I was lucky enough to catch one of Steve’s picks at a Marillion show in 88. I was just a kid. Fell in love with his guitar work when Misplaced Childhood was released. Have been a huge fan since!! He just keeps getting better. His guitar melding with her voice!!!!!🔥Too much. A masterpiece for sure

My fave guitarist ever, he has a subtlety and touch others lack, in my humble view, I could listen to him all day here, with Marillion or solo. His guitar never sounds showy and always blends with the others he plays with. And a word for our Pete, amazing bass player. 🙂

I’m late to the party as usual. Only stumbled on The Wishing Tree and Carnival of Souls yesterday. Love it. Wonderful guitar from Steve. 😎👍

Didn't know this song. Great singress, great bass lines, greatest Steve Rothery. Totally relaxed and happy musicians and me, the totally mesmerized listerner. Three times in a row...

I have the first Wishing Tree album which I must play again. I assume this must be Hannah Stobart on lead vox.. did she marry Paul Craddick? (drummer of Enchant at the time)

Steve Rothery is in the top 3 of guitarists. I cryed when Marillion (the real one, not the shadow that still exists) broke up. The sound of Steve Rotherys guitar and Fish's voice was epic.....
@JIF8826 жыл бұрын
Marillion isn't a shadow.

Marillion never broke up, it's just Fish who departed. Still a phantastic band doing brilliant stuff. Maybe you should give their best albums a try (Marbles, Sounds that can't be made, Brave, Afraid of sunlight, ...only a personal selection).

Wrong axe. Emotive, whistful or mournful solos are best on a Les Paul (Steve's usual weapon of choice). Strats are just too thin and bright on the back pickup or woolly on the middle. Even strat stalwarts Mark Knopfler and Dave Murray moved over to the Les Paul later in their careers; Slash was always there (imagine November Rain solo on a Strat - eurgh!).
@jayderrett73627 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I disagree. Jigsaw aside, Ghosts of Prypiat is, for me, as emotive as he ever got.
