it displays nothing is black & white, the entire issue lives in the grey.. The Greek, and his organization only use drugs to fund a bigger operation which was hinted during season 2(terrorism/global conflict).. Season 2 is fantastic.. every season is a calculated layer to a well baked cake, you can’t take one away without it destroying the rest. I feel you could’ve dug deeper for more unique facts about The Wire, and its connection to other series like The Corner. Shorty was part of Frank Mathew crew..
@georgenewman44642 ай бұрын
Anyone who claims that Season 2 is weaker than Season 5 can't be trusted to comment on "The Wire" at all. Season 2 is terrific. Season 5 is rickety as hell, though the portions that *don't* involve (a) the very unfortunate "Baltimore Sun" setpiece or (b) McNulty's absurd prank on the entire city are fine. Unfortunately, (a) and (b) together make up more than half the runtime of Season 5, so it's significantly weaker than the first four.
@MidTierVillain2 ай бұрын
@@georgenewman4464 I agree, I felt they could’ve left the serial deleter part out, and focused on how the newspaper/media has an affect on all of the above.. how they play a major role in spinning narratives, and pushing certain politics- and, embellishing on certain stories for ratings, and numbers to increase. I also agree if anyone says season 2 is the weakest link, they can’t be a true fan of the series- because, that season is extremely important to the overall message the series provided.. it’s the major component for the kingpins of each section to remain where they’re at, and how the newer guys coming up takes over… plus, the inside corruption from the FBI, and the union itself, because of numerous of reasons, which boiled down to providing extras for union workers not having enough hours to survive, and take care of their families. I loved the running prank with the police van, lmao, that was genius connection to how that one thing caused an issue for another by accident.. Cheers!

Season 2 is far from the weakest… in fact, it’s the most important season which sets up the rest of the show. The issue with season two is that it’s the first time the viewer is introduced to a brand new theme, which is also a staple of each following season. It almost feels like a different show at first, but once you realize that season three brings in another new cast of characters you start to see what David Simon and the writers were doing. I think it’s a fantastic season and arguably one of the most important with the introduction of the Greeks and their connect, which is something that’s a major story driver.

Season 2 takes a bold and different turn by focusing on the shipment of illegal goods and human trafficking which was definitely entertaining to watch, but the rest of the antagonists took a back seat to focus on something else. Again, not bad in any way, just different compared to the rest of the series. New characters, new villains and a new plot thread.
