+Barbora Holubcová I like to believe the path where he survived and Syanna died as being the "lore" one though. There cannot always be "Happily ever after"s for royalty even in fairytale lands such as Toussaint. Still that doesn't fix him having been used, but atleast he then says that he forgives her by mourning her death. I made a huge mistake in aquiring the ribbon, but I think the ribbon-less ending is the "fair" ending. And hey, we still get to keep Corvo Bianco.

Holy hell...considering that Dettlaff experiences emotions far stronger than any human’s, considering that he almost lost control when an arrogant noble treated him like dirt, the fact that he managed to restrain himself without the slightest sign of transformation when his whole world was crumbling around him - that takes willpower. I can see why people sympathise with Syanna, as well as hate her. I can see why people have the same conflict with Dettlaff. But to have Syanna celebrating in the Witcher 10th Anniversary vid with all the heroes (and other questionables, Olgierd and the Baron admittedly...) it still feels grossly out of place given how sociopathically she acted with neither curse, nor suffering inflicted by the one she abused, as an excuse. No. She doesn’t deserve a happy ending at the end of the day.
@hoilet69995 жыл бұрын
Holy hell. I didn’t even notice she was in the 10th anniversary video until I read this comment. I hate how Dettlaff isn’t there but she is, they’re basically treating him as the villain of the story. Olgierd and Baron being there is understand since they’re the main character of their own story and are pretty much portrayed in a sympathetic (albeit morally grey) light.

@@hoilet6999 Deatlaff is still the main villain. He reacts way disproportionatly. He would bring (actually brings) more death and destruction in a single night, than Syanna ever could in her entire life. And he does this knowing the city of Beuclair is innocent to Syanna's crimes, and after promising Regis to "behave". Yeah Syanna is a sociopathic bitch, but Deatlaff being that sensitive... almost anyone in the world could have triggered that rage. That makes him a volatile, completly unpredictable genocidal machine (as he can wipe out entire cities appearantly)

Interesting how he wanted her to come to the one area where the only cage in the world built strong enough to restrain a raging higher vampire is kept. Maybe he was planning on locking himself within so the woman he loved could explain herself without worrying about ripping her apart?

Maybe, but Telsem Mutna was also the traditional vampire stronghold where vampires would conduct trials and carry out punishments on one another: He probably felt it appropriate to meet, try and punish there for that reason.

Dettlaff is silent for such a long time, not only to think of everything he has just heard, but to give Syanna a possibility to proof all the accusations wrong, say something, anything. She doesn't, and this is the last proof for him that she'd really had him the worst way possible. I agree that to slaughter people in Beauclare was an awful decision (though there is also logic behind it), but what Syanna did to Dettlaff was a reason more than enough for him to kill her.

I think the duchess wouldnt give a crap and just take syanna to beauclair (the "castle" dont remember how that is named) syanna would think a way to kill her sister with dettlaff and when dettlaff finally knew who she was he'd destroy beauclair completely. With no leader such as anna and syanna probably dead because of dettlaff beauclair would be similar to velen. Thats the greater evil in geralts point of view and the other endings lesser evil. Yet all of them evil because it ends up harming someone.

Fuck Syanna. She literally seduced a vampire and this is the route she chose to get back into the Tousiannt Court... She had dozens of options to do so, but the writers decided to go with the most bloody and insane one. In a more realistic setting, she probably would have explained to Detlaff who she actually was, but also how much both he and getting back to Tousiannt meant to her, and they both could have done something like used Orianna as their point of contact to get her back to the Duchess. Of course, that would make for a very boring game though.

@@furymern8162 This isn't completely accurate, as evidenced by her desire to get Sangraal, something she feels she is "entitled to" as being a member of Toussaint's ducal house and second in line to the Ducal Throne. This attempt to get her what she was "entitled to" became one of her biggest mistakes in the whole plot, as it was the only lead Geralt and the Duchess had to continue investigating the plot, which lead to the whole plot unravelling.
