It's nice to see material on traditional witchcraft becoming more available for beginners. I had to really search, and search for books when I started out that were other than Cunningham or Starhawk. It was kinda fun looking though, like a little treasure hunt 🤣

Finding the center is important part of orienting yourself on the witch compass. In essence the compass is a way of fashioning or recreating the world about you and bringing into being in order to work with those forces in play. We perceive the world outside us through the windows of the senses and envisaged in the mind. Dimensions and directions are only enabled to stand upon the midpoint/essential center/throne which is a linchpin on which the rest is determined. Remarkable Powers are synonymous with sovereignty and the point at the center whereby the right of authority is achieved

Dear FF, I'm reading this book now and landed on the exercise to yourself define the characteristics of the cardinal directions (spirits) by means of impressions rather than the usual accepted features of the directions. I really like that idea. Thanks very much for the recommendation.😊

Very well grounded in accurate history: I think you summed it up very well, Fish! This book has also impressed me for the scholarly erudition applied to the subject. Even if it's not my path either, I think it's worth having it among the esoteric books on everyone's bookshelf.

3:33 Frater Fish, would you please elaborate. The book that influences my personal occult approach is Liber Null and I admit I had problems with two parts of P. Carroll's terminology. It was because my prior exposure to the Western occult concept of Sorcery sounded more like what Carol was calling Enchantment, and when I consider the word Enchantment, one of the images that comes into my mind is a magician empowering object which Carroll referred to as Sorcery. Fortunately that just meant all I had to do is swap the terms and suddenly it didn't feel so contradictory. It doesn't hurt that Chaos Magick is a modular, customizable approach to the arcane art.

This book could still be a valuable resource to an aspect of my personal path. I suppose there are three important aspects of 'my path': 1. The LOGOS side Illuminism/Ontological Mathematics 2. The MYTHOS side: Gnostic CHRISTIANITY 3. The PRACTICE side: Witchcraft As you can see, it's hard to put into just a word or two what I am and what I believe and know about Spirituality and Ultimate Truth.

Witcher is not an English word. It's a contrivance created to translate the equally fictional Polish word "Wiedźmin" (the protagonist in Sapkowski's series of books set in a fantasy word). "Witch" is indeed gender neutral.

@@MidnightatMidian Warlock is a Scottish word, not an English. Furthermore, warlock means oath breaker, as in someone who has broken their baptismal vows. This is not something every practitioner finds suitable.
