My wife and I lost our son in her 20th week of pregnancy back in 2020. I would play Vinnie Paz Marciano’s Song on my commute to work and cry. The song really helped me get it all out. Helped me deal through a dark time in my life. For that I thank you Vinnie

Italian-Sicilian here. Been a fan of hip-hop since the mid-late ‘80s. Both of y’all are two of my favorites. I’ve been rockin’ with JMT and VP since they debuted in the late ‘90s, and then I discovered you, Ali, not long after that. Anyway…bear with me, I’m long-winded like Paz, it’s in our DNA. 🤌 My father was murdered at the end of 2021. He was the best father and man EVER. Anyone who met him, loved him forever. He was literally the definition of selfless, loyal, and his love was always unconditional. He was not only my hero, but he was my best friend on this magnificent planet. When this incredible conversation was posted my entire was crumbling, and not just because of my father. SOO much other tragic shit just kept happening to me. Without typing an even longer novel and re-living the past in the comment section, to sum it up in the least amount of words, 2022 was the worst year of my life. I had to say that so this would mean more. Thank your for this. I cried a few times with Paz when he started talking about his father. Wish I would’ve discovered this a cpl years ago, but I’m am truly grateful I discovered it now. Again, thank you for this. It helped me so much, and I leaned some gems from this conversation. Grazie mille. 🙏 PS - please get VP back for Part 2. ✌️ and ❤️. 🫡

Vinnie has been my favorite rapper since I heard retaliation for the first time. Hearing that made me really dig in and find everything he was ever a part of. I didn’t realize at the time how important and how much his music would help me get thru. I’ve been a heroin addict since I was like 16 years old and it took me forever to get my shit together. I’ve been clean for almost 5 years now after around 8 rehab attempts and being locked up multiple times. Somehow his music touched me and moved me more than any other artist ever. My father passed away when I was 21 from a heart attack unexpectedly and it turned me into someone I can’t even begin to recognize but Vinnie helped me more than I could ever explain or show. Idk man but the only other thing that I leaned on at my darkest times were vinnies music and a manga series called Beserk.

As an underground hip-hop fan for over 3 decades, and a massive fan of Vinnie and Ali, I'm embarrassed to say I had no idea this podcast existed. You know how they say the universe speaks to you when you need it the most? It did today, as I came across this episode in the most random search. I've been listening to both of you for over 20 years. Back when I was performing from 2001-2008, I could only wish to have the reach you both did. I still remember the first time I heard Picket Fence, I literally broke down in tears. That song touched a part of my soul that no other song had at that point in my life. There were so many profound words in this episode. I am grateful I was able to hear two respected MC's speak in such a vulnerable, honest manner. Thank you for this episode. I'll be listening to it again.

Thank you Brother Ali for publicly sharing this conversation with Vinnie. You’re right about it being a break through. The cry I had listening to this stirred my soul. I lost my father 7yrs ago to a drug overdose. I was 36 & having those 36 yrs with him was still not enough time. We didn’t get along for a most of that time but we reconciled in my more mature years. I can’t even imagine losing a parent at such an early age. This convo inspired me to sit down with my 4 kids & express my gratitude for the few years we’ve had so far. A glorious experience I do not take for granted. Thank you, peace be with you..

One of my fondest memories is when you came to Sweden with Atmosphere to put on a show many years ago. You guys crushed it and after the show I approached you to see if we could exchange a few words and to maybe shake your hand, I figured it was a long shot but not at all. I extended my hand and you just grabbed it and pulled me in to give me a hug instead and offered to take a picture. That was very nice. You, Sean and Anthony are fantastic, so humble, warm and polite people. I have been rocking with you since Rites of Passage and God Loves Ugly so I am very grateful for that experience. Much love brother, peace and blessings to you and yours, Vinnie as well!

Thank you for this. In a modern world with charlatans spewing venom about what it is to be a man, what defines masculinity, to listen to two grown men discuss how you two have just done is beautiful. The genuine humility, the love, and the righteous truth you both are saying is remarkable.
